Abstract: The need for collaboration and use ofteam approaches in primary and tertiarycare settings has been the Zeitgeist of health-care in recent years. Fueled by the managedcare crisis, increasing efforts have beenmade to implement team models of care asinnovative cost- and time-effectivemodalities of treatment. In the context ofrehabilitation, integrated team approacheshave been considered the standard form oftreatment for over five decades. Ostensibly,team approaches are the optimal method ofhealthcare delivery, yet little attention hasbeen paid to how these team concepts canbe more efficiently translated into primaryand tertiary care environments.
