TL;DR: In this article, two tree-based algorithms, namely M5 rule tree (M5RT) and M5 regression tree(M5RGT), were used to compute sediment transport in an open channel flow.
Abstract: To reduce the problem of sedimentation in open channels, calculating flow velocity is critical. Undesirable operating costs arise due to sedimentation problems. To overcome these problems, the development of machine learning based models may provide reliable results. Recently, numerous studies have been conducted to model sediment transport in non-deposition condition however, the main deficiency of the existing studies is utilization of a limited range of data in model development. To tackle this drawback, six data sets with wide ranges of pipe size, volumetric sediment concentration, channel bed slope, sediment size and flow depth are used for the model development in this study. Moreover, two tree-based algorithms, namely M5 rule tree (M5RT) and M5 regression tree (M5RGT) are implemented, and results are compared to the traditional regression equations available in the literature. The results show that machine learning approaches outperform traditional regression models. The tree-based algorithms, M5RT and M5RGT, provided satisfactory results in contrast to their regression-based alternatives with RMSE = 1.184 and RMSE = 1.071, respectively. In order to recommend a practical solution, the tree structure algorithms are supplied to compute sediment transport in an open channel flow.

TL;DR: The implementation results show that d-MUL can be very practical for small d, and it remains as an interesting algorithm to further explore for parallel implementation and cryptographic applications.
Abstract: This paper aims to answer whether d-MUL, the multidimensional scalar point multiplication algorithm, can be implemented efficiently. d-MUL is known to access costly matrix operations and requires memory access frequently. In the first part of the paper, we derive several theoretical results on the structure and the construction of the addition chains in d-MUL. These results are interesting on their own right. In the second part of the paper, we exploit our theoretical results, and propose an optimized variant of d-MUL. Our implementation results show that d-MUL can be very practical for small d, and it remains as an interesting algorithm to further explore for parallel implementation and cryptographic applications.

01 Jul 2018TL;DR: A printed quasi Yagi antenna realized for almost whole UHF band is given in this paper, which includes a printed feed dipole with reflector and two director elements, which provides significant enhancement in the bandwidth.
Abstract: In this study, a printed quasi Yagi antenna realized for almost whole UHF band is given. Within overall UHF band, the performances of three well-known ISM frequencies of 433, 866 and 915 MHz, which are used in many wireless applications such as LoRa, IoT, M2M, M-bus, and RFID, are desired to be kept relatively better. The proposed antenna includes a printed feed dipole with reflector and two director elements. The directors are quite thick and closely spaced to feed dipole, which provides significant enhancement in the bandwidth. According to gathered results, the antenna has more than 80% bandwidth for S 11 < −6.5 dB between 407 and 955 MHz where return loss values are higher than 10 dB in the bands 417–493 MHz and 700–920 MHz covering three mentioned UHF ISM bands. Additionally, it has more than 10 dB front-to-back ratio and 4 dBi realized gain for the frequencies lower than 500 MHz and higher than 850 MHz, which again includes 433/866/915 MHz bands; while the gain values in the remaining band are relatively low as being 3.5 dBi on the average.

02 May 2018TL;DR: A genetic algorithm method with multi-objective approach is proposed for selecting the features that give high performance ratio in classifying cardiac arrhythmia and the results were compared with the classical genetic algorithm which aims to improve accuracy.
Abstract: To identify appropriate features in classification studies is a common problem in many areas In this study, a genetic algorithm method with multi-objective approach is proposed for selecting the features that give high performance ratio in classifying cardiac arrhythmia Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT) were used for extracting features from Normal, right bundle branch block, left bundle branch block and paced rhythm recordings of electrocardiography (ECG) signals which were taken from the MIT-BIH cardiac arrhythmia database Using 13 different wavelet types, 208 features were obtained by the DWT method Among these features, a minimum number of feature sets were chosen to provide high performance in classification Then, the classification results were compared with the results of the classical genetic algorithm which aims to improve accuracy
