TL;DR: Active Brownian particles, also referred to as microswimmers and nanoswimmers, are biological or manmade microscopic and nanoscopic particles that can self-propel as mentioned in this paper.
Abstract: Active Brownian particles, also referred to as microswimmers and nanoswimmers, are biological or manmade microscopic and nanoscopic particles that can self-propel. Because of their activity, their behavior can only be explained and understood within the framework of nonequilibrium physics. In the biological realm, many cells perform active Brownian motion, for example, when moving away from toxins or towards nutrients. Inspired by these motile microorganisms, researchers have been developing artificial active particles that feature similar swimming behaviors based on different mechanisms; these manmade micro- and nanomachines hold a great potential as autonomous agents for healthcare, sustainability, and security applications. With a focus on the basic physical features of the interactions of active Brownian particles with a crowded and complex environment, this comprehensive review will put the reader at the very forefront of the field of active Brownian motion, providing a guided tour through its basic principles, the development of artificial self-propelling micro- and nanoparticles, and their application to the study of nonequilibrium phenomena, as well as the open challenges that the field is currently facing.

TL;DR: In this paper, a hole mobility for the organic conductor pentacene of 35 cm2/Vs at room temperature increasing to 58 cm2 /Vs at 225k was obtained.
Abstract: We have obtained a hole mobility for the organic conductor pentacene of 35 cm2/Vs at room temperature increasing to 58 cm2/Vs at 225K. These high mobilities result from a purification process in which 6,13-pentacenequinone was removed by vacuum sublimation. The number of traps is reduced by two orders of magnitude compared with conventional methods. The temperature depandence of the mobility is consistent with the band model for electronic transport.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present a method of calculating the electric charge density of glass and silica surfaces in contact with aqueous electrolytes for two cases of practical relevance that are not amenable to standard techniques: surfaces of low specific area at low ionic strength and surfaces interacting strongly with another anionic surface.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors introduce a comprehensive scheme to quantify both viscous and elastic rheological nonlinearities simultaneously, using an imposed large amplitude oscillatory shear (LAOS) strain.
Abstract: We introduce a comprehensive scheme to physically quantify both viscous and elastic rheological nonlinearities simultaneously, using an imposed large amplitude oscillatory shear (LAOS) strain. The new framework naturally lends a physical interpretation to commonly reported Fourier coefficients of the nonlinear stress response. Additionally, we address the ambiguities inherent in the standard definitions of viscoelastic moduli when extended into the nonlinear regime, and define new measures which reveal behavior that is obscured by conventional techniques.

TL;DR: A review of recent experimental, numerical and theoretical investigations on the subject can be found in this article, where the authors present a complex behavior at a liquid/solid interface involving an interplay of many physico-chemical parameters, including wetting, shear rate, pressure, surface charge, surface roughness, impurities and dissolved gas.
Abstract: The no-slip boundary condition at a solid-liquid interface is at the center of our understanding of fluid mechanics. However, this condition is an assumption that cannot be derived from first principles and could, in theory, be violated. In this chapter, we present a review of recent experimental, numerical and theoretical investigations on the subject. The physical picture that emerges is that of a complex behavior at a liquid/solid interface, involving an interplay of many physico-chemical parameters, including wetting, shear rate, pressure, surface charge, surface roughness, impurities and dissolved gas.
