TL;DR: In this article, different properties possible to obtain in photonic crystal fibers are reviewed and fabrication and modeling methods are also discussed, and different properties of photonic bandgap effect are discussed.
Abstract: Photonic crystal fibers are a new class of optical fibers. Their artificial crystal-like microstructure results in a number of unusual properties. They can guide light not only through a well-known total internal reflection mechanism but using also photonic bandgap effect. In this paper different properties possible to obtain in photonic crystal fibers are reviewed. Fabrication and modeling methods are also discussed.

TL;DR: In this paper, the electronic transport properties of a bilayer graphene contact with two monolayer nanoribbons were investigated by means of a tight-binding method and a continuum Dirac model.
Abstract: We investigate the electronic transport properties of a bilayer graphene ake contacted by two monolayer nanoribbons. This nite-size bilayer ake can be built by overlapping two semi-in nite ribbons. We study and analyze the electronic behavior of this structure by means of a tight-binding method and a continuum Dirac model. We have found that the conductance oscillates markedly between zero and the maximum value of the conductance, allowing for the design of electromechanical switches.

TL;DR: In this paper, the dispersion properties of dierent types of optical polymers are discussed on the base of measured refractive indices and the Cauchy-Schott approximation, and a number of dispersion curves are presented in the visible and near infrared spectral regions between 400 and 1060 nm.
Abstract: In this report dispersion properties of dierent types of optical polymers are discussed on the base of measured refractive indices and the Cauchy‐Schott approximation. A number of dispersion curves are presented in the visible and near infrared spectral regions between 400 and 1060 nm. A comparison with some optical glasses with similar refraction is performed. The nonlinear dependence of dn=d‚ of polymer materials and test glasses on the wavelength is calculated and analyzed. Normalized dispersion curves at 550 nm and 880 nm are presented to illustrate better the dispersion of the polymers in the considered spectral regions, separately. Abbe numbers are calculated to exhibit the mean and partial dispersion.

TL;DR: This work presents a scheme for direct and confidential communication between Alice and Bob, where there is no need for establishing a shared secret key first, and where the key used by Alice even will become known publicly.
Abstract: We present a scheme for direct and confidential communication between Alice and Bob, where there is no need for establishing a shared secret key first, and where the key used by Alice even will become known publicly. The communication is based on the exchange of single photons and each and every photon transmits one bit of Alice’s message without revealing any information to a potential eavesdropper.

TL;DR: In this article, a review is given of the differential operator technique in the Ising spin systems and theoretical frameworks of the various models are discussed on the basis of the ISing spin identities.
Abstract: A review is given of the differential operator technique in the Ising spin systems. The theoretical frameworks of the various models are discussed on the basis of the Ising spin identities. These can be applied to examine the magnetic properties in a variety of magnetic materials.
