TL;DR: The ginkgo biloba of Panxian County is well known in Guizhou and its neighboring areas, not only for its economic value, but also for its academic significance as mentioned in this paper.
Abstract: The ginkgo biloba of Panxian County is well known in Guizhou and its neighboring areas, not only for its economic value, but the academic significance. Phytogeographically, it still maintains a dense and integrated population, which either concentrates numerous trees forming a special "ginkgo forest-human community" in some places, or scatters in the from of woodlots, graves, and singles in other places. The population structure is like a "standing rhomb", i.e. the adult trees are far more than the seedlings, young plants, and dying ones. The ratio of female to male plants is 100∶2. The nature individuals account for 87% of the total, and the gardening from individuals, only 13%. The diversity of the germplasm resources there appears much abundant. It is precious that from ancient time till now, kinds of information, such as the growth and development of ginkgo biloba individuals, and the regeneration and succession of the community, are being enshrined there.Respective investigations in the county show there is a distribution center of the geographic ginkgo population. It is located at five small towns in the middle area of the county. The basic structure of the population is like a string of bead. Several strings of beads spread along the foot and middle part of the mountain range, the entarge to form a network in the whole county. In each "bead" of a "string", the trees distribute radiantly towards all round to a certain extent, and the more the increase of the distance to the bead core, the less the numbers of the ginkgo individuals, and even disappear. That means in the core is the community, then the woodlots, and the graves to single plant. Furthermore, the highest yield of ginkgo seed is up to 75 tons a year in the county. The locl residents have a longterm ginkgo use tradition. So it is reasonable to deduce that the ginkgo geographical population of the county is the nature one by origin, but influenced for a rather long period of primitive agricultural and economic action by local people. The growth, development and even the community regeneration of the species are still dominated by the nature. The ginkgo individuals with strong wild characteristics are so far the main body in the population.

TL;DR: The results showed that the distribution of bud amount was changed with branch grades, and the bud amount and live buds amount on new shoots were the highest, but density of bud weight of leader_bud and side-bud were the lowest.
Abstract: Considering the bud of Platycarya longipesas basic unit of modular population, the bud population structure of sample trees, which were 8-12 years old and located at different places on slope in karst area in the middle of Guizhou province, was studied. The results showed that the distribution of bud amount was changed with branch grades. The bud amount on the second and the third branch grade located in the middle of canopy, was the maximum, others were lesser in innermost and outermost of canopy. The bud amount on new shoots was more than that on old branch. The bud density and density of bud weight of leader_bud on new shoots of the terminal branch grade were the highest. With the change of environment, the bud population on sample trees was changed. On the middle of slope, the bud amount on sample trees and on new shoots were reduced from top to underside on slope. The bud amount and live buds amount on new shoots were the highest, but density of bud weight of leader_bud and side_bud were the lowest. On top of slope, the bud amount and live bud amount on new shoots were the highest, but density of bud weight of leader_bud and side_bud were the highest.
