TL;DR: This work proposes a generative RPCA model under the Bayesian framework by modeling data noise as a mixture of Gaussians (MoG), a universal approximator to continuous distributions and thus the model is able to fit a wide range of noises such as Laplacian, Gaussian, sparse noises and any combinations of them.
Abstract: The research on robust principal component analysis (RPCA) has been attracting much attention recently. The original RPCA model assumes sparse noise, and use the L1-norm to characterize the error term. In practice, however, the noise is much more complex and it is not appropriate to simply use a certain Lp-norm for noise modeling. We propose a generative RPCA model under the Bayesian framework by modeling data noise as a mixture of Gaussians (MoG). The MoG is a universal approximator to continuous distributions and thus our model is able to fit a wide range of noises such as Laplacian, Gaussian, sparse noises and any combinations of them. A variational Bayes algorithm is presented to infer the posterior of the proposed model. All involved parameters can be recursively updated in closed form. The advantage of our method is demonstrated by extensive experiments on synthetic data, face modeling and background subtraction.

TL;DR: The prevalence and spectrum of thyroid disorders has increased, reflecting possible adverse effects of increased iodine intake, and the prevalence of clinical hypothyroidism, subclinical hypothyroxine, and positive thyroid antibodies was significantly higher in MTAII cities than it was in AII cities.
Abstract: Background: The goal of eliminating iodine deficiency worldwide was successfully achieved in China after the implementation of a mandatory universal salt iodization program for the last 16 years. Thus, China has been assessed as a country with more than adequate iodine levels. This survey aimed to investigate the current iodine status in China and the effects of an increased iodine intake on the spectrum and prevalence of thyroid disorders. Methods: A total of 15,008 adult subjects from 10 cities in eastern and central China were investigated. Serum thyrotropin (TSH), thyroid peroxidase antibodies (TPOAb), thyroglobulin antibodies (TgAb), and urine iodine concentration (UIC) were measured, and an ultrasonography of the thyroid was performed in all subjects. Free thyroxine (fT4) and free triiodothyronine (fT3) levels were only measured if the serum TSH was outside the normal range. Results: The median UIC values were 197 μg/L in school-age children (SAC) and 205 μg/L in a cohort population. Six cities were...

TL;DR: PPCP nanofibrous matrix with multifunctional bioactivities provides a competitive strategy for the skin tumor and bacterial infection-induced wound healing.
Abstract: Traditional skin tumor surgery and chronic bacterial-infection-induced wound healing/skin regeneration is still a challenge. The ideal strategy should eliminate the tumor, enhance wound healing/skin formation, and be anti-infection. Herein, we designed a multifunctional elastomeric poly(l-lactic acid)-poly(citrate siloxane)-curcumin@polydopamine hybrid nanofibrous scaffold (denoted as PPCP matrix) for tumor-infection therapy and infection-induced wound healing. The PPCP matrix showed intrinsically multifunctional properties including antioxidative, anti-inflammatory, photothermal, antibacterial, anticancer, and angiogenesis bioactivities. The polydopamine/curcumin presented an excellent near-infrared photothermal/cancer cell toxicity capacity, respectively, which supported PPCP for synergetic skin tumor therapy and antibacterial properties in vitro/in vivo. Additionally, the PPCP nanofibrous matrix significantly promotes the adhesion and proliferation of normal skin cells and accelerates the cutaneous wound healing in normal mice and bacterial-infected mice by enhancing the early angiogenesis. The PPCP nanofibrous matrix with multifunctional bioactivities provides a competitive strategy for skin tumor and bacterial-infection-induced wound healing.

TL;DR: In this article, a review summarizes the inducements of thermal runaway and relevant solutions, spanning a wide temperature range, including low temperature induced issues, such as capacity fade and lithium plating and dendrite, can cause internal short circuit (ISC), while as the temperature is above the critical temperature, the speeding of side reactions and reduction of lifespan (T < 40°C) and thermal runaway (T ≥ 90°C), will be triggered.
