TL;DR: This study investigates the physicians’ satisfaction of laboratories’ services, in Maternity and Children Hospital in Makkah, to identify strength and possible limitations, which might inform the development plans for more efficient services.
Abstract: Physicians are primary customers of laboratory services and their perception of the provided services is considered an important measure of quality assurance. This study investigates the physicians’ satisfaction of laboratories’ services, in Maternity and Children Hospital in Makkah, to identify strength and possible limitations, which might inform the development plans for more efficient services.

TL;DR: The level of knowledge about HIV/AIDS and the attitudes toward patients are crucial factors in eradicating the disease.
Abstract: Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) is the causative agent of acquired immune deficiency syndrome (AIDS) that has no cure at present. Recently, medical education is the best tool to prevent the infection. The level of knowledge about HIV/AIDS and the attitudes toward patients are crucial factors in eradicating the disease.

TL;DR: The topic of biobanks is argued by reviewing the most relevant aspects of these centers by reaching a shared agreement and obtaining a universal concordance to achieve and maintain unity and create homogeneous system ofBiobanking.
Abstract: Biobanks are structures used for the preservation of biological samples. These repositories store biospecimens for short or long period of time, depending on the aim for which they are employed. The collections stored inside consist of different types and for each material there's a specific protocol to be followed, in order to keep sample in the best condition as possible. So, a good state is a primary hallmark and its basic to have a well-protected specimen to obtain reliable results fit for clinical purposes and research. In the last years, medical sciences are developing together with the progress of knowledge and skills: the need for new answer to questions about rare and common diseases has greatly contributed to the creation of a network of biobanks which cooperate in Europe and internationally to discover new findings. Therefore, the importance of biobanks is currently considerable. In this article, the topic of biobanks is argued by reviewing the most relevant aspects of these centers. Due to the strategic role of biobanks, the debate on their management and policy is focused on a variety of issues with the aim of reaching a shared agreement and obtaining a universal concordance. Only so, it will possible to achieve and maintain unity and create homogeneous system of biobanking.

TL;DR: Athrosclerotic lesions are a frequent hallmark of lifestyle-related disease; they develop silently and often go undetected until their condition and location precipitate myocardial and/or cerebral infarction and, not infrequently, sudden death.
Abstract: Hypertension, hyperlipidemia, diabetes, and obesity are the \"deadly quartet\" of lifestyle related diseases, those whose onset and slow progression are the result of choices made in everyday living. Each condition is bad enough alone, but combined they significantly increase the risk of death. Atherosclerotic lesions are a frequent hallmark of lifestyle-related disease; they develop silently and often go undetected until their condition and location precipitate myocardial and/or cerebral infarction and, not infrequently, sudden death.

Abstract: Lactoferrin (LF), an iron-binding glycoprotein, has a multifunctional role in humans, specifically in the regulation of iron homeostasis, host defense against infections and inflammations, even if some experimental studies attributed others activities to LF, such as cellular differentiation, regulation growth, protection against cancer development and metastases.

TL;DR: In detecting serum anti-CCP Antibody, there was diference between colloidal gold immunochromatographic assay and ELISA according to statistics analysis, which indicated that the coincidence between the two kinds of methods was good.
Abstract: Objective To evaluate the diagnostic values of enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA)and colloidal gold immunochromatographic assay in detecting serum anti-cyclic citrullinated peptide(anti-CCP)antibody.Methods Colloidal gold immunochromatographic assay and ELISA were used to detect serum anti-CCP antibody in 110 RA patients and 110 healthy cases. Results The data were analysed with the paired Chi-Square Test(χ2=174.354,P0.01),the difference was significant. The Kappavalue was 0.890(P0.01),indicating that the coincidence between the two kinds of methods was good. The sensitivity, speciality of ELISA were 83.64% and 92.73% respectively. Conclusion In detecting serum anti-CCP Antibody, there was diference between colloidal gold immunochromatographic assay and ELISA according to statistics analysis. The sensitivity and speciality of ELISA were higher than those of colloidal gold immunochromatographic assay.

TL;DR: This study was an expansion of a previous study to determine FVL in Arabs living in Kuwait in regards to skin color, and to determine if it is present in white-skin Arabs only or in all Arabs.
Abstract: Factor V Leiden mutation (FVL; G1691A) was reported in high percentages of white-skin Caucasians but was almost absent in non-white populations like Africans and Asians. In addition, studies found FVL in high percentage of Arabs, who consist of both white and non-white populations, but none of these studies sight saw the skin color of their positive cases. This study was an expansion of a previous study to determine FVL in Arabs living in Kuwait in regards to skin color, and to determine if it is present in white-skin Arabs only or in all Arabs.

TL;DR: The critical importance of cell dose in the clinical outcome, after transplant, has motivated the need to develop techniques aimed at reducing cell losses and increasing reproducibility.
Abstract: Hematopoietic stem cell transplantation is commonly used to treat several oncohematologic disease. The critical importance of cell dose in the clinical outcome, after transplant, has motivated the need to develop techniques aimed at reducing cell losses and increasing reproducibility.
