Abstract: This communication reports a pioneering study on the synthesis of BiVO 4 and photocatalytic reduction of Cr(VI)-polluted wastewaters. Monoclinic phase BiVO 4 micron-crystals with adjustable morphology were synthesized via a solid-phase route. The structures, morphology, optical properties of the BiVO 4 micron-crystals were characterized by X-ray diffraction, field emission scanning electron microscopy, UV-vis diffuse reflectance spectra, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy spectra, and photocurrent measurements. Besides, their photocatalytic properties were tested for the reduction of aqueous Cr(VI) under visible light (l > 420 nm) irradiation. The photocatalytic tests showed that the photocatalytic activities of BiVO 4 powders in aqueous Cr(VI) depended on the dark adsorption amount for Cr(VI) and number of photogenerated carriers. BiVO 4 -(c) exhibited the highest photocatalytic reduction efficiency that attributed to highest separation and transfer efficiency of photogenerated electrons and holes. Besides, effects of photocatalytic experiment parameters (including dosage of photocatalyst and coexistent anions and cations) on the Cr(VI) removal rate by BiVO 4 -(c) were also investigated, and •OH play an important role in the BiVO 4 photocatalytic reduction Cr(VI). TL;DR: The experiment results indicate that the proposed metric supplies a satisfactory correlation with subjective evaluation scores, demonstrating effectiveness in the quantitative evaluation for COVID‐19 disease progression.
Abstract: Blur is a key property in the perception of COVID-19 computed tomography (CT) image manifestations. Typically, blur causes edge extension, which brings shape changes in infection regions. Tchebichef moments (TM) have been verified efficiently in shape representation. Intuitively, disease progression of same patient over time during the treatment is represented as different blur degrees of infection regions, since different blur degrees cause the magnitudes change of TM on infection regions image, blur of infection regions can be captured by TM. With the above observation, a longitudinal objective quantitative evaluation method for COVID-19 disease progression based on TM is proposed. COVID-19 disease progression CT image database (COVID-19 DPID) is built to employ radiologist subjective ratings and manual contouring, which can test and compare disease progression on the CT images acquired from the same patient over time. Then the images are preprocessed, including lung automatic segmentation, longitudinal registration, slice fusion, and a fused slice image with region of interest (ROI) is obtained. Next, the gradient of a fused ROI image is calculated to represent the shape. The gradient image of fused ROI is separated into same size blocks, a block energy is calculated as quadratic sum of non-direct current moment values. Finally, the objective assessment score is obtained by TM energy-normalized applying block variances. We have conducted experiment on COVID-19 DPID and the experiment results indicate that our proposed metric supplies a satisfactory correlation with subjective evaluation scores, demonstrating effectiveness in the quantitative evaluation for COVID-19 disease progression.

TL;DR: In this paper, density functional theory calculations have been performed to investigate the properties of metal-doped covalent organic frameworks and their interactions with the SO2 gas molecule, and it is found that a single metal atom (including Li, Na, K, and Sc) doped at the top of phenyls within the tetra(4-dihydroxyborylphenyl) silane (TBPS) building block can easily lose its valence electrons and can be positively charged.
Abstract: Covalent organic frameworks are unique for their highly open architecture and attractive for use as promising gas adsorption and storage carriers. In this work, density functional theory calculations have been performed to investigate the properties of metal-doped covalent organic frameworks and their interactions with the SO2 gas molecule. It is found that a single metal atom (including Li, Na, K, and Sc) doped at the top of phenyls within the tetra(4-dihydroxyborylphenyl) silane (TBPS) building block of covalent organic frameworks can easily lose its valence electrons and can be positively charged. The SO2 gas molecule could be stably absorbed onto the metal-doped covalent organic frameworks. The absorbed SO2 molecule interacts with Li, Na, K, and Sc metal-doped covalent organic frameworks by the dominant donor-acceptor delocalization between 1-center lone pair of an oxygen atom within SO2 and 1-center non-Lewis lone pairs of the doped metal atom.

TL;DR: Carohydrates and carboxylic acids were found to be the main substrates used in dormant season, whereas amino acids, polymers and phenolic acids were increasingly utilized by the microbial communities in growing season.
Abstract: Under the circumstance of wetland degradation, we used Biolog EcoPlatesTM method to investigate the impact of ecological restoration on the function of topsoil microbial communities by monitoring their metabolic diversity around Chaohu lakeside wetland. Four restoration patterns were selected, including reed shoaly land (RL), poplar plantation land (PL), abandoned shoaly grassland (GL) and cultivated flower land (FL). The result showed a rapid growth trend at the initial stage of incubation, following the fastest change rate at 72 h in both dormant and growing seasons. The Average Well Color development (AWCD) values of RL pattern was the highest at the detection points of each culture time, while the GL were the lowest. The calculation of diversity indicators also displayed significant lower McIntosh index in dormant season and Shannon-Wiener index in growing season in GL than in the others (P < 0.05). Carbohydrates and carboxylic acids were found to be the main substrates used in dormant season, whereas amino acids, polymers and phenolic acids were increasingly utilized by the microbial communities in growing season. We observed soil total potassium as the key factor that significantly affected the utilization efficiency of different carbon sources in both seasons (P < 0.05).
