TL;DR: It is presented that using turntable for picking or loading operation offers time savings over traditional manual material handling in most cases.
Abstract: In this study, we mainly investigate the impacts of usage of a raisable turntable as a material handling equipment in forward-picking area of the warehouse with respect to the loading and unloading operation of a box in a pallet For unloading, we evaluate expected time to pick (extract) cases from a pallet We develop a varying picking time expression with respect to the human factors and the positions of cases in a pallet to formulate expected picking time We also conduct a detailed experimental design to investigate the effects of several important parameters such as pick list size and number of cases in a pallet on picking time We show that human factors and picking from different positions, as well as number of picks, have an important impact on extracting time of cases Therefore, we present that using turntable for picking or loading operation offers time savings over traditional manual material handling in most cases

Abstract: Sustainable development has provided a significant conceptual approach for the solutions of problems on the triangle of industrialization, urbanization, and population increase. In order to advance the current and future welfare of its members, European Union (EU) has worked to build its development model on the principles of sustainability. The involvement of business organizations to this process is viewed critical to achieve the overarching sustainability principle. However the adoption of sustainability seems to be more problematic among the organizations in the new member and candidate states. The aim of current study is to discuss why and how corporate social responsibility (CSR) can provide a useful framework for these countries in their integration process to EU's sustainability policy. In the study, after examining the current understanding of CSR in these countries, a network oriented approach is proposed to contribute to the generation of a sustainable future in an enlarged Europe. TL;DR: The overall benefits of the mobile systems in the business are reviewed since it has a critical value for the diversity of ISs and how mobility works and how organizations can extract maximum value from the mobile services in a secure way are explained.
Abstract: Mobile Information Systems (ISs) have an important effect in organizations. They are not limited to the office, people can use mobile devices that they carry with them and access the network resources. They do not replace traditional information systems, but they are planned and designed with the unique features of wireless communication. With the increasing level of different information technologies, corporate level systems have the potential to change how business people efficiently work together. The need for a mobile user to have uninterrupted and secure access to information on the network should be considered and the necessary policies should be established for regular information flow in the organization. Our paper reviews the overall benefits of the mobile systems in the business since it has a critical value for the diversity of ISs. It also explains how mobility works and how organizations can extract maximum value from the mobile services in a secure way.

TL;DR: A feasible numerical prediction model for the duration of medical services in a medical institution that could be used by the hospital management within their quality assurance and improvement processes and a freeware software tool which implements an adaptive artificial neural network-based fuzzy inference system with a user-friendly interface is developed.
Abstract: The aim of this study is twofold. First one is to derive a feasible numerical prediction model for the duration of medical services in a medical institution that could be used by the hospital management within their quality assurance and improvement processes. The second aim is to develop a freeware software tool, which implements an adaptive artificial neural network-based fuzzy inference system with a user-friendly interface that can be effectively used by both technical and non-technical people. Some promising results have been obtained which show that both of these objectives have been successfully achieved to some extent.

TL;DR: In this paper, a coupled system of evolution equations is derived in dimensionless form, by employing the long-wave approximation, and the linear stability analysis is implemented in accordance with the characteristics of each specific case, namely, the constant (DC) and the altering (AC) fields.
Abstract: The nonlinear dynamics of the interface between both perfect and leaky dielectric liquid films, interposed between two parallel electrodes, are investigated under the effect of mixed-frequency electric fields. A coupled system of evolution equations is derived in dimensionless form, by employing the long-wave approximation. The linear stability analysis is implemented in accordance with the characteristics of each specific case, namely, the constant (DC) and the altering (AC) fields. In particular, the response of the system to the multi-mode AC electrical field is analyzed. Assisted by the conclusions of the theoretical investigation, the initial-boundary-value problem associated with the coupled system of evolution equations is solved numerically for several parameter sets. The system behavior is studied by monitoring the evolution process and by examining the steady/quasi-steady pillar formations in the nonlinear regime. The possibility to generate interface profiles of diverse topological forms, to manipulate their features, and to control the time dependent progress and the film rupture by imposing different combinations of frequencies and/or amplitudes of the corresponding mode is confirmed.
