TL;DR: A novel image encryption scheme based on chaotic maps and Vigenère Scheme is proposed and it is shown that the scheme is better in terms of time complexity while keeping Peak Signal to Noise Ratio values same and having almost ideal entropy.
Abstract: Confidentiality of images during data communication is a prime concern of many researchers, as a result, several mechanisms have been proposed for image encryption. An encryption for image is said to be effective if it has large key space, aperiodic nature and sensitive to the initial conditions. In addition, it is also desired that the mechanism must have a good combination of computational speed, security and time complexity. These features can be induced in the encryption schemes by incorporation of chaos during encryption/decryption process. In this paper, a novel image encryption scheme based on chaotic maps and Vigenere Scheme is proposed. This scheme has one round consisting of two steps: diffusion and confusion. The former step involves three stages: forward diffusion, matching process using Vigenere scheme and backward diffusion. In later part, position permutation using chaotic map is used to swap pixel positions. The proposed as well as other mechanisms in literature are implemented in Matlab-2015 and their efficacy are compared using several performance metrics. The simulation results show that our scheme is better in terms of time complexity while keeping Peak Signal to Noise Ratio (PSNR) values same and having almost ideal entropy, Number of Pixels Change Rate (NPCR) and Unified Average Changing Intensity (UACI).

TL;DR: In this article, analytical network process-multi-objective optimization using rational analysis (ANP-MOORA) techniques are used to identify and analyze selected issues in green supply chain management for the implementation of the green concept in industries.
Abstract: Purpose
Industries start focusing on the green concept in supply chain management (SCM) to reduce waste and emission, preserve the quality of natural resources and decrease the consumption of hazardous/harmful materials for better product life cycle, which not only improve environmental performance but also economic performance. But, for industries, it is still very difficult to understand and analyze the effect of individual activities and their corresponding contribution. The purpose of this paper is to identify and analyze selected issues in green supply chain management for the implementation of the green concept in industries.
Design/methodology/approach
To fulfill the objectives of this paper, analytical network process-multi-objective optimization using rational analysis (ANP-MOORA) techniques are used. In the proposed methodologies, different issues, sub-issues, and alternatives are identified for the selection of the best supply chain using ANP which is being followed by the MOORA method.
Findings
Findings of this paper are highly valuable for the Indian manufacturing industries for the management of green supply chain (GSC) issues.
Research limitations/implications
In this research, only selected issues are identified and analyzed for the management of GSCs. Further, it is believed that an ANP-based framework helps to take up the explicit account of multi-criteria decision making (MCDM) approaches in decision making and for improving and selecting the best supply chain. Other issues in GSC can be analyzed and further extended by other MCDM approaches.
Originality/value
This paper identified different type of supply chains and their issues. The systematic way of analyzing the green concept in supply chain helps the researchers and managers to implement green management practices for improving economic and environmental performance.

30 Sep 2014TL;DR: The main focus of the research was to find a technique that can efficiently perform sentiment analysis on big data sets using Hadoop and the experimental results shows that the technique exhibits very good efficiency in handling big sentiment data sets.
Abstract: Rapid increase in the volume of sentiment rich social media on the web has resulted in an increased interest among researchers regarding Sentimental Analysis and opinion mining. However, with so much social media available on the web, sentiment analysis is now considered as a big data task. Hence the conventional sentiment analysis approaches fails to efficiently handle the vast amount of sentiment data available now a days. The main focus of the research was to find such a technique that can efficiently perform sentiment analysis on big data sets. A technique that can categorize the text as positive, negative and neutral in a fast and accurate manner. In the research, sentiment analysis was performed on a large data set of tweets using Hadoop and the performance of the technique was measured in form of speed and accuracy. The experimental results shows that the technique exhibits very good efficiency in handling big sentiment data sets.

TL;DR: A selective algorithm for allocation of cloud resources to end -users on-demand basis is discussed, based on min -min and max-min algorithms, which shows that overall makespan of tasks on given set of VMs minimizes significantly in different scenarios.
Abstract: Modern day continued demand for resource hungry services and applications in IT sector has led to development of Cloud computing. Cloud computing environment involves high cost infrastructure on one hand and need high scale computational resources on the other hand. These resources need to be provisioned (allocation and scheduling) to the end users in most efficient manner so that the tremendous capabilities of cloud are utilized effectively and efficiently. In this paper we discuss a selective algorithm for allocation of cloud resources to end-users on-demand basis. This algorithm is based on min-min and max-min algorithms. These are two conventional task scheduling algorithm. The selective algorithm uses certain heuristics to select between the two algorithms so that overall makespan of tasks on the machines is minimized. The tasks are scheduled on machines in either space shared or time shared manner. We evaluate our provisioning heuristics using a cloud simulator, called CloudSim. We also compared our approach to the statistics obtained when provisioning of resources was done in First-Cum-First- Serve(FCFS) manner. The experimental results show that overall makespan of tasks on given set of VMs minimizes significantly in different scenarios.
