Journal ArticleDOI
TL;DR: In this article, the authors studied the transition between structural modifications of isotactic polypropylene, characterized by increasing degrees of order in respect to the up and down positioning of the chains, for samples having different previous thermomechanical histories or containing small amounts of ethylenic units.

57 citations

Journal ArticleDOI
TL;DR: In this article, simultaneous thermal analysis (STA) and flammability measurements of polypropylene were used to investigate the role of an additive on oxygen uptake and char formation.

57 citations

Journal ArticleDOI
TL;DR: In this article, the mechanisms of thermal and photo-oxidative degradation of unstabilized samples of ABS have been discussed in terms of the known chemistry of the unsaturated isomeric units of PB and the chemical species identified by either i.r. spectroscopy or chemical studies.

46 citations

Journal ArticleDOI
TL;DR: In this paper, structural properties of LDPE samples were investigated for various periods both in the absence and the presence of a light stabilizer system, taking into account previous structural results for the same samples.

40 citations

Journal ArticleDOI
TL;DR: In this article, the authors investigated the photo-stability of ABS and concluded that the degradation characteristics of ABS are essentially those of the polybutadiene component, and that the insolubility of degraded samples of ABS is associated with the formation of cross-linked structures and occurs mainly in the PB segment.

Journal ArticleDOI
TL;DR: In this paper, the dynamic structure of micelles formed by a polystyrene-b-poly(ethylene/propylene) block copolymer in paraffinic solvents has been studied by electron microscopy, photon correlation spectroscopy and 1H and 13C-nuclear magnetic resonance.

Journal ArticleDOI
W. R. Krigbaum1, Richard Kotek1, T. Ishikawa1, H. Hakemi1, Jack Preston2
TL;DR: In this paper, van Luyen and Strzelecki described the transesterification procedure of 4′-acetoxyphenyl-4-acetoxybenzoate and dibasic acids having 6-12 methylene units.

Journal ArticleDOI
TL;DR: The mechanism of light-induced degradation of solid polyvinyl chloride (PVC) has been investigated, and an overall reaction scheme has been developed, based on values of the quantum yields for the primary photoproducts as discussed by the authors.

Journal ArticleDOI
TL;DR: In this article, the authors investigated the structure of copolyesteramides formed by anionic ring-opening copolymerisation of e-caprolactam with e-Caprolactone and proposed a mechanism to explain the formation of the multiblock structures.

Journal ArticleDOI
TL;DR: The crystalline character of anionic copolymers of e-caprolactam with e-Caprolactone and of some alternatingly-sequenced analogues has been studied and investigations made of the mechanical and dynamic mechanical properties of the anioniccopolymers.

Journal ArticleDOI
TL;DR: In this article, the reaction of monofunctional oligoisobutylene with maleic anhydride is described, and the double bond of the resulting olefin can be endo or exo.

Journal ArticleDOI
TL;DR: In this paper, copolymers have been synthesised by processing polyethylene/polystyrene (PE/PS) and polyethylenes/poly(vinylchloride)(PE/PVC) blends in an internal mixer in the presence of radical generators.

Journal ArticleDOI
TL;DR: In this article, the structure of the bisphenolic components on the breadth of the mesomorphic interval has been indicated, characterized by the presence along the polymer chain of azomethine groups between aromatic rings and linear flexible spacers based on sebacic acid.

Journal ArticleDOI
TL;DR: In this article, the authors showed that polyester micro-single crystals, grown from nitrobenzene-hexane or nitrogen-decane solutions, exist in three crystal structures.

Journal ArticleDOI
TL;DR: Anionic copolymerisation of ω-laurolactam with e-caprolactone yields copolyesteramides with NH(CH 2 ) 11 CO and O( CH 2 ) 5 CO unit contents similar to those in the feeds as mentioned in this paper.

Journal ArticleDOI
TL;DR: In this article, the authors propose a variation lineaire de R p avec l'intensite lumineuse implique l'intervention d'un mecanisme de polymerisation base sur des reactions de terminaison monomoleculaires.

It is observed that viscosity of the polymer solution increases with increasing concentration and molecular weight; the rate of increase is greater at higher values of the two parameters.
