Abstract: Vibrio parahaemolyticus uses bacterial secretion systems and integrative and conjugative elements (ICEs) to induce various diseases and to adapt to harsh environments, respectively. Information pertaining to the identity of secreted proteins and functional characterization of ICEs has been previously reported, but the relationship between these elements remains unclear. Herein we investigated secreted proteins of V. parahaemolyticus strains JHY20 and JHY20△ICE using two-dimensional gel electrophoresis and LC-MS/MS, which led to the identification of an ICE-associated secreted protein - dihydrolipoamide dehydrogenase (DLDH). Considering the data related to its physical and biochemical characterization, we predicted that DLDH is a novel immunogenic protein and associated with virulence in JHY20. Our findings indicate a potential relationship between ICE-associated transport and secreted proteins and shed light on the function of such transport mechanisms. We believe that our data should enhance our understanding of mobile genetic elements.

Abstract: By combining the single-order dispersion properties of quasi-sinusoidal single-order diffraction transmission gratings (QSTG) and the single-foci focusing properties of annulus-sector-shaped-element binary Gabor zone plate (ASZP), we propose a novel focusing single-order diffraction transmission grating (FSDTG). Different from the diffraction patterns of a normal transmission grating (TG), it has a focusing plane perpendicular to the grating surface. Numerical simulations are carried out to verify its diffraction patterns in the framework of Fresnel-Kirchhoff diffraction. Higher-order diffraction components of higher harmonics can be effectively suppressed by the FSDTG we designed. And we find that the focal depth and resolving power are only determined by the structure parameters of our FSDTG by theoretical estimations.

Abstract: The aim of this work was to develop a sensitive, simple and direct procedure for the determination of Cu, Cd, Cr, Pb, Mn and Al in the cooking wine by HR-CS GFAAS with a minimum sample pre-treatment. The analyses of the six metal elements were conducted using a high resolution continuum source atomic absorption spectrometer. The cooking wine as sample was just diluted in ultrapure water with 1.0% (v/v) HNO3 and the analytical lines of the six metal elements were selected scientifically. The correlation coefficients better than 0.99 were obtained and the limits of detection were 0.86, 0.08, 0.28, 0.81, 0.61 and 1.54 μg/L for Cu, Cd, Cr, Pb, Mn and Al, respectively. Recoveries varied form 96.1% to 105.7%. The proposed method was applied to the determination of the six metal elements in the cooking wine and the results showed that the mass concentrations of Cu, Cd, Cr, Pb, Mn and Al were 2.10, 0.177, 7.98, 1.86, 22.3 and 217.2 μg/L, respectively. There was a good agreement between the proposed method and the microwave digestion-HR-CS GFAAS method, and F-test and t-test at 95% of confidence had no significant difference. Therefore, the proposed method was accurate and stable with a high practical value. It provided scientific basis for quality control in food industries.

Abstract: Black soybean peptides (BSPs) with potent antioxidant activity were purified from black soybean protein hydrolysates (BSH) by using the ultrafiltration (UF) and macroporous adsorption resin (MAR), and in vivo antioxidant activity of the fraction BSP-DA-c was evaluated in aging mice induced by D-galactose. The results showed that orally administration of BSP-DA-c fraction at the dose of 500 and 1000 mg/kg per day could remarkably increase (P<0.05) the activity of SOD and GSH-Px in liver and the activity of GSH-Px in serum, the contents of MDA in serum and liver were reduced significantly (P<0.05), inferred that BSP-DA-c had strong antioxidant activity in mice.

Abstract: This paper presents an experimental investigation on the effect of temperature on resistivity of Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymer (CFRP) materials. A series of tests were conducted on three types of CFRP materials, namely pure CFRP material, CFRP with carbon powder (4% in weight) and CFRP with nano-silica (4% in weight). Test results showed that adding carbon powder into the epoxy resin decreases the initial electric resistance R0 and initial volume resistivity ρ0 while adding nano-silica increases R0 and ρ0 compared to pure CFRP material. Preheating cycle test results showed that the volume resistivity of all three types of specimens linearly increases with increasing temperature. CFRP with added nano-silica exhibits higher temperature sensitivity than CFRP with added carbon powder compared to the lowest temperature sensitivity for pure CFRP material. In addition, temperature cycle test results showed that CFRP specimens have approximately stable values of volume resistivity. Both CFRP specimens with added carbon powder or nano-silica exhibit a recognizable trend of first decrease and then increase in volume resistivity with increasing temperature both during heating and cooling cycles. CFRP with added carbon powder mainly shows Negative Temperature Coefficient (NTC) effect in the temperature range of −40 to 40°C and Positive Temperature Coefficient (PTC) effect from 40 to 80°C. CFRP with added nano-silica mainly exhibits PTC effect in the temperature domain of −15 to 80°C and NTC effect from −40 to −15°C. A mathematical-physical model with respect to the thermal effect was presented based on the Eshelby-Mori-Tanaka (EMT) approach and mesomechanics method. The results obtained with the model agree well with the test results considering the temperature domain of PTC effect, which indicates that the proposed model is effective in characterizing the variation of fractional change in resistance (ΔR/R0) at varying temperature.
