TL;DR: The FLOSSmole project as discussed by the authors is a collaborative project that collects, shares, and stores comparable data and analyses of free, libre, and open source software development for academic research.
Abstract: This article introduces and expands on previous work on a collaborative project, called FLOSSmole (formerly OSSmole), designed to gather, share, and store comparable data and analyses of free, libre, and open source software (FLOSS) development for academic research. The project draws on the ongoing collection and analysis efforts of many research groups, reducing duplication, and promoting compatibility both across sources of FLOSS data and across research groups and analyses. The article outlines current difficulties with the current typical quantitative FLOSS research process and uses these to develop requirements and presents the design of the system.

TL;DR: The discussions in this paper take the reader through the detailed steps of building the main two components of the lexicon-based SA approach: the Lexicon and the SA tool.
Abstract: The emergence of the Web 2.0 technology generated a massive amount of raw data by enabling Internet users to post their opinions on the web. Processing this raw data to extract useful information can be a very challenging task. An example of important information that can be automatically extracted from the users' posts is their opinions on different issues. This problem of Sentiment Analysis SA has been studied well on the English language and two main approaches have been devised: corpus-based and lexicon-based. This work focuses on the later approach due to its various challenges and high potential. The discussions in this paper take the reader through the detailed steps of building the main two components of the lexicon-based SA approach: the lexicon and the SA tool. The experiments show that significant efforts are still needed to reach a satisfactory level of accuracy for the lexicon-based Arabic SA. Nonetheless, they do provide an interesting guide for the researchers in their on-going efforts to improve lexicon-based SA.

TL;DR: Methodology is proposed, based on well known concepts from the social networks analysis field, which can be used to study the relationships among developers and how they collaborate in different parts of a project.
Abstract: Source code management repositories of large, long-lived libre (free, open source) software projects can be a source of valuable data about the organizational structure, evolution, and knowledge exchange in the corresponding development communities. Unfortunately, the sheer volume of the available information renders it almost unusable without applying methodologies which highlight the relevant information for a given aspect of the project. Such methodology is proposed in this article, based on well known concepts from the social networks analysis field, which can be used to study the relationships among developers and how they collaborate in different parts of a project. It is also applied to data mined from some well known projects (Apache, GNOME, and KDE), focusing on the characterization of their collaboration network architecture. These cases help to understand the potentials of the methodology and how it is applied, but also shows some relevant results which open new paths in the understanding of the informal organization of libre software development communities.

TL;DR: An approach for vehicular ad-hoc networks (VANETs) that recommends gas stations based on driver preferences, ratings of other users and context information such as the current location and fuel level of a car is presented.
Abstract: In this article, we give an overview of ideas for integrating context in recommender systems in general and specifically in various mobile application domains. Our main case study is an approach for vehicular ad-hoc networks (VANETs). The system recommends gas stations based on driver preferences, ratings of other users and context information such as the current location and fuel level of a car. We explain the main design issues behind our recommender. Our approach first filters items based on preferences and context, and then takes ratings of other users and additional information into account, which can be relayed from car to car in a VANET. We also outline other mobile scenarios for contextualized recommender systems: a system for recommending mobile applications based on user context, an approach to find relevant resources in mobile semantic personal information management and a decentralized recommender system for personal digital assistants (PDAs).

TL;DR: A survey-based study was conducted to measure these effects, monitor their influence, project possible long-term develop-ments, and define early measures that would best harness this new technology.
Abstract: Internet in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia was introduced in the late 1990s. Being relatively new, its effects and impact on Saudi society are still in their infancy. A survey-based study was conducted to measure these effects, monitor their influence, project possible long-term develop-ments, and define early measures that would best harness this new technology. Covering a span of two years, this study also identifies and documents any noticeable shifts in perspectives. This work presents the findings and observations drawn from this study and is based on the direct interpretation and cross-analysis of survey responses.
