Abstract: The main purpose of the study was to identify the segments of consumers based on their environmental attributes (such as eco-literacy, environmental concern, attitude towards green products and willingness to pay for green products). Data was collected from a sample of graduate and post-graduate students enrolled in educational institutions located in the national capital of India (New Delhi) and surrounding areas, popularly known as National Capital Region (NCR). The data collected was analysed with the help of exploratory factor analysis, hierarchical clustering and discriminant analysis. Three segments i.e. Heavy greens, middle greens, and light greens were identified. Heavy greens are characterised by high levels of eco-literacy, environmental concern, positive attitude towards green products and willingness to pay for green products. Middle greens demonstrate high levels of eco-literacy but it does not translate into environmental concern and willingness to pay. Light greens are negatively disposed towards environmental issues and are indifferent towards environment-friendly products. It is expected that the study will be of immense benefit to marketers in identifying and effectively targeting consumer segments and also in dovetailing of marketing strategies in the context of green products in India.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors investigated courier service quality elements and the impact of perceived service quality on overall service quality in Malaysia and found that promptness, safety and convenience are the main contributors while accuracy and tangibility do not positively contribute to perceived service qualities.
Abstract: Considering the moderating impact of age, gender and ethnicity on consumer behaviour, the purpose of this study is to investigate courier service quality elements and the impact of perceived service quality on overall service quality. A total of 561 valid questionnaires were collected to empirically assess measurement and structural model using partial least square (PLS) path modelling approach. Our results imply that promptness, safety and convenience are the main contributors while accuracy and tangibility do not positively contribute to perceived service quality. In addition, perceived service quality positively influences overall service quality and ethnicity moderates overall service quality but age and gender do not moderate overall service quality. This study is among a few attempts to examine courier service quality elements in Malaysia. Contributions, practical implications and limitations are discussed.

TL;DR: In this paper, a mixed integer linear model is presented for the so-called green routing problem, which is a multi-depot problem wherein the assumptions of time windows and split-delivery are considered.
Abstract: Transportation imposes irreversible effects on the environment. Greenhouse gas emissions and carbon dioxide are either directly or indirectly associated with public health and ozone depletion. The necessity of addressing this issue emanates from the fact that, the greenhouse gases emitted by the transport sector comprise a significant portion of air pollution in many countries. Hence, the growing concern in this field has highlighted the need for the implementation of a comprehensive program to reduce the dangerous effects of road transport vehicles. To this end, green vehicle routing models based on lower fuel consumption and lower air pollution can be helpful. Therefore, in this study, a mixed integer linear model is presented for the so-called green routing problem. This is a multi-depot problem wherein the assumptions of time windows and split-delivery are considered. The results of the implementation of the model in a light auto parts distribution chain suggested the efficiency and effectiveness of the model.

TL;DR: A systematic multi-attribute decision-making methodology namely, preference selection index method is adopted for ranking priority dispatching rules for scheduling an assembly job shop, determined in a multi-objective environment.
Abstract: Assembly job shop scheduling problem (AJSSP) is an important NP-hard scheduling problem very difficult to solve because of its complex precedence relationship between jobs and product structures. In the present work, a systematic multi-attribute decision-making methodology namely, preference selection index method is adopted for ranking priority dispatching rules for scheduling an assembly job shop. A simulation model of an assembly job shop with seven work stations and one assembly station is developed for the purpose of experimentation. Eight priority dispatching rules from literature are identified and incorporated in the simulation model. Performance measures considered for analysis include mean flow time, maximum flow time, mean tardiness, maximum tardiness and machine utilisation. Products with single level assembly structure, two level assembly structure and three level assembly structure are examined to demonstrate and to check the applicability of the proposed methodology. The best performing priority dispatching rules are determined in a multi-objective environment.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors argue that the necessity to complement the classical management science dealing with management of the'systems world', by evergetics -science of intersubjective management processes in the 'world of everyday life', which has in its field of vision regulatory processes of problem situations involving heterogeneous actors.
Abstract: The article substantiates, for the purpose to improve effectiveness of management processes in society, the necessity to complement the classical management science dealing with management of the 'systems world', by evergetics - science of intersubjective management processes in the 'world of everyday life', which has in its field of vision regulatory processes of problem situations involving heterogeneous actors. The scientists, operating in the field of management, create for actors - these 'ordinary managers-theoreticians' - methods and tools necessary to carry out their activities. Heterogeneous actors define priorities for the development of the situation, formulate problems to be solved, establish criteria and constraints under which these problems should be solved, i.e., they answer the question 'why?' and 'what to do?' in order to settle the problem situation that has arisen in their everyday life.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors investigated the differential effects of CSR on compassion at the workplace based on social exchange mechanisms and found that CSR to social and non-social stakeholders, customers, government, and employees act as significant predictors of compassion in the workplace.
Abstract: Numerous studies have focused on the aggregate impact of corporate social responsibility (CSR) on employee behaviour. However, there are few studies which have investigated the differential effects of CSR components on employee behaviour. The objective of this study is to investigate the differential effects of CSR on compassion at the workplace based on social exchange mechanisms. The proposed model was tested on 478 employees who are working in the financial industry of the north-eastern states of India. The study revealed that CSR to social and non-social stakeholders, customers, government, and employees act as significant predictors of compassion in the workplace.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors examined the circumstances that prompt individuals to become small business owners using qualitative research, grounded theory approach, and with the help of narratives, they built on Elster's (1998) characteristics of emotions, namely, cognitive antecedents, intentional objects, physiological arousals, valence, and action tendencies.
Abstract: This study examines the circumstances that prompt individuals to become small business owners. Using qualitative research, grounded theory approach, and with the help of narratives, this study builds on Elster's (1998) characteristics of emotions, namely, cognitive antecedents, intentional objects, physiological arousals, valence, and action tendencies. The findings of this study suggest that an individual becomes a small business owner because of the various emotional experiences in his/her childhood caused by interaction with family members.

TL;DR: In this article, an integrated conceptual framework for customer loyalty that incorporates both attitudinal as well as behavioural aspects of loyalty is presented and a model based on three parameters that covers a total of eight different stages of loyalty including 'action loyalty'.
Abstract: The article presents an integrated conceptual framework for customer loyalty that incorporates both attitudinal as well as behavioural aspects of loyalty and proposes a model based on three parameters that covers a total of eight different stages of loyalty including 'action loyalty'. The contention of 'action loyalty' posits that a customer with 'action loyalty' for a brand purchases the preferred brand product or service against all odds and at all costs. The proposed model explains different stages of loyalty by considering various hypothetical situations. In turn, these situations can be related with any brand which will help the brand to match its current position with one of the loyalty stages in the model and also to switch from one stage to another in order to achieve absolutely loyal customer.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors studied the role of consumer, product and store factors in store brand purchase in this category and found that consumer factors like perceived quality, product familiarity, quality indicators and loyalty have a significant role in determining the private label purchase in food category.
Abstract: The Indian retail sector has become competitive with the emergence of organised retail players. Currently retailers are focusing on developing their own brands or private labels to enhance customer loyalty, to add diversity and for better margins. The study primarily looks into understanding the consumer preference for private labels or store brands in food category and to understand the role of consumer, product and store factors in store brand purchase in this category. Consumer responses are collected from the city of Cochin (India) using structured questionnaire. Cochin is one of the emerging non-metro city in India with enormous business potential. Five-point Likert scale is used to measure the factors. The study found that consumer factors like perceived quality, product familiarity, quality indicators and loyalty have a significant role in determining the private label purchase in food category. Quality indicators which include private label brand name, flavour and taste also influence private label purchase.

TL;DR: A dynamic arc routing problem motivated by daily maintenance operations on road networks to improve the maintenance efficiency is described and an algorithm based on the multiple scenario approach (MSA) is developed to deal with the uncertainty of the network.
Abstract: This paper describes a dynamic arc routing problem motivated by daily maintenance operations on road networks to improve the maintenance efficiency. Uncertain service and travel times on road segments are considered and defined using discrete stochastic distribution. An algorithm based on the multiple scenario approach (MSA) is developed to deal with the uncertainty of the network. The MSA scheme is triggered to update the maintenance routing by an event-driven mechanism. The computational experiments demonstrate the effectiveness of the algorithm.
