TL;DR: In this article, the influence of process parameters that affect the cutting rate, dimensional shift and surface roughness while machining of porous nickel-titanium (Ni40Ti60) alloy was identified.
Abstract: NiTi is a shape memory alloy, mostly employed in cardiovascular stents, orthopedic implants, orthodontic wires, micro-electromechanical systems and so on. The effective and net shape machining of NiTi is very critical for excellent response of this material in medical and other applications. The present experimental work on wire electrical discharge machining process identifies the influence of process parameters that affect the cutting rate, dimensional shift and surface roughness while machining of porous nickel–titanium (Ni40Ti60) alloy. Porous Ni40Ti60 alloy was produced in-house using powder metallurgy technique. Response surface methodology–based central composite rotatable design has been used for the planning of experiments on wire electrical discharge machining. Empirical relations have been developed between the process parameters (pulse on-time, pulse off-time, servo voltage and peak current) and response variables. Desirability approach has been used for optimizing the three response variables...

TL;DR: A questionnaire based survey and interpretive structural modelling approach have been used to model and analyse key barriers and drive managerial insights.
Abstract: In the highly competitive environment, to be successful and to achieve world-class-manufacturing, organizations must possess both efficient maintenance and effective manufacturing strategies. A strategic approach to improve the performance of maintenance activities is to effectively adapt and implement strategic TPM initiatives in the manufacturing organizations. Total productive maintenance (TPM) is not easy to adopt and implement, due to presence of many barriers. The purpose of this paper is to identify and analyse these barriers. A questionnaire based survey was conducted to rank these barriers. The results of this survey and interpretive structural modelling approach have been used to model and analyse key barriers and drive managerial insights.

TL;DR: In this paper, the photocatalytic efficiency was calculated from absorption spectra obtained using UV-visible spectroscopy, and the degradation was studied as a function of pH also.
Abstract: Methylene blue (MB) and rhodamine B dyes (RB) were degraded from water using zirconium oxide (ZrO 2 ) and zirconium oxide/graphene composites (ZrO 2 /GR) as photocatalyst. The photocatalytic efficiency was calculated from absorption spectra obtained using UV–visible spectroscopy. It has been observed that photodegradation time as well as photocatalytic efficiency increase with the concentration of catalyst up to a certain limit after which effect was reversed. The degradation was studied as a function of pH also. It was found that photocatalytic efficiency was more in alkaline medium than acidic medium. Degradation of RB takes place at higher value of pH as compared to MB. The degradation time for MB was 1 h using ZrO 2 which get reduced to 32 min using ZrO 2 /GR composite and for RB it reduced to 40 min (using ZrO 2 /GR) from 80 min (ZrO 2 ).

TL;DR: In this paper, two vermicomposting units containing cow dung (CD) and biogas plant slurry (BPS) were established, inoculated with Eisenia fetida species of earthworm and allowed to be harvested and characterized.
Abstract: Vermicomposting is a biological process which may be a future technology for the management of animal excreta. This study was undertaken to produce vermicompost from cow dung and biogas plant slurry under field conditions. To achieve the objectives, two vermicomposting units containing cow dung (CD) and biogas plant slurry (BPS) were established, inoculated with Eisenia fetida species of earthworm and allowed to be vermicomposted for 3 months. After 3 months, the vermicompost was harvested and characterized. The results showed that the vermicompost had lower pH, total organic carbon (TOC), organic matter (OM) and carbon/nitrogen ratio (C/N ratio) but higher electrical conductivity (EC), nitrogen, phosphorous and potassium (NPK) content than the raw substrate. The heavy metal content in vermicomposts was higher than raw substrates. During vermicomposting, the CD and BPS were converted into a homogeneous, odourless and stabilized humus-like material. This experiment demonstrates that vermicomposting is an environmentally sustainable method for the management of animal excreta.
