01 Jan 2017TL;DR: In this article, the authors explore the link between sustainable development and corporate social responsibility from an economic perspective and show that the adoption of CSR initiatives has a significant impact on the sustainable development as core business strategies.
Abstract: In recent years, corporate social responsibility has become a major focus of interest not only for business management but also for economics. Corporate social responsibility indicates a duty to work for social benefit since 1970s. Corporations are voluntarily integrating sustainable development concerns into their operations and their interactions with stakeholders. This paper aims to explore the link to the concept of sustainable development and corporate social responsibility from an economic perspective. In theoretical literature, CSR discourse emerged as a reaction for sustainable development. Recently, growing perception that corporations can contribute to sustainable development by promoting social responsibility that include consumer interests. The adoption of CSR initiatives has a significant impact on the sustainable development as core business strategies.

TL;DR: A simple and cost-effective method based on image analysis that can be used in the objective assessment/measurement of tremor and presents the use and advantages of the devised system on a sample artificial data set.
Abstract: In th is study, we introduce a simple and cost-effective method based on image analysis that can be used in the objective assessment/measurement of tremor. Tremor can be defined as the involuntary rhythmic movement of body parts (usually hands). Types of tremor include, but not limited to essential tremor, athetose, chorea, and flapping tremor. Objective assessment of tremor is crucial in the diagnosis of many neuromuscular d iseases. Velocity and acceleration sensors utilizing semiconductor technology a re widely used for measurement of tremor. However, one major weakness of this type of sensors is that they cannot sa tisfactorily track slow or constant speed motion, because of their poor response in the low-frequency region, where some of tremors may have some significant spectral components. Therefore, accurate measurement of tremor for the diagnosis or prognosis of movement disorders is an important issue. The method that we devise consists of an in fra-red LED that is attached to the body part whose motion to be measured and a simple CCD camera that is a ttached to a personal computer. The frames acquired by th e system first saved into a movie file, and then analyzed using a software tool that we have developed. We present the use and advantages of the devised system on a sample artificial data se t.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors discuss four major contributions that psychology brings to the study of international migration-studying migrants' internal psychological experiences, incorporating a developmental perspective, conducting experimental studies, and integrating across levels of analysis.
Abstract: This research note addresses the current and potential future role of psychologists in the study of international migration. We review ways in which psychologists have contributed to the study of migration, as well as ways in which psychological scholarship could be integrated with work from other social science fields. Broadly, we discuss four major contributions that psychology brings to the study of international migration-studying migrants' internal psychological experiences, incorporating a developmental perspective, conducting experimental studies, and integrating across levels of analysis. Given the position of psychology as a 'hub science' connecting more traditional social sciences with health and medical sciences, we argue for a more prominent role for psychologists within the study of international migration. Such a role is intended to complement the roles of other social scientists and to create a more interdisciplinary way forward for the field of migration studies. The research note concludes with an agenda for further scholarship on migration.
