Chronic progressive radiation myelopathy

Abstract: Radiation dose absorbed by spinal tissue in 4 cases of chronic progressive myelopathy was analysed so that the criteria could be established for choosing cases in which myelopathy was to be presumed. Nevertheless, neither regressive nor vascular lesion was found in 10 autopsies fitting the criteria. The fact was explained by individual variability or other unknown factors.

Encranius with multiple rudimentary fetus in fetu in a premature boy

Abstract: A premature stillborn boy with clinical diagnosis of hydrocephaly, produced shapeless material from his head during the delivery. The material reminding of teratoma in histology consisted of 21 minute rudimentary fetuses. Most of them had but lower extremities differentiated, some of them had amnion. Finding represents a fetal inclusion--encranius--with multiple intracranial "fetus in fetu."

Intravascular sclerosing bronchioloalveolar tumor

Abstract: A case of ISBAT in a 42 year old woman was described. Tumour consisted of two foci in the right lung found incidentally during x-ray examination. Discussion introduced modern views on its denotation and pathogenesis resulting from the latest electron microscopical and immunological studies.

Fenestration of the pulmonary septa as a sign of early destruction in emphysema

Abstract: Fenestrations of alveolar septa were found in 8 patients from a group of 9 in samples of macroscopically normal tissue from resected lobes or the whole lungs. Number and diameter of fenestrations related to the length of septa were in correlation with the severity of obstruction examined before operation. Most fenestrations were empty, less often were filled by pneumocytes 2, once by pneumocyte 1. Small fenestrations occurred in intercapillary parts of septa. Junctional complexes between pneumocyte 1 processes were found in margins of fenestrae. When destruction exceeded intercapillary parts of septa capillary circulation was damaged.

Murder of children

Abstract: The author analyzed from the forensic aspect 72 murders and attempted murders of children by their own mothers. In 34 instances neonates were involved and in 38 cases older children. The author investigated the time and site of the murder, the way it was performed and the causes of death. More detailed attention was also paid to the persons committing the crime, to motives which made them commit the crime and the subsequent fate of the children.
