TL;DR: A local feature extraction method based on SIFT that can effectively describe the pollen image and is robust to the rotation, translation and scaling of the image is presented.
Abstract: Biological particle automatic classification is an important issue in index tasking for people with pollen hypersensitivity. This paper attempts to present a local feature extraction method based on SIFT for automatic 3D pollen image recognition. In order to solve major issues in previous studies, high rate of redundant information, high feature dimensions and low recognition rate should be taken into account. Therefore, this work focuses on a four-part novel approach, including constructing 3D Gaussian pyramid to obtain muti-scale pollen images, computing the local differential vector to explore local key points, filtering the key points by inter-layer contrast, and extracting the statistical histogram descriptor of the key points as discriminant feature for automatic classification of 3D pollen images. Experiments are performed on three standard pollen image datasets including Confocal, Pollenmonitor and CHMontior. It is concluded that the descriptor can effectively describe the pollen image and is robust to the rotation, translation and scaling of the image.

TL;DR: In this paper, a traffic image enhancement model based on illumination adjustment and depth of field difference is proposed to improve the clarity and color fidelity of traffic images under the complex environment of haze and uneven illumination and promote road traffic safety monitoring.
Abstract: In order to improve the clarity and color fidelity of traffic images under the complex environment of haze and uneven illumination and promote road traffic safety monitoring, a traffic image enhancement model based on illumination adjustment and depth of field difference is proposed. The algorithm is based on Retinex theory, uses dark channel principle to obtain image depth of the field, and uses spectral clustering algorithm to cluster image depth. After the subimages are divided, the local haze concentration is estimated according to the depth of field and the subimages are adaptively enhanced and fused. In addition, the illumination component is obtained by multiscale guided filtering to maintain the edge characteristics of the image, and the uneven illumination problem is solved by adjusting the curve function. The experimental results show that the proposed model can effectively enhance the uneven illumination and haze weather image in the traffic scene and the visual effect of the images is good. The generated image has rich details, improves the quality of traffic images, and can meet the needs of traffic practical application.

TL;DR: In this paper, the numerical solution of three-dimensional second-order hyperbolic telegraph equations using an efficient local meshless method based on radial basis function (RBF) was studied.
Abstract: Abstract This research work is to study the numerical solution of three-dimensional second-order hyperbolic telegraph equations using an efficient local meshless method based on radial basis function (RBF). The model equations are used in nuclear material science and in the modeling of vibrations of structures. The explicit time integration technique is utilized to semi-discretize the model in the time direction whereas the space derivatives of the model are discretized by the proposed local meshless procedure based on multiquadric RBF. Numerical experiments are performed with the proposed numerical scheme for rectangular and non-rectangular computational domains. The proposed method solutions are converging quickly in comparison with the different existing numerical methods in the recent literature.

TL;DR: Findings reveal that oxidative stress of T cells caused by HFD may be a key factor leading to glucose metabolism reduction and proliferative capability and function impairment of T Cells, and LA, as a potent agonist, could promote Nrf2 nuclear translocation and up-regulate expression of NRF2 target genes, which can eliminate excess ROS and restore redox balance of cells.
Abstract: The incidence of obesity and metabolic disease continues to rise, mainly associated with consumption of a high-fat diet (HFD). Previous studies have indicated that HFD could disturb the immune system, leading to immunodeficiency and inflammation. Several mechanisms have been postulated to account for immunodeficiency associated with HFD, one being oxidative stress. To further investigate the effects of HFD on glucose metabolism and proliferative capability of T cells and the protective effects of α-lipoic acid (LA), male C57BL/6J mice were fed a normal chow (10% fat), an HFD (60% fat), an LA supplement (HFD +0.1%LA), and a N-acetyl-L-cysteine supplement (HFD +0.1% NAC) for 10 weeks. Results showed that 10-week HFD increased intracellular reactive oxygen species (ROS) production, induced oxidative stress state formation, inhibited glucose uptake, decreased ATP concentration, reduced proliferative rate, and dampened IL-2 production of T cells of mice. Administration of LA significantly alleviated th...

TL;DR: A refined hybrid particle swarm optimization by combining with bacterial foraging optimization is proposed for odor source localization of a swarm of robots that can find an odor source with higher success rate.
Abstract: Odor source localization is a challenging task for mobile robots in the real world. A refined hybrid particle swarm optimization by combining with bacterial foraging optimization is proposed for odor source localization of a swarm of robots. In the proposed algorithm, a chemotaxis operation is integrated into particle swarm optimization to lead robots to track a plume, and an elimination-dispersal operation is adopted to prevent particles trapping in local minim. Simulation results show that the proposed method can find an odor source with higher success rate.
