TL;DR: Delta-opioid receptor agonist DADLE can obviously prolong the survival time and decline the mortality in septic rats.
Abstract: Objective To investigate the effects of delta-opioid receptor agonist [D-Ala2,D-Leu5] enkephalin (DADLE) injection on the survival time and mortality in rats with sepsis Methods Sepsis model of rats was replicated by cecal ligation and puncture (CLP) 120 SD rats were randomly divided into 6 groups (20 in each):sham operation group,CLP model group, and 4 DADLE treatment groups, including DADLE1 group (treated before CLP,3 mg/ kg),DADLE2 group (treated before CLP,5 mg/kg),DADLE3 group (treated after CLP,3 mg/kg) and DADLE4 group (treated after CLP,5 mg/kg) The survival time after CLP and the 7 d cumulative mortality were recorded Results The 7 d cumulative mortality of each DADLE group was 85%,60%,70% and 75%,respectively Compared with the CLP model group, treatment with DADLE could significantly prolong the survival time (P005) and decline the mortality However, there were no statistical differences among the four DADLE groups (P005) Conclusion Delta-opioid receptor agonist DADLE can obviously prolong the survival time and decline the mortality in septic rats
