Abstract: The studies and applications of performance assessment become more and more popular recent years. It reflects an exploration of people to the alternative ways in assessment besides the traditional measurement approach,in particularly the multiple choices tests.The paper,an instructional module produced by National Council of Measurement in Education(NCME),introduces specifically the design and development process of performance assessment.Even though published in English twenty years ago,it is still a classic work on the topic.

Abstract: Chinese characters are the carrier of Chinese language and culture and the written communicative tool.The assessment of Chinese characters,as the important means to know progress of Chinese learners and improve the teaching and learning Chinese characters,has been attached great importance.Supported by the digital technology,Chinese Characters assessment faces with the new opportunities and the development and Computer assisted assessment has become the effective way to improve the efficiency and quality of the Chinese characters assessment.This article analyzes present situation and the shortage of Computer assisted Chinese characters assessment from the aspects of technology,standard and applications.In order to meet the personalized needs of the Chinese learners,utilize efficiently the mass digital resources of Chinese characters,and adapt to the development of new technology,this paper puts forward that Computer assisted Chinese characters assessment should improve feedback quality,realize the personalized recommendation of resources,and develop the multi-terminal Computer assisted Chinese characters assessment platform.
