TL;DR: In this paper, the effectiveness of membrane bioreactor technology as a modern tool to minimize the water pollution level caused by noodle, curd, and infant food plants was analyzed on the monthly basis.
Abstract: Food industry requires a large quantity of water for various processes. Compared to other industrial sectors, food industry requires more water, used in throughout most of the plant operations, such as production, cleaning, sanitizing, cooling and materials transport, among others. The treatment mechanisms of contaminants in wastewater are highly dependent on the design and operational characteristics of the wastewater treatment plants (WWTPS). The membrane biological reactors (MBR) have proven to be efficient for the treatment of industrial wastewaters over conventional wastewater treatment plants when treatment efficiency is an important consideration. The present study aims to analyze effectiveness of membrane bioreactor technology as a modern tool to minimize the water pollution level caused by noodle, curd, and infant food plants. The analysis of pollutants in influent and effluent from food industry was done on the monthly basis. The pollution indicators (BOD, COD, total suspensions, temperature, appearance, and pH) of wastewater of food industry had high values but they remained within the range after treatment in the MBR. When analyzed at monthly intervals, 98% BOD5 and above 99%, COD removals were achieved. Overall efficiency of removed pollutants as COD, BOD and TSS from the wastewater was more than 90%. MBR technology is thus a better and advanced method to treat wastewater of food industries.

TL;DR: In this paper, a step-stone approach was taken to assess Soybean oil base as oil base mud in order to conclude whether it is viable to be used as an OBM.
Abstract: Today, the use of diesel in oil base mud is either prohibited or severely condemned due to its environmental impact. It also faces the obstacle of high disposal costs enforced by regulations set to lessen the environmental damage caused. This is forcing the industry to shift away from its use as it is becoming less feasible to operate with. A substitute base mud should be formulated in order to decrease the environmental impact, simultaneously abiding by regulations and in turn lower the overall costs. The focus on formulating a substitute-based mud using vegetable oils rather than diesel oil is gaining strong ground in the oil industry. Of these vegetable oils, Soybean oil shows great potential in both its characteristics and formulation cost. This paper is a stepping-stone into researching the feasibility of this oil. It discusses the approach that will be taken to assess Soybean oil base as oil base mud in order to conclude whether it is viable to be used as an OBM. The experimental work carried out showed high potential of Soybean base mud in comparison to oil base in both physiochemical and rheological properties as an oil and drilling fluid, better thermal stability in HPHT wells, safe due to its fire capacity resistance. The prepared Soybean base mud will perform the same function as diesel base mud, but more efficiently with less frictional pressure losses. Finally Soybean oil base mud is less expensive than oil base mud with less environmental impact and can be applied in the industry.

Abstract: With mobile learning (m-learning), the learner only needs to have a smartphone and access to the internet; with that, they can access all the resources they need to study without having to carry books around with them. Some of the advantages of m-learning include areduction in cost, elasticity, flexibility and collaborative learning. On the flipside, this method of learning has its drawbacks that include screen size and the battery life of the smart phone, distractions during the learning process, and internet charges. Since the advantages are on the higher side, it is important that the mobile learning be adopted by educational instotuties and training centres to enhance the quality and accessibility of learning. The introduction of new technology in m-learning such as ambient intelligence, location-based learning, and learning implants implies that mobile learning has a bright future. This paper provides an overview of mlearning via the cloud computing technology and introduces a mobile application that teaches programming to young children as an example of this type of learning.

TL;DR: In this article, a runoff model has been developed on the basis of SCS-CN method in the present study for predicting runoff, where the input parameters which influence runoff component vary spatially at micro levels.
Abstract: Rainfall, runoffs are the most important hydrological variables used in the most of the water resources applications. The information pertaining to occurrence of runoff further helps in water management practices. Runoff is normally generated on limited areas i.e. impervious or less impervious areas, saturated areas etc. Whereas neighboring vegetated areas do not generate any direct runoff. This needs to be taken into account of rainfall-runoff modeling and thus in the delineation of the areas. The input parameters which influence runoff component vary spatially at micro levels. A runoff model has been developed on the basis of SCS-CN method in the present study for predicting runoff.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors evaluate the trace metals accumulation by different parts (Foliage like part, Stem like part and reproductive part) of two species of Turbinaria such as T. ornata collected from Olaikuda, southeast coast of India to find the specific area which is mainly responsible for accumulation of high amount of heavy metals.
Abstract: Heavy metals pollution is a leading problem in aquatic environment. Many expensive techniques have been applied to treat seawater for removal of heavy metals. Heavy metals remediation by seaweeds is less cost-effective and eco-friendly method. The main aim of the present study is to evaluate the trace metals accumulation by different parts (Foliage like part, Stem like part and reproductive part) of two species of Turbinaria such as Turbinaria decurrens and Turbinaria ornata collected from Olaikuda, southeast coast of India. This is the first time study to estimate of heavy metals content of different parts Turbinaria decurrens and Turbinaria ornata to find the specific area which is mainly responsible for accumulation of high amount of heavy metals. ICP-MS (Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry) was used to estimate the trace metals content .This work reveals that the foliage part (leave like structure) and reproductive part of both species are accumulating highest amount of Pb, Cd, As, Fe and Cr. Turbinaria spp. are not edible for its quite hard and thorny morphological structure, but as they are accumulating heavy metals in high amount expectedly, both species will be utilized for removal of heavy metals from polluted area as bioremediator. From this study, it is concluded that both of the Turbinaria sp. will be used as bio-indicator of heavy metals pollution in the marine environment.
