TL;DR: In this paper, the authors investigated the factors affecting academic performance of graduate students of Islamia University of Bahawalpur Rahim Yar Khan Campus and found that age, age, father/guardian social economic status and daily study hours significantly contribute to the academic performance.
Abstract: The present research study was design to investigate the factors affecting academic performance of graduate students of Islamia University of Bahawalpur Rahim Yar Khan Campus. The variables under consideration were the academic performance (student’s grades/marks) as a dependent variable and the gender, age, faculty of study, schooling, father/guardian social economic status, and residential area, medium of schooling; tuition trend, daily study hours and accommodation trend were independent variables. The data were collected from 100 students through separate structured questionnaire from different departments of Islamia University of Bahawalpur, Rahim Yar Khan Campus using the simple random sampling technique. For analysis, linear regression model, correlation analysis, and descriptive analysis were used. The findings revealed that age, father/guardian social economic status and daily study hours significantly contribute the academic performance of graduate students. A linear model was also proposed that will be helpful to improve the academic performance of graduate students at University level.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors explain the holistic ideas of mixed method design focusing particularly on philosophical premises, generating research questions, data collection and analysis process, potential ethical issues, quality of inference and teaching mixed methodology.
Abstract: Educational fraternity is moving towards research based practices to improve educational standards. Many novice educational researchers are in dilemma to adopt research design in order to explore reality through their research endeavor because of a tag of war on ontological epistemological and axiological perspectives among qualitative and quantitative researchers. In this confounding situation, this article guides them to fuse both qualitative and quantitative stand points to explore reality from another perspective which is known as pragmatic paradigm. In this connection, this article aims at explaining the holistic ideas of mixed method design focusing particularly on philosophical premises, generating research questions, data collection and analysis process, potential ethical issues, quality of inference and teaching mixed methodology. This article highlights on the growing interest of educational researchers on sequential mixed method design in order to collect and analyze data for legitimize knowledge claim. This article is expected to be useful to novice researchers who are in quandary to adopt explanatory sequential mixed method as a research method and it also creates a roadmap in educational research indicating methodological possibilities for new knowledge claim.

TL;DR: In this paper, a 40-item survey measuring sources of mathematics self-efficacy was administered to 178 third-year engineering students and academic performance, which includes mathematics module grades and cumulative grade point average (GPA) scores, were collated.
Abstract: This study examined (a) the correlation of the four hypothesized sources of self-efficacy (mastery experience, vicarious experience, social persuasion, emotional arousal) with academic performance, and (b) the prediction of the main source of self-efficacy that affects academic performance. A 40-item survey measuring sources of mathematics self-efficacy was administered to 178 third-year engineering students. Academic performance, which includes mathematics module grades and cumulative grade point average (GPA) scores, were collated. The results of the present study showed that self-efficacy sources were correlated with mathematics achievement scores as well as cumulative GPA of electronics-related engineering diplomas. More importantly, mastery experience was found to be the main predictor for academic achievements of mathematics and related engineering modules. Finally, suggestions are offered to help curriculum developers in instructional design so as to improve students’ engineering academic performance.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors present a review of the available constructive literature about students' satisfaction with a sound theoretical and empirical background using data collected from refereed journals and conference papers, and constructively analyzed from different point of views to filter a sound background for future studies.
Abstract: Students’ satisfaction can be defined as a short-term attitude resulting from an evaluation of students’ educational experience, services and facilities Earlier it was measured by common satisfaction frameworks but later higher education specify satisfaction models were developed The objective of this review is to render all available constructive literature about students’ satisfaction with a sound theoretical and empirical background Data were collected from refereed journals and conference papers, and are constructively analyzed from different point of views to filter a sound background for future studies The first section of the paper discuss students’ satisfaction, satisfaction models and frameworks used by previous researchers around the world and second section explain the empirical findings of previous studies in real world context

TL;DR: In this article, a study was conducted to examine different factors influencing the academic performance of students in a tertiary institution in Singapore and the results showed that factors such as gender, age, nationality of student, co-curricular activities and an interest in pursuing higher degrees affected students' academic scores.
Abstract: This study was conducted to examine different factors influencing the academic performance of students in a tertiary institution in Singapore. The main method of data collection was a semi-structured questionnaire administered to 144 students. The specific objectives of the study were to determine if factors such as gender, age, nationality of student, part-time employment, extracurricular activities and interest in pursuing higher studies affected academic success. The study also examined the learning methods used by students and how these affected their academic scores. The students’ cumulative Grade Point Average (cGPA) was used as a measure of academic performance. The data were analyzed quantitatively and the results showed that factors such as gender, nationality of student, co-curricular activities and an interest in pursuing higher degrees affected students’ academic scores. The use of past year examination papers as a learning method improved students’ academic scores compared to other methods.
