TL;DR: A new method to deal with forecasting problems based on fuzzy time series and genetic algorithms is presented and adjusts the length of each interval in the universe of discourse for forecasting the enrollments of the University of Alabama.
Abstract: The definition of fuzzy time series was proposed by Song and Chissom. They presented the time-invariant model and the time-variant model for dealing with forecasting problems. In recent years, many methods have been proposed to deal with forecasting problems using fuzzy time series. In this paper, we present a new method to deal with forecasting problems based on fuzzy time series and genetic algorithms. The proposed method adjusts the length of each interval in the universe of discourse for forecasting the enrollments of the University of Alabama. The experimental results show that the proposed method gets good forecasting results.

TL;DR: In this article, an M/M/1 queue with single working vacation was studied and the distributions for the number of customers and the virtual time in the system in steady state were derived.
Abstract: In this paper, we study an M/M/1 queue with single working vacation. Using quasi birth and death process and matrix-geometric solution method, we give the distributions for the number of customers and the virtual time in the system in steady state. Furthermore, we obtain expected busy period and expected busy cycle. Finally, we get the stochastic decomposition structures of stationary indices.

TL;DR: This paper provides a broad review of recent developments within the field of artificial intelligence and its applications and reminds the experienced researchers about some of the issue they have known.
Abstract: Research on artificial intelligence in the last two decades has greatly improved performance of both manufacturing and service systems. Currently, there is a dire need for an article that presents a holistic literature survey of worldwide, theoretical frameworks and practical experiences in the field of artificial intelligence. This paper reports the state-of-the-art on artificial intelligence in an integrated, concise, and elegantly distilled manner to show the experiences in the field. In particular, this paper provides a broad review of recent developments within the field of artificial intelligence (AI) and its applications. The work is targeted at new entrants to the artificial intelligence field. It also reminds the experienced researchers about some of the issue they have known.

TL;DR: This research proposes an evaluation model using fuzzy analytic network process (FANP) that can provide Taiwan's hospital accreditation policy a reference material, making it highly applicable for academic and government purposes.
Abstract: The conventional accreditation policy of Taiwanese hospitals involves helping promote and executing national healthcare quality policies, certifying healthcare quality, supervising the management of health care organizations, pursuing a harmonious relationship between care providers and patients, and enhancing national healthcare quality However, the quality indicators in use by Department of Health, Executive Yuan, Taiwan (DOH) cannot indicate overall organization performance of each hospital and assess hospital operating crisis Therefore, this research proposes an evaluation model using fuzzy analytic network process (FANP) The analytic hierarchy process (AHP) and analytic network process (ANP) cannot adequately resolve the inherent uncertainty and imprecision associated with the mapping of a decision maker's perception to exact numbers In many cases the preference model of the human decision maker is uncertain, and it is relatively difficult for the decision maker to provide exact numerical values for the comparison ratios Importantly, the proposed model can provide Taiwan's hospital accreditation policy a reference material, making it highly applicable for academic and government purposes

TL;DR: In this article, an EOQ model in which inventory is depleted not only by demand, but also by deterioration at a Weibull distributed rate, assuming the demand rate with a ramp type function of time is considered.
Abstract: We consider here an EOQ model in which inventory is depleted not only by demand, but also by deterioration at a Weibull distributed rate, assuming the demand rate with a ramp type function of time. The proposed model cannot be solved directly in a closed form, thus the computer software IMSL MATH/LIBRARY [13] has been used to find the optimal reorder time. Finally, three numerical examples and sensitivity analyses are provided to assess the solution procedure.
