TL;DR: In this article, a classification of discrete integrable systems on quad-graphs is given, and the notion of integrability laid in the basis of the classification is the three-dimensional consistency.
Abstract: A classification of discrete integrable systems on quad-graphs, i.e. on surface cell decompositions with quadrilateral faces, is given. The notion of integrability laid in the basis of the classification is the three-dimensional consistency. This property yields, among other features, the existence of the discrete zero curvature with a spectral parameter. For all integrable systems of the obtained exhaustive list, the so called three-leg forms are found. This establishes Lagrangian and symplectic structures for these systems, and the connection to discrete systems of the Toda type on arbitrary graphs. Generalizations of these ideas to the three-dimensional integrable systems and to the quantum context are also discussed.

TL;DR: In this article, a class of lump solutions, generated from quadratic functions, to nonlinear partial differential equations are analyzed. But the basis of success is the Hirota bilinear formulation and the primary object is the class of positive multivariate quadral functions.
Abstract: Lump solutions are analytical rational function solutions localized in all directions in space. We analyze a class of lump solutions, generated from quadratic functions, to nonlinear partial differential equations. The basis of success is the Hirota bilinear formulation and the primary object is the class of positive multivariate quadratic functions. A complete determination of quadratic functions positive in space and time is given, and positive quadratic functions are characterized as sums of squares of linear functions. Necessary and sufficient conditions for positive quadratic functions to solve Hirota bilinear equations are presented, and such polynomial solutions yield lump solutions to nonlinear partial differential equations under the dependent variable transformations u=2(ln f)_x and u=2(ln f)_{xx}, where x is one spatial variable. Applications are made for a few generalized KP and BKP equations.

TL;DR: In this article, a multiple exp-function method to exact multiple wave solutions of nonlinear partial differential equations is proposed, which is oriented towards ease of use and capability of computer algebra systems.
Abstract: A multiple exp-function method to exact multiple wave solutions of nonlinear partial differential equations is proposed. The method is oriented towards ease of use and capability of computer algebra systems, and provides a direct and systematical solution procedure which generalizes Hirota's perturbation scheme. With help of Maple, an application of the approach to the $3+1$ dimensional potential-Yu-Toda-Sasa-Fukuyama equation yields exact explicit 1-wave and 2-wave and 3-wave solutions, which include 1-soliton, 2-soliton and 3-soliton type solutions. Two cases with specific values of the involved parameters are plotted for each of 2-wave and 3-wave solutions.

TL;DR: In this paper, a new integrable partial differential equation found by Vladimir Novikov admits peaked soliton (peakon) solutions, but it has nonlinear terms that are cubic, rather than quadratic.
Abstract: We present a new integrable partial differential equation found by Vladimir Novikov. Like the Camassa-Holm and Degasperis-Procesi equations, this new equation admits peaked soliton (peakon) solutions, but it has nonlinear terms that are cubic, rather than quadratic. We give a matrix Lax pair for V. Novikov's equation, and show how it is related by a reciprocal transformation to a negative flow in the Sawada-Kotera hierarchy. Infinitely many conserved quantities are found, as well as a bi-Hamiltonian structure. The latter is used to obtain the Hamiltonian form of the finite-dimensional system for the interaction of $N$ peakons, and the two-body dynamics (N=2) is explicitly integrated. Finally, all of this is compared with some analogous results for another cubic peakon equation derived by Zhijun Qiao.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors derived general high-order rogue waves in the nonlinear Schroedinger equation by bilinear method and showed that these general rogue waves can exhibit other solution dynamics such as arrays of fundamental rogue waves arising at different times and spatial positions.
Abstract: General high-order rogue waves in the nonlinear Schroedinger equation are derived by the bilinear method. These rogue waves are given in terms of determinants whose matrix elements have simple algebraic expressions. It is shown that the general N-th order rogue waves contain N-1 free irreducible complex parameters. In addition, the specific rogue waves obtained by Akhmediev et al. (Phys. Rev. E 80, 026601 (2009)) correspond to special choices of these free parameters, and they have the highest peak amplitudes among all rogue waves of the same order. If other values of these free parameters are taken, however, these general rogue waves can exhibit other solution dynamics such as arrays of fundamental rogue waves arising at different times and spatial positions and forming interesting patterns.
