TL;DR: It was revealed that the proportions of developing clinical pharmaceutical services including prescription evaluation,ADR monitoring, drug information consultation in hospitals at different level were high, but the proportion of developing such pharmaceutical services as medication orders' writing and drug-food interaction monitoring were low.
Abstract: OBJECTIVE: To probe into the status quo of the practice of clinical pharmacy in hospitals of China.METHODS: A mailed questionnaire survey was conducted among 600 sample hospitals and 42 clinical pharmacist work system pilot hospitals based on stratified sampling regarding the status quo of the clinical pharmacy practice in China. And the results were subjected to statistical analysis.RESULTS CONCLUSIONS: A total of 310 questionnaires were sent back, which revealed that the proportions of developing clinical pharmaceutical services including prescription evaluation,ADR monitoring, drug information consultation in hospitals at different level were high, but the proportions of developing such pharmaceutical services as medication orders' writing and drug-food interaction monitoring were low.The pilot hospitals had better clinical pharmacy services as compared with common hospitals, much as in drug therapy monitoring and individualized medication therapy. The clinical pharmacists were characterized by low quality and scanty numbers. The financial support to clinical pharmacy and the role of the clinical pharmacists remain to be intensified.

TL;DR: Berberine-loaded chitosan nanoparticles can be prepared by using ionic gelation method, and the release in vitro of berberine from the nanoparticles is effected by release medium and is pH dependent.
Abstract: OBJECTIVE:To prepare chitosan nanoparticles loading berberine and to investigate the characteristics of in-vitro release of the prepared nanoparticles.METHODS:Berberine-loaded chitosan nanoparticles were prepared using ionic gelation method and the content of Berberine was determines by UV.RESULTS:The results showed that the nanoparticles were spherical or para-spherical with a mean particle size of 267.9nm and a polydispersion coefficient of 0.264.The encapsulation ratio of berberine chitosan nanoparticles was(65.4±0.7)%.The total drug release degree was(56.8±1.7)% in 0.9%NaCl in 6 hours,and(65.6%±1.1)% in 24 hours, and it was(75.3±1.3)%,(55.7±0.9)%,(45.8±1.6)% by turns in artificial gastric juice, artificial intestinal juice and pH7.4 buffer phosphate.CONCLUSION:Berberine-loaded chitosan nanoparticles can be prepared by using ionic gelation method, and the release in vitro of berberine from the nanoparticles is effected by release medium and is pH dependent.

TL;DR: After CG treatment, the symptoms of dry cough, chest distress and dyspnea improved quickly and the elevated serum level of aminotransferase decreased and CG may be a promising drug against SARS with less side effect.
Abstract: OBJECTIVE:To summarize the clinical effect of compound glycyrrhizin(CG)on SARS.METHODS:The clinˉical data of73patients with clinically diagnosed SARS(37cases were treated by CG)were prospectively analysed.RESULTS:After CG treatment, the symptoms of dry cough, chest distress and dyspnea improved quickly and the elevated serum level of aminotransferase decreased. The maximal dosages of corticosteroids used in CG group and control group were(354.3±219.8)mg/d and(430±262.6)mg/d,respectively.The average time to occurrence of antibody, duration for reduction of corticosteroid dosage and duration of hospital stay were shorter in CG group than those in control group. There was no significant difference in titer value of antibody between two groups.CG had little effects on WBC,blood sugar and electrolytes.CONCLUSION:CG may be a promising drug against SARS with less side effect.

TL;DR: Allopurinol is a safe and effective therapy for the protection of renal function in patients with chronic kidney disease complicating hyperuricacidemia.
Abstract: OBJECTIVE:To discuss the use of allopurinol for the reduction of serum uric acid level in patients with chronic kidney disease complicating hyperuricacidemia so as to delay the progression of chronic renal disease.METHODS:A total of 47 patients with chronic kidney disease complicating hyperuricacidemia were randomly divided into treatment group and control group:the treatment group was given allopurinol 100~200mg·d-1 in addition to the antihypertensive therapy as adopted in the control group or the common therapy for 12 months.RESULTS:As compared with the control group, serum creatinine level was lower and the rate of renal function deterioration was significantly decreased in the treatment group(P0.05). CONCLUSION:Allopurinol is a safe and effective therapy for the protection of renal function.

TL;DR: In this article, the chemical constituents of Ligustrum lucidum were identified by ESI-MS and NMR using column chromatography over silica gel,RP-ODS,Sephadex LH-20 and RP-HPLC.
Abstract: OBJECTIVE:To study the chemical constituents of Ligustrum lucidum.METHODS:Isolation and purification were carried out by column chromatography over silica gel,RP-ODS,Sephadex LH-20 and RP-HPLC.The chemical constituents were identified by ESI-MS and NMR.RESULTS:Eight compounds were identified as oleanolic acid(1),2α-hydroxy-oleanolic acid(2),19α-hydroxy ursolic acid(3),tormentic acid(4),3β-O-(cis-p-Coumaroyl)-2α-hydroxy oleanolic acid(5),3β-O-(trans-p-Coumaroyl)-2α-hydroxy oleanolic acid(6),3-O-cis-p-Coumaroyl tormentic acid(7),3-O-trans-p-Coumaroyl tormentic acid(8).CONCLUSION:Compounds 3,5,7,8 are isolated from this genus for the first time.
