TL;DR: Results indicate that a combined treatment of 1-MCP and 6-BA could be a good candidate for maintaining the visual quality and enhancing the nutritional value in broccoli during storage at 15 °C.
Abstract: BACKGOUND: Broccoli deteriorates very quickly after harvest at ambient temperature due to the loss of green colour and the consequent yellowing of florets. To search for an effective method to control quality deterioration, the effect of 1-methylcyclopropene (1-MCP) combined with 6-benzylaminopurine (6-BA) treatment on visual quality, antioxidant enzymes and bioactive compounds in broccoli florets were investigated.
RESULTS: A combined treatment of 2.5 µL L−1 1-MCP and 200 mg L−1 6-BA significantly reduced the increase of lightness (L*) value, and retained a high level for the hue value (H) and chlorophyll content. Superoxide dismutase, ascobate peroxidase and catalase activities increased while the activity of peroxidase decreased during storage in treated samples in comparison with the controls. The combined treatment enhanced the biosynthesis of glucosinolate and the formation of the anticarcinogen sulforaphane, which improved the health benefit of broccoli.
CONCLUSION: These results indicate that a combined treatment of 1-MCP and 6-BA could be a good candidate for maintaining the visual quality and enhancing the nutritional value in broccoli during storage at 15 °C. © 2012 Society of Chemical Industry

TL;DR: Tunable plasmon-induced transparency (PIT) effect is studied in a PLASmonic device on the basis of the metal-insulator-metal (MIM) structure which consists of trapezoid and hexagonal cavities as mentioned in this paper.
Abstract: Tunable plasmon-induced transparency (PIT) effect is studied in a plasmonic device on the basis of the metal-insulator-metal (MIM) structure which consists of trapezoid and hexagonal cavities The transmission characteristics are numerically studied in detail by the finite element method (FEM) Diverse geometrical parameters were altered to evaluate the characteristics of the structure, and the coupled mode theory (CMT) is utilized to verify the simulation results The sensing characteristics of the device could also be analyzed by the simulative results which achieved from the transmission spectra The structure we proposed has the capacity and potential to be utilized on integrated optical circuit field

TL;DR: In this article, the authors characterized the boundedness and compactness of a Stevic-Sharma operator from Hardy spaces to Bloch spaces, and showed that it can be computed in polynomial time.
Abstract: Let \(H(\mathbb{D})\) denote the space of all analytic functions on the unit disc \(\mathbb{D}\) of the complex plane ℂ, \(\psi_{1},\psi_{2}\in H(\mathbb{D}) \), and φ be an analytic self-map of \(\mathbb{D}\). In this paper, we characterize the boundedness and compactness of a Stevic-Sharma operator \(T _{\psi_{1},\psi_{2},\varphi}\) from Hardy spaces \(H^{p}\) (with \(1\leq p<\infty\)) to the logarithmic Bloch spaces \(\mathcal{B}_{\mathrm{log}}\).

TL;DR: The uncertainty analysis indicated that sectors with bigger output values show higher uncertainty, and the input quantities of emission intensity and final demand were the main contributors to outcome uncertainties.
Abstract: The final demand embedded emissions are mainly estimated by considering the intermediate industrial production. However, the industrial consumption embedded emissions are not well investigated. This study estimates both the industrial production and consumption embedded emissions of Chinese households. Our results indicate significant differences between household industrial production and consumption embedded emissions. These different patterns are due to the different set of emission multipliers, Leontief inverse vectors, and final pull effects employed in embedding the intermediate carbon consumption to final demand. "Electricity, Steam, Hot water production and supply" was the largest source of both urban and rural household's industrial production embedded emissions. The largest amount of urban household's industrial consumption embedded emissions was from 'Miscellaneous intangible products'; while, for rural households it was 'Food and Tobacco'. Shandong had the highest industrial embedded emissions from both approaches; however, the main sources of its embedded production and consumption emissions were different. This embedding of the intermediate industrial consumption emissions to household final demand provides new insights, for mitigating the household embedded carbon consumption. The uncertainty analysis indicated that sectors with bigger output values show higher uncertainty, and the input quantities of emission intensity and final demand were the main contributors to outcome uncertainties.
