03 Dec 2010TL;DR: A novel feature based IQA model, namely Riesz-transform based Feature SIMilarity metric (RFSIM), is proposed based on the fact that the human vision system (HVS) perceives an image mainly according to its low-level features.
Abstract: Image quality assessment (IQA) aims to provide computational models to measure the image quality in a perceptually consistent manner. In this paper, a novel feature based IQA model, namely Riesz-transform based Feature SIMilarity metric (RFSIM), is proposed based on the fact that the human vision system (HVS) perceives an image mainly according to its low-level features. The 1st-order and 2nd-order Riesz transform coefficients of the image are taken as image features, while a feature mask is defined as the edge locations of the image. The similarity index between the reference and distorted images is measured by comparing the two feature maps at key locations marked by the feature mask. Extensive experiments on the comprehensive TID2008 database indicate that the proposed RFSIM metric is more consistent with the subjective evaluation than all the other competing methods evaluated.

TL;DR: The alloy acceptor (indene-C60 bis-adduct (ICBA)/[6,6]-phenyl-C71 -butyric acid-methyl-ester (PC71 BM) is employed to replace the widely used fullerene acceptor in organic solar cells based on five different polymer donors, which exhibit a higher efficiency and much better device stability than the PC71 BM counterpart.

However, the relationship between TAMs and breast cancer outcomes remains unclear. Experimental Design: Sixteen studies with a total of 4,541 breast cancer patients were included in this meta-analysis. Correlation of TAMs with overall survival (OS), disease-free survival(DFS), relapse-free survival (RFS), breast cancer special survival (BCSS) and clinicopathological features were analyzed. Survival data and clinicopathological value were integrated by analyzing hazard ratio(HR) and odds ratio(OR) separately and using Fixed-effect or Random-effect model according to heterogeneity. All statistical tests were two-sided. Results: OS and DFS were correlated with high density of TAMs with HR= 1.504(1.200, 1.884)/ 2.228(1.716, 2.892) respectively. And subgroup analysis of location and biomarker in OS and DFS group showed prognosis was associated with TAMs distribution and biomarker selection. Besides, TAMs high infiltration was significantly related to age, size, histologic grade, ER/PR status, basal phenotype and vascular invasion. Conclusion: High density of TAMs was associated with poor survival rates of breast cancer. TAMs in stroma are associated with worse outcome than that in nest and using CD68 as a biomarker for TAMs to evaluate the risk is better than CD163 or CD206 alone. Moreover, high infiltration of TAMs was significantly associated with negative hormone receptor status and malignant phenotype. TAMs infiltration can serve as a novel prognostic factor in breast cancer patients.

TL;DR: A series of antibacterial and antioxidant tissue-adhesive cryogels based on quaternized chitosan (QCS) and polydopamine (PDA) had good blood cell and platelet adhesion, enrichment, and activation properties for rapid nonpressing surface hemostasis and wound healing.
Abstract: Cryogels with tissue adhesion have great potential as wound dressings for rapid hemostasis for uncontrollable nonpressing surface hemorrhage and wound healing, but their use has not been reported previously. Herein, we designed a series of antibacterial and antioxidant tissue-adhesive cryogels based on quaternized chitosan (QCS) and polydopamine (PDA). These cryogels had good blood cell and platelet adhesion, enrichment, and activation properties for rapid nonpressing surface hemostasis and wound healing. The cryogels exhibited outstanding mechanical strength and easy removability, antioxidant activity, and NIR photothermal-enhanced antibacterial performance. The cryogels showed much better hemostasis than gauze and gelatin sponge in a standardized strip rat liver injury model, a standardized circular rabbit liver section model, and a pig skin laceration model. Furthermore, the excellent hemostatic performance of the QCS/PDA2.0 cryogel (containing 20 mg/mL QCS and 2.0 mg/mL PDA) for coagulopathic hemorrhages was confirmed in a standardized coagulation disorder rabbit circular liver section model. In addition, the QCS/PDA2.0 cryogel promoted rapid hemostasis in a deep noncompressible wound and a much better wound healing effect than a chitosan sponge and Tegaderm film in a full-thickness skin defect model. Overall, these multifunctional tissue-adhesive cryogels with excellent hemostatic performance and enhanced wound healing properties are suitable candidates for tissue-adhesive hemostat and wound healing dressings.
