TL;DR: An effective analytical protocol using graphene-based SPE coupled with HPLC-MS/MS for determination of chloramphenicol in aquatic products has been developed and has been successfully applied to the analysis of CAP, indicating that graphene was a potential SPE sorbent for the enrichment of trace residues in food samples.
Abstract: An effective analytical protocol using graphene-based SPE coupled with HPLC-MS/MS for determination of chloramphenicol (CAP) in aquatic products has been developed. In the present work, graphene was evaluated as SPE sorbents for the analytes enrichment and clean up. The target analytes were quantified by a triple-quadrupole linear ion trap MS in multiple-reaction monitoring mode. In addition, the proposed method was validated according to Commission Decision 2002/657/EC. The calibration curve was linear over the range of 0.5-100 ng/mL. The mean values of RSD of intra- and interday ranging from 1.48 to 4.29% and from 3.25 to 7.42% were obtained, respectively. In the three fortified levels, the recoveries of CAP ranging from 92.3 to 103.4% with RSDs ≤ 5.58% were obtained. The proposed method has been successfully applied to the analysis of CAP in several aquatic product samples, indicating that graphene was a potential SPE sorbent for the enrichment of trace residues in food samples.

01 Jan 2015TL;DR: Recent progress on encapsulation of various bioactive compounds using these liposomes and the stability behavior of the liposome as they pass through the gastrointestinal tract is reviewed and discussed.
Abstract: Because of their unique structures and properties, liposomes have been widely studied and successfully used as drug delivery systems in pharmaceutical and cosmetic applications However, there have been limited developments in the application of liposomes in food and nutraceutical applications, due mainly to difficulties in finding safe, solvent-free, and low-cost ingredients, as well as low-cost production methods In recent years, several nutraceutical products (vitamins, enzymes, herbal extracts) have been formulated using liposome technology, with the aim of improving absorption of the bioactive compound However, the fate of these materials during digestion in the gastrointestinal tract is not fully understood This chapter provides a brief overview of the formation, structures, and properties of liposomes Recent progress on encapsulation of various bioactive compounds using these liposomes and the stability behavior of the liposomes as they pass through the gastrointestinal tract is reviewed and discussed

TL;DR: In this article, the decolorization behaviors of a model azo dye of methyl red in Na2SO4 and NaCl media by electro-Fenton process, in which FeSO4 was added into the solution, while H2O2 was efficiently generated on a graphite-polytetrafluoroethylene cathode.
Abstract: BACKGROUND: This study compared the decolorization behaviors of a model azo dye of methyl red in Na2SO4 and NaCl media by electro-Fenton process, in which FeSO4 was added into the solution, while H2O2 was efficiently generated on a graphite–polytetrafluoroethylene cathode. Parameters such as pH, cathodic potential, electrolyte concentration, and initial dye concentration as well as the treatment time were investigated to disclose different decolorization behaviour.
RESULTS: Decolorization in NaCl medium had an advantage over that in Na2SO4 medium not only in performance but also in its suitability for application, which seemed less sensitive to variations in parameters and thus broadened the optimal performance range. In NaCl medium, indirect oxidation by active chlorine contributed greatly to the decolorization, and the removal of methyl red obeyed pseudo-first-order kinetics.
CONCLUSION: Electro-Fenton oxidation in the present system in the presence of NaCl would is a promising procedure for azo dye waste-water treatment. Copyright © 2009 Society of Chemical Industry

TL;DR: The comprehensive crotonylation proteome analysis of papaya fruit indicated diverse functions for lysine croonylation in papaya, suggesting a potential conserved function for crotonyation in the regulation of amino acid metabolism.
Abstract: Lysine crotonylation of histone proteins is a recently-identified post-translational modification with multiple cellular functions. However, no information about lysine crotonylation of non-histone proteins in fruit cells is available. Using high-resolution LC-MS/MS coupled with highly sensitive immune-affinity antibody analysis, a global crotonylation proteome analysis of papaya fruit (Carica papaya L.) was performed. In total, 2,120 proteins with 5,995 lysine crotonylation sites were discovered, among which eight conserved motifs were identified. Bioinformatic analysis linked crotonylated proteins to multiple metabolic pathways, including biosynthesis of antibiotics, carbon metabolism, biosynthesis of amino acids, and glycolysis. particularly, 40 crotonylated enzymes involved in various pathways of amino acid metabolism were identified, suggesting a potential conserved function for crotonylation in the regulation of amino acid metabolism. Numerous crotonylation sites were identified in proteins involved in the hormone signaling and cell wall-related pathways. Our comprehensive crotonylation proteome indicated diverse functions for lysine crotonylation in papaya.
