Abstract: In many flexible assembly systems, base components are transported with pallets; parts to be mounted onto the base ones are transported by trays with no pallets. When an assembly operation is performed by using some parts in a tray but not all, the tray with the remaining parts still occupies a buffer space. In this way, an assembly/disassembly material flow is formed. In such a material flow, deadlock can occur both in the base component and part flow. Furthermore, the assembly operations can also result in a deadlock. Thus, it is a great challenge to tackle deadlocks in such processes. This paper models them using resource-oriented Petri nets. Based on the models, a deadlock control policy is proposed and proved to be computationally efficient and less conservative than the existing policies in the literature. An industrial case study is used to show the results.

Abstract: Radar high-resolution range profile (HRRP) is very sensitive to time-shift and target-aspect variation; therefore, HRRP-based radar automatic target recognition (RATR) requires efficient time-shift invariant features and robust feature templates. Although higher order spectra are a set of well-known time-shift invariant features, direct use of them (except for power spectrum) is impractical due to their complexity. A method for calculating the Euclidean distance in higher order spectra feature space is proposed in this paper, which avoids calculating the higher order spectra, effectively reducing the computation complexity and storage requirement. Moreover, according to the widely used scattering center model, theoretical analysis and experimental results in this paper show that the feature vector extracted from the average profile in a small target-aspect sector has better generalization performance than the average feature vector in the same sector when both of them are used as feature templates in HRRP-based RATR. The proposed Euclidean distance calculation method and average profile-based template database are applied to two classification algorithms [the template matching method (TMM) and the radial basis function network (RBFN)] to evaluate the recognition performances of higher order spectra features. Experimental results for measured data show that the power spectrum has the best recognition performance among higher order spectra.

Abstract: In this letter, we design non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) for multiple-antenna relaying networks. The receive antennas at the mobile users are assumed to adopt maximal ratio combining (MRC), whereas the transmit antenna that maximizes the instantaneous signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) at the relay is selected. The system outage performance is investigated and closed-form expressions for the exact outage probability are derived. Furthermore, we obtain the lower bound of the outage probability. Finally, simulation results are presented to show the correctness of the theoretical analysis and the superiority of NOMA.

Abstract: This letter presents a dual-band inverted-F multiple-input-multiple-output (MIMO) antenna with improved isolation, covering the 2.4/5-GHz wireless local networks (WLAN) band. The proposed MIMO antenna is composed of two symmetrical winding inverted-F antenna elements. The two antenna elements are closely spaced with about 0.115 λ 0 of the lower band. The high isolation is achieved by building two decoupling devices, a meandering resonant branch and an inverted T-shaped slot etched on the ground for the higher band and the lower band, respectively. Furthermore, two U-shaped slits achieving better impedance matching are etched on the 50-Ω feeding lines to broaden the bandwidth of the high band. The impedance bandwidth (S 11 <; -10 dB) of the proposed antenna covers 2.4-2.48 GHz in the lower band and 5.15-5.825 GHz in the upper band, and the proposed configuration obtains 15-dB isolation within the 2.4- and 5-GHz WLAN bands, which shows a significant improvement compared to the initial design of the MIMO antenna. The simulation and measurement results indicate that the proposed inverted-F MIMO antenna system is quite suitable for WLAN applications.
