TL;DR: Liu et al. as discussed by the authors achieved high quantum efficiencies using a system where the co-catalyst is proposed to consist of small NiSx particles that are not anchored to the Cd0.5S photocatalyst.
Abstract: More efficient, noble metal-free catalysts are sought to generate hydrogen from aqueous solutions using light. Liu et al. achieve high quantum efficiencies using a system where the co-catalyst is proposed to consist of small NiSx particles that are not anchored to the Cd0.5Zn0.5S photocatalyst.

TL;DR: The experimental realization of such a readily reconfigurable and effectively controllable PT-symmetric waveguide array structure sets a new stage for further exploiting and better understanding the peculiar physical properties of these non-Hermitian systems in atomic settings.
Abstract: We experimentally demonstrate PT-symmetric optical lattices with periodical gain and loss profiles in a coherently prepared four-level N-type atomic system. By appropriately tuning the pertinent atomic parameters, the onset of PT-symmetry breaking is observed through measuring an abrupt phase-shift jump between adjacent gain and loss waveguides. The experimental realization of such a readily reconfigurable and effectively controllable PT-symmetric waveguide array structure sets a new stage for further exploiting and better understanding the peculiar physical properties of these non-Hermitian systems in atomic settings.

TL;DR: This paper provides a systematic review of the mutual coupling in multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) systems, including the effects on performances of MIMO systems and various decoupling techniques.
Abstract: This paper provides a systematic review of the mutual coupling in multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) systems, including the effects on performances of MIMO systems and various decoupling techniques. The mutual coupling changes the antenna characteristics in an array, and therefore, degrades the system performance of the MIMO system and causes the spectral regrowth. Although the system performance can be partially improved by calibrating out the mutual coupling in the digital domain, it is more effective to use decoupling techniques (from the antenna point) to overcome the mutual coupling effects. Some popular decoupling techniques for MIMO systems (especially for massive MIMO base station antennas) are also presented.

TL;DR: It is reported that hypoxia-inducible factor 1 (HIF-1) directly activates transcription of the CD47 gene in hypoxic breast cancer cells, which contributes to the lethal breast cancer phenotype that is mediated by Hif-1.
Abstract: Increased expression of CD47 has been reported to enable cancer cells to evade phagocytosis by macrophages and to promote the cancer stem cell phenotype, but the molecular mechanisms regulating CD47 expression have not been determined. Here we report that hypoxia-inducible factor 1 (HIF-1) directly activates transcription of the CD47 gene in hypoxic breast cancer cells. Knockdown of HIF activity or CD47 expression increased the phagocytosis of breast cancer cells by bone marrow-derived macrophages. CD47 expression was increased in mammosphere cultures, which are enriched for cancer stem cells, and CD47 deficiency led to cancer stem cell depletion. Analysis of datasets derived from thousands of patients with breast cancer revealed that CD47 expression was correlated with HIF target gene expression and with patient mortality. Thus, CD47 expression contributes to the lethal breast cancer phenotype that is mediated by HIF-1.
