01 Jan 2020TL;DR: It is now widely recognized that a large-scale epidemic diffusion can conceivably cause many deaths and more people of permanent sequela, which presents a severe challenge to the local or regional health-care systems.
Abstract: Disastrous epidemic such as SARS, H1N1, or smallpox released by some terrorists can significantly affect people’s life. The outbreak of infections in Europe in 2011 is another example. The infection, from a strain of Escherichia coli, can lead to kidney failure and death and is difficult to treat with antibiotics. A recent example of epidemic outbreak was the 2014–2015 Ebola pandemic in West Africa, which infected approximately 28,610 individuals and approximately 11,300 lives were lost in Guinea, Liberia, and Sierra Leone. It is now widely recognized that a large-scale epidemic diffusion can conceivably cause many deaths and more people of permanent sequela, which presents a severe challenge to the local or regional health-care systems.

TL;DR: A novel model called the ADTV-SRGAN is designed based on the adaptive diagonal total-variation generative adversarial network to address problems that the loss function does not correlate well with perceptual vision in super-resolution methodsbased on the convolutional neural network.
Abstract: To address problems that the loss function does not correlate well with perceptual vision in super-resolution methods based on the convolutional neural network(CNN), a novel model called the ADTV-SRGAN is designed based on the adaptive diagonal total-variation generative adversarial network. Combined with global perception and the local structure adaptive method, spatial loss based on the diagonal variation model is proposed to make the loss function can be adjusted according to the spatial features. Pixel loss and characteristic loss are in combination with the spatial loss for the fusing optimization of the total loss function such that high-frequency details of the images are maintained to improve their quality. The results of experiment show that the proposed method can obtain competitive results in objective evaluations. In subjective assessment, images reconstructed by it are clear, delicate, and natural, and it preserved edge- and texture-related details.

TL;DR: The test results indicate that the automatic irrigation system based on ZigBee and fuzzy control strategy can calculate crop water requirement quickly and accurately, and realize automatic water-saving irrigation effectively.
Abstract: Water-saving irrigation is affected by a variety of factors. So it is difficult to establish a precise control model. In order to realize automatic,real-time and suitable irrigation,an automatic irrigation system based on ZigBee and fuzzy control strategy is designed. The system collects soil water potential and environmental meteorological information through ZigBee wireless sensor networks, chooses farmland evapotranspiration and soil water potential as input while crop water requirement as output, uses fuzzy inference rules and piecewise fuzzy control strategy to obtain crop water requirement and form intelligent irrigation system, adopts ARM9 microprocessor and develops network node based on embedded Linux to realize convergence of data and remote data and command forwarding of GPRS communication mode. The test results indicate that the system can calculate crop water requirement quickly and accurately, and realize automatic water-saving irrigation effectively. It is also economical and practical, especially suitable for fine irrigation in small and medium scale irrigation areas.

13 Sep 2020TL;DR: A heuristic algorithm called OSCD (Online Smooth Charging Decision) is proposed to coordinate the charging rate of EVs and achieves a nice trade-off between cost and smoothness, while keeping the ratio of service rejection near zero.
Abstract: A large number of electric vehicles (EVs) operating in cities result in huge charging demands. For a charging station, it is important to balance between the immediate charging cost and the future maintenance cost. In this paper, we model the two optimization objectives and employ the efficiency coefficient method to transform the two optimization objectives into a single one. In addition, we propose a heuristic algorithm called OSCD (Online Smooth Charging Decision) to coordinate the charging rate of EVs. To evaluate the effectiveness of OSCD, a series of simulations are conducted based on a real-world charging dataset of EVs. The results show that OSCD achieves a nice trade-off between cost and smoothness, while keeping the ratio of service rejection near zero.

TL;DR: In this paper, a feed-forward compensation (FFC) strategy for MC operation in abnormal input voltage conditions, including voltage unbalanced, non-sinusoidal and instantaneous drop, is presented.
Abstract: Since the matrix converter (MC) has no intermediate DC energy storage link, any disturbance at the input will affect the output. To guarantee the safe and stable operation of MC system, a feed-forward compensation (FFC) strategy for MC operation in abnormal input voltage conditions, including voltage unbalanced, non-sinusoidal and instantaneous drop, is presented in this paper. The drive performance on the Space Vector Modulation (SVM) Strategy of MC under abnormal input voltage conditions is deeply analyzed. It is proved that the unbalance, non-sinusoidal and instantaneous drop of the input voltage can be compensated by real-time adjusting the SVM coefficient of the control system. The output voltage of MC is kept at normal value by compensating the change of virtual DC voltage. Finally, the control strategy is verified by simulation and experiment.
