TL;DR: In this article, the consequences of Extreme Response Style (ERS) in cross-cultural research have been discussed, including the internal consistency of measures and the correlation among measures, and results of dimensional analyses.
Abstract: The neglect of the consequences of the Extreme Response Style (ERS) phenomenon in cross-cultural research is documented through a selective literature review. Consideration of ERS differences permitted derivation of three logical consequences that pertain to (a) differences in group means, (b) the internal consistency of measures and the correlation among measures, and (c) results of dimensional analyses. Comparison of U.S. and Korean student samples on a 1 30-item questionnaire revealed stronger ERS in the U.S. sample. Furthermore, the predictions derived from ERS differences were confirmed, thus demonstrating the credibility of the ERS argument. General implications of ERS for cross-cultural research are discussed.

TL;DR: The morphology suggests that ameloblasts secrete a granular precursor for the mineralizing enameline fibrils, and the cap layer of the shark's tooth is considered to be composed of tubular enamel in which the mineralized zones are probably homologous with mammalian enamel, but which is penetrated by odontoblast processes of mesodermal origin.

TL;DR: The relationships between fertility and thirteen variables are examined in three groups of married Korean women, about 400 each from urban, rural, and semi-rural areas, and appear to be stable over time.
Abstract: The relationships between fertility and thirteen variables are examined in three groups of married Korean women, about 400 each from urban, rural, and semi-rural areas. Data were obtained by interview. Age at marriage and family planning practice are the strongest predictors of fertility and account for about 10 percent and 7 percent of the total variance, respectively. Other factors which accounted for lesser fractions of variability are ideal number of children, rural versus urban residence, education, aspiration for daughters, exposure to mass media, and economic status. Most of the relationships appear to be stable over time; others, which are associated with modernization, appear to be changing. The thirteen variables combined can account for a maximum of 40 percent of the variance in fertility.

TL;DR: A survey on rats and rat-fleas was performed in costal area of Korea during 1972; Inchon, Kunsan, Yosu, Busan and other areas; the number of the caught rats and total number of collected fleas was 2,480.
Abstract: A survey on rats and rat-fleas was performed in costal area of Korea during 1972; Inchon, Kunsan, Yosu, Busan and other areas. The number of the caught rats was 1,448. Total number of collected fleas was 2,480. Geographical distribution were described. Flea index was in 1.71 total. Mothly flea indices were 0.35-0.84 in January to March, 2.13-2.59 in April to June, 0.58 in July and 1.82-4.91 in August to November. Mortality rate of X. cheopsis to various concentration of DDT in 1 hour exposure were 43.8 % in 4.0 %, 30.4 % in 1.0 %. In 24 hours exposure, the mortalities were 100 % in 4.0 %, 91.5 % in 2.0 %, 73.5 % in 1.0 % and 37.0 % in 0.5 % DDT.

TL;DR: It is considered cortisone has remarkable anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressive effects in mice infected with T.canis, but histopathological changes on the granuloma formation might be related closely with the duration of Toxocara infection, dosage, duration and timing of cortis one administration.
Abstract: The present study was carried out to examine the effect of "Cortisone" on the worm burden migrated in the organs, and granulomatous change in the liver of mice infected with Toxocara canis eggs. Daily does of 0.5 mg "Cortisone" was administrated subcutaneously to Toxocara-infected mice with different schedule. The results are summarized as follows: 1. More number of Toxocara larvae migrated into the muscle tissue, especially into the carcass through the wall of the large intestine and higher distribution rate and longer persistence of worms were also recognized in the carcass of the experimental group than in the control. 2. Cortisone administration resulted the inhibition of granuloma formation, as well as the resolution of granuloma in the liver. However, the discontinuation of the administration induced the reccurence of heavier grade of inflammation. In non-cortisone treated group (control), cellular infiltration appeared around the worms in the liver on the 10th day of the infection, and typical granulomatosis was followed on the 20th day. As in above results, it is considered cortisone has remarkable anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressive effects in mice infected with T.canis, but histopathological changes on the granuloma formation might be related closely with the duration of Toxocara infection, dosage, duration and timing of cortisone administration.

TL;DR: Fifty-eight strains of Aspergillus isolated from various grains were examined for the screening of aflatoxins by the method of the Thin-Layer Chromatography (TLC), using the aflatoxin producing strain of As pergillus flavus ATCC 15517 as a control.
