TL;DR: Breathable and wearable energy storage is achieved based on an innovative design solution that combines carbon nanotube/MnO2 -decorated air-laid paper electrodes with solid-state supercapacitors that have outstanding flexibility and good electrochemical performances.
Abstract: Breathable and wearable energy storage is achieved based on an innovative design solution. Carbon nanotube/MnO2 -decorated air-laid paper electrodes, with outstanding flexibility and good electrochemical performances, are prepared. They are then assembled into solid-state supercapacitors. By making through-holes on the supercapacitors, breathable and flexible supercapacitors are successfully fabricated.

TL;DR: In this article, the synthesis of penroseite (Ni,Co)Se2 nanocages anchored on 3D graphene aerogel using Prussian blue analogues as a precursor and further their applications in overall water splitting electrolysis was reported.
Abstract: Efficient water splitting demands highly active, low cost, and robust electrocatalysts. In this study, we report the synthesis of penroseite (Ni,Co)Se2 nanocages anchored on 3D graphene aerogel using Prussian blue analogues as a precursor and further their applications in overall water splitting electrolysis. The synergy between the high activity of (Ni,Co)Se2 and the good conductivity of graphene leads to superior performance of the hybrid toward the water splitting in basic solutions. The (Ni,Co)Se2-GA only requires a low cell voltage of 1.60 V to reach the current density of 10 mA cm–2, making the (Ni,Co)Se2-GA hybrid a competitive alternative to noble metal based catalysts for water splitting.

TL;DR: The form for the exact exchange energy density for a density that decays with Gaussian-type behavior at long range is derived and the X3LYP extended functional is proposed, which significantly enlarges the field of applications for density functional theory.
Abstract: We derive here the form for the exact exchange energy density for a density that decays with Gaussian-type behavior at long range. This functional is intermediate between the B88 and the PW91 exchange functionals. Using this modified functional to match the form expected for Gaussian densities, we propose the X3LYP extended functional. We find that X3LYP significantly outperforms Becke three parameter Lee–Yang–Parr (B3LYP) for describing van der Waals and hydrogen bond interactions, while performing slightly better than B3LYP for predicting heats of formation, ionization potentials, electron affinities, proton affinities, and total atomic energies as validated with the extended G2 set of atoms and molecules. Thus X3LYP greatly enlarges the field of applications for density functional theory. In particular the success of X3LYP in describing the water dimer (with Re and De within the error bars of the most accurate determinations) makes it an excellent candidate for predicting accurate ligand–protein and ligand–DNA interactions.

TL;DR: A novel four-image encryption scheme based on the quaternion Fresnel transforms (QFST), computer generated hologram and the two-dimensional Logistic-adjusted-Sine map (LASM) is presented and the validity of the proposed image encryption technique is demonstrated.
Abstract: A novel four-image encryption scheme based on the quaternion Fresnel transforms (QFST), computer generated hologram and the two-dimensional (2D) Logistic-adjusted-Sine map (LASM) is presented. To treat the four images in a holistic manner, two types of the quaternion Fresnel transform (QFST) are defined and the corresponding calculation method for a quaternion matrix is derived. In the proposed method, the four original images, which are represented by quaternion algebra, are processed holistically in a vector manner by using QFST first. Then the input complex amplitude, which is constructed by the components of the QFST-transformed plaintext images, is encoded by Fresnel transform with two virtual independent random phase masks (RPM). In order to avoid sending entire RPMs to the receiver side for decryption, the RPMs are generated by utilizing 2D–LASM, which results that the amount of the key data is reduced dramatically. Subsequently, by using Burch’s method and the phase-shifting interferometry, the encrypted computer generated hologram is fabricated. To improve the security and weaken the correlation, the encrypted hologram is scrambled base on 2D–LASM. Experiments demonstrate the validity of the proposed image encryption technique.
