TL;DR: This letter will study the problem of too little attention paid to the convergence issue of the fixed-point MCC algorithms and give a sufficient condition to guarantee the convergence of a fixed- point MCC algorithm.
Abstract: The maximum correntropy criterion (MCC) has received increasing attention in signal processing and machine learning due to its robustness against outliers (or impulsive noises). Some gradient based adaptive filtering algorithms under MCC have been developed and available for practical use. The fixed-point algorithms under MCC are, however, seldom studied. In particular, too little attention has been paid to the convergence issue of the fixed-point MCC algorithms. In this letter, we will study this problem and give a sufficient condition to guarantee the convergence of a fixed-point MCC algorithm.

TL;DR: The proportional-integral (PI) observer is proposed to estimate the SOC of lithium-ion batteries in EDVs, and the PI-based SOC estimation results are found to agree with the reference SOC generally within the 2% error band for both the known and unknown initial SOC cases.
Abstract: With the development of electric drive vehicles (EDVs), the state-of-charge (SOC) estimation for lithium-ion (Li-ion) batteries has become increasingly more important. Based on the analysis of some of the most popular model-based SOC estimation methods, the proportional-integral (PI) observer is proposed to estimate the SOC of lithium-ion batteries in EDVs. The structure of the proposed PI observer is analyzed, and the convergence of the estimation method with model errors is verified. To demonstrate the superiority and compensation properties of the proposed PI observer, the simple-structure RC battery model is utilized to model the Li-ion battery. To validate the results of the proposed PI-based SOC estimation method, the experimental battery test bench is established. In the validation, the urban dynamometer driving schedule (UDDS) drive cycle is utilized, and the PI-based SOC estimation results are found to agree with the reference SOC, generally within the 2% error band for both the known and unknown initial SOC cases.

TL;DR: Special and closer attention should be paid in university freshmen with depression, anxiety, and other influential factors associated with Internet addiction at the beginning of their university life to guarantee the fulfillment of their academic study and graduation.
Abstract: The prevalence of Internet addiction and influential factors associated with Internet addiction among freshmen college students were investigated in this study. A total of 3557 first-year university students from a university in northwest China were surveyed with Young's 20-item Internet Addiction Test (IAT) questionnaire, a Self-Rating Depression scale (SDS), a Self-Rating Anxiety scale (SAS), and a basic information questionnaire. A rate of 6.44% of the participants surveyed showed Internet addiction. The students with Internet addiction had higher scores of SDS and SAS compared with those without Internet addiction (p < 0.01). There were significant positive correlations between SDS and SAS scores and Internet addiction (p < 0.001). Multiple logistic regression analyses showed that a single-parent family, the age of first exposure to Internet use, the age of the student, city residence, and homesickness were significantly associated with Internet addiction (p < 0.01). Special and closer attent...

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors investigated the propagation of optical beams in the fractional Schrodinger equation with a harmonic potential, and they found that the beam propagation is not harmonic unless both the linear chirp and transverse displacement of the incident beam are zero.
Abstract: The dynamics of wave packets in the fractional Schrodinger equation is still an open problem. The difficulty stems from the fact that the fractional Laplacian derivative is essentially a nonlocal operator. We investigate analytically and numerically the propagation of optical beams in the fractional Schrodinger equation with a harmonic potential. We find that the propagation of one- and two-dimensional input chirped Gaussian beams is not harmonic. In one dimension, the beam propagates along a zigzag trajectory in real space, which corresponds to a modulated anharmonic oscillation in momentum space. In two dimensions, the input Gaussian beam evolves into a breathing ring structure in both real and momentum spaces, which forms a filamented funnel-like aperiodic structure. The beams remain localized in propagation, but with increasing distance display an increasingly irregular behavior, unless both the linear chirp and the transverse displacement of the incident beam are zero.
