TL;DR: A modular multilevel dc/dc converter that can be deployed to interconnect HVDC networks of different or similar voltage levels is introduced in this paper and an open loop voltage control strategy that ensures power balance of each sub module capacitor via circulating ac currents is proposed.
Abstract: A modular multilevel dc/dc converter, termed the DC-MMC, that can be deployed to interconnect HVDC networks of different or similar voltage levels is introduced in this paper. Its key features include: 1) bidirectional power flow; 2) step-up and step-down operation; and 3) bidirectional fault blocking similar to a dc circuit breaker. The kernel of the DC-MMC is a new class of bidirectional single-stage dc/dc converters utilizing interleaved strings of cascaded sub modules. The DC-MMC operation is analyzed and an open loop voltage control strategy that ensures power balance of each sub module capacitor via circulating ac currents is proposed. Here, we are using the Ann controller. Artificial neuron is supposed to mimic the action of a biological neuron, i.e., to accept many different signals, xi, from many neighboring neurons and to process them in a pre-defined simple way. The goal of the neural network is to solve problems in the same way that the human brain would, although several neural networks are much more abstract.

TL;DR: This paper proposes a novel reversible picture information concealing plan over encoded area that gives higher inserting limit and can consummately remake the first picture and also the implanted message.
Abstract: This paper proposes a novel reversible picture information concealing plan over encoded area. Information inserting is accomplished through an open key balance system, in which access to the mystery encryption key isn't required. At the decoder side, an effective two-class SVM classifier is intended to recognize scrambled and non encoded picture patches, enabling us to mutually translate the installed message and the first picture flag. Contrasted and the best in class strategies, the proposed approach gives higher inserting limit and can consummately remake the first picture and also the implanted message. Broad exploratory outcomes are given to approve the prevalent execution of our plan.

TL;DR: This paper designs deep learning accelerator unit (DLAU), which is a scalable accelerator architecture for large-scale deep learning networks using field-programmable gate array (FPGA) as the hardware prototype and employs three pipelined processing units to improve the throughput.
Abstract: As the emerging field of machine learning, deep learning shows excellent ability in solving complex learning problems. However, the size of the networks becomes increasingly large scale due to the demands of the practical applications, which poses significant challenge to construct high performance implementations of deep learning neural networks. In order to improve the performance as well as to maintain the low power cost, in this paper we design deep learning accelerator unit (DLAU), which is a scalable accelerator architecture for large-scale deep learning networks using field-programmable gate array (FPGA) as the hardware prototype. The DLAU accelerator employs three pipelined processing units to improve the throughput and utilizes tile techniques to explore locality for deep learning applications. Experimental results on the state-of-the-art Xilinx FPGA board demonstrate that the DLAU accelerator is able to achieve up to 36.1× speedup comparing to the Intel Core2 processors, with the power consumption at 234 mW.

TL;DR: A novel Bayesian mix technique to join saliency maps, which is connected to coordinate the two saliency measures in light of thick and scanty recreation mistakes, and performs positively against 24 cutting edge techniques.
Abstract: In this paper, we propose a visual saliency location calculation from the point of view of recreation blunder. The picture limits are first extricated by means of super pixels as likely signs for foundation layouts, from which thick and scanty appearance models are developed. To start with, we figure thick and scanty recreation mistakes on the foundation formats for each picture district. Second, the reproduction blunders are proliferated in light of the settings acquired from K-implies bunching. Third, the pixel-level remaking blunder is registered by the incorporation of multi-scale recreation mistakes. Both the pixel level thick and scanty reproduction blunders are then weighted by picture conservativeness, which could all the more precisely recognize saliency. What's more, we present a novel Bayesian mix technique to join saliency maps, which is connected to coordinate the two saliency measures in light of thick and scanty recreation mistakes. Trial comes about demonstrate that the proposed calculation performs positively against 24 cutting edge techniques as far as accuracy, review, and F-measure on three open standard remarkable question discovery databases.

TL;DR: Hypothyroidism can prompt the psychological distress, depressive symptoms, and cognitive dysfunction during the prenatal and postnatal development and whole life.
Abstract: The maternal thyroid hormones (THs) facilitate significant actions on central nervous system (CNS) during the prenatal and postnatal development and whole life(El-bakry et al., 2010; Ahmed, 2011, 2012a,b, 2013, 2014, 2015a-c, 2016a-d, 2017a-u & 2018a-c; Ahmed et al., 2010, 2013a,b, 2014, 2015a,b &2018a,b; Ahmed and Incerpi, 2013;Van Hercket al., 2013; Ahmed andEl-Gareib, 2014,Incerpi et al., 2014; Candelotti et al., 2015; De Vito et al., 2015; El-Ghareeb et al., 2016; Ahmed and El-Gareib, 2017).On the other hand, postpartum thyroid disorders(hypothyroidism) are associated with the mood disorder and postpartum depression (PPD),and vice versa (Harris, 1999; Sylvén et al., 2013; Le Donne et al., 2017; Zhou et al., 2017). Several investigators reported that postpartum mood dysfunctions (PPD or severe psychosis) are the main feature of maternal psychiatric morbidity (Miller, 2002; Fergerson et al., 2002; Bloch et al., 2003; Dennis, 2004; Henshaw et al., 2004; Le Donne et al., 2012; Mento et al., 2017).During the perinatal and adulthood periods, TH deficiency (hypothyroidism) can cause the following (Miller et al., 2007; Samuels et al., 2007): (1) impair the neurotransmission activity in different brain regions particularly the hippocampus (learning and memory); (2)delay the cellular proliferation and migration (Leonard and Farwell, 1997; Farwell et al., 2006; Ahmed et al., 2008); (3)neurological and behavioral deficits; (4) irreversible mental retardation; (5) irreversible motor dysfunctions; and (6) impair the memory and learning. As well, hypothyroidism can prompt the psychological distress, depressive symptoms, and cognitive dysfunction (Constant et al., 2005; Bould et al., 2011; Mowla et al., 2011). The severity of depression and depressive episodes can be associated with the reduction in the levels of 3,5,3'-triiodothyronine (T3) (Saxena et al., 2000; Stipcevićet al, 2008) and reduction or elevation in the level of thyroxine (T4) (Kirkegaard and Faber, 1998; Saxena et al., 2000). In addition, a reduction in the levels of thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) and an elevation in the levels of T4 could cause depression in young men (Forman-Hoffman and Philibert, 2006). However, in women, an elevation in the levels of T4 only could cause some depression syndrome (Forman-Hoffman and Philibert, 2006). There are several mechanisms can be ascribed these disturbances as the following: (1) THs can cause catecholamine (norepinephrine) deficit via stimulation the post-synaptic β-adrenergic receptors in the different brain regions (cerebral cortex and cerebellum) (Atterwill et al., 1984; Ahmed et al., 2008); and (2) THs can reduce the impulse rate of neurons and the monoamine neurotransmission like serotonin (5-HT) (Heal and Smith, 1988; Ahmed et al., 2008; Belmaker and Agam 2008). These defects may reverse with adequate therapy such as the serotoninergic and adrenergic antidepressants (Łojko and Rybakowski, 2007; MacQueen, 2009; Brühl et al., 2011).

TL;DR: Smart bin is built on a microcontroller based platform Aurdino Uno board which is interfaced with GSM modem and Ultrasonic sensor which will measure the stature of the dustbin and alert the required authority until the garbage in the dust bin is squashed.
Abstract: In the recent decades, Urbanization has increased tremendously. At the same phase there is an increase in waste production. Waste management has been a crucial issue to be considered. This paper is a way to achieve this good cause. In this paper, smart bin is built on a microcontroller based platform Aurdino Uno board which is interfaced with GSM modem and Ultrasonic sensor. Ultrasonic sensor is placed at the top of the dustbin which will measure the stature of the dustbin. The threshold stature is set as 10cm. Aurdino will be programmed in such a way that when the dustbin is being filled, the remaining height from the threshold height will be displayed. Once the garbage reaches the threshold level ultrasonic sensor will trigger the GSM modem which will continuously alert the required authority until the garbage in the dustbin is squashed. Once the dustbin is squashed, people can reuse the dustbin. At regular intervals dustbin will be squashed. Once these smart bins are implemented on a large scale, by replacing our traditional bins present today, waste can be managed efficiently as it avoids unnecessary lumping of wastes on roadside .Foul smell from these rotten wastes that remain untreated for a long time, due to negligence of authorities and carelessness of public may lead to long term problems. Breeding of insects and mosquitoes can create nuisance around promoting unclean environment. This may even cause dreadful diseases.

TL;DR: The necessity of a better quality of power supply encourages the development of new specific custom power devices directly connected in medium-voltage distribution systems, and presents several advantages when compared with conventional two-level converters.
Abstract: Problems related to power quality, which in the last years were responsible only for small losses in low-voltage distribution systems, are now causing damage to power apparatuses and financial losses also in medium-voltage systems. The necessity of a better quality of power supply encourages the development of new specific custom power devices directly connected in medium-voltage distribution systems. It is well know that the multilevel converters are capable of being installed directly in the medium voltage, and presents several advantages when compared with conventional two-level converters. Some topologies, like the asymmetric cascaded multilevel converter, presents difficulties in regulating the voltages of all isolated dc-link capacitors.

Abstract: Legal tax planning is mostly done by the company with the aim of reducing the amount of tax paid to the government. The results show that the company tax avoidance in various ways such as increasing the number of fixed assets, increasing the amount of debt, reported losses to get fiscal loss compensation, and conduct earnings reporting management. Tax avoidance in its application to agency theory where there is a conflict of interest between managers as executors and investors. From the results of the research shows, that managers try to reduce the amount of tax paid officially so that the amount of tax paid is also small. The importance of knowledge about the recognition of accounting methods and the assessment of debt assets and income provides an opportunity for managers to reduce the amount of tax paid without violating the applicable rules. Therefore, the need for supervision from the government in making the reporting regulation of financial statements to minimize the practice of tax avoidance in the company.

TL;DR: In this paper, a hierarchical clustering method is proposed to support more search semantics and also to meet the demand for fast ciphertext search within a big data environment, which greatly enhances system usability by enabling search result relevance ranking instead of sending undifferentiated results, and further ensures the file retrieval accuracy.
Abstract: Cloud computing economically enables the paradigm of data service outsourcing. However, to protect data privacy, sensitive cloud data have to be encrypted before outsourced to the commercial public cloud, which makes effective data utilization service a very challenging task. Although traditional searchable encryption techniques allow users to securely search over encrypted data through keywords, they support only Boolean search and are not yet sufficient to meet the effective data utilization need that is inherently demanded by large number of users and huge amount of data files in cloud In this paper, a hierarchical clustering method is proposed to support more search semantics and also to meet the demand for fast ciphertext search within a big data environment. The proposed hierarchical approach clusters the documents based on the minimum relevance threshold, and then partitions the resulting clusters into sub-clusters until the constraint on the maximum size of cluster is reached. Ranked search greatly enhances system usability by enabling search result relevance ranking instead of sending undifferentiated results, and further ensures the file retrieval accuracy.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors proposed a methodology for selection best apparel item among different alternatives that will provide a decision support to the investors in opening a new garment factory, the proposed methodology is based on Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) under fuzzy environment.
Abstract: The readymade garments industry is rapidly growing and now it is the single highest export earner for Bangladesh. This business sector becomes an attractive investment destination to the country’s new young entrepreneurs upcoming due to its cheaper labor cost, lower investment cost, availability of resources, governments support, etc. than the other sectors. However, many other factors are often needed to consider in investing in this garments sectors. Again, in garments sectors, there is a wide range of apparel items like shirts, trousers, jackets, sweaters, etc. options that are available to invest. Different types of apparel items demand different types of resource requirements, diverse level of capital investment, operator’s skills, and it is also related to the many other factors. Again, all the investors are not in same stand points according to their business handling capabilities, capitals in hand, business locations and so many other aspects. This paper proposes a methodology for selection best apparel item among different alternatives that will provide a decision support to the investors in opening a new garment factory. The proposed methodology is based on Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) under fuzzy environment. The approaches allow the decision maker to use expert’s judgment in the form of linguistic expression in the evaluation process. In the application of proposed methodology, the best apparel item is selected for opening a garment factory in Bangladesh at present conditions.

TL;DR: In this paper, the performance of the shock absorber by varying the wire diameter of the coil spring is analyzed by considering the bike mass, loads, and no of persons seated on the bike.
Abstract: In vehicles problem happens while driving on bumping road condition. The objective of this project is to design and analyze the performance of Shock absorber by varying the wire diameter of the coil spring. The Shock absorber which is one of the Suspension systems is designed mechanically to handle shock impulse and dissipate kinetic energy. It reduces the amplitude of disturbances leading to increase in comfort and improved ride quality. The spring is compressed quickly when the wheel strikes the bump. The compressed spring rebound to its normal dimension or normal loaded length which causes the body to be lifted. The spring goes down below its normal height when the weight of the vehicle pushes the spring down. This, in turn, causes the spring to rebound again. The spring bouncing process occurs over and over every less each time, until the up-and-down movement finally stops. The vehicle handling becomes very difficult and leads to uncomfortable ride when bouncing is allowed uncontrolled. Hence, the designing of spring in a suspension system is very crucial. The analysis is done by considering bike mass, loads, and no of persons seated on bike. Comparison is done by varying the wire diameter of the coil spring to verify the best dimension for the spring in shock absorber. Modeling and Analysis is done using Pro/ENGINEER and ANSYS respectively.

TL;DR: This article reviewed the local resistance to the US-Japan military buildup and examined how the literary strategies of Chamoru poet Craig Santos Perez aim to expand the work of local activism, drawing on Hannah Arendt's theorisation of political speech in the public sphere and on Arturo Escobar's extension of that public space into public cyberspheres.
Abstract: Since 2006’s bilateral US-Japan pact, the island of Guåhan (Guam) has been anticipating an unprecedented buildup of US military and civilian personnel, and a commensurate increase in anti-militarisation and decolonisation activism. This essay reviews the local resistance to the buildup, and examines how the literary strategies of Chamoru poet Craig Santos Perez aim to expand the work of local activism. Drawing on Hannah Arendt’s theorisation of political speech in the public sphere and on Arturo Escobar’s extension of that public space into “public cyberspheres,” I argue that [guma’], the most recent volume of Perez’s three-book project from unincorporated territory, extends the public space of appearance of Guåhan’s anti-buildup activism to include the electronic space of online social media. By incorporating the speech emerging from that virtual community into poems, Perez structures and concretises what would otherwise be ephemeral, and invites new readers far from the island of Guåhan into the stakeholding community. Perez’s poetic strategies illustrate the way literature can serve as a nexus of activism, charting a way to resist militarisation in Guåhan and beyond.

TL;DR: In this paper, three-dimensional nonlinear thermal numerical simulations are conducted for the friction stir welding (FSW) of AA 7020-T53, and the results show that the temperature field in the FSW process is symmetric distributed with respect to the welding line, increasing travel speed decreasing transient temperature distribution and increasing rotational speed increase temperature distribution.
Abstract: Three-dimensional nonlinear thermal numerical simulations are conducted for the friction stir welding (FSW) of AA 7020-T53. Three welding cases with tool (rotational and travel) speeds of 900rpm-40mm/min, 1400rpm-16mm/min and 1400rpm-40mm/in are analyzed. The objective is to study the variation of transient temperature in a friction stir welded plate of 5mm workpiece thickness. Based on the experimental records of transient temperature at several specific locations during the friction stir welding process for the AA 7020-T53, thermal numerical simulation is developed. The numerical results show that the temperature field in the FSW process is symmetrically distributed with respect to the welding line, increasing travel speed decreasing transient temperature distribution and increasing rotational speed increase temperature distribution. Experimental data illustrates that peak temperatures are higher on the advancing side than the retreating side. Comparison with the temperature measured by the thermocouples records shows that the results from the present numerical simulation have good agreement with the test data.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors present a working paper with an objective to gather the opinion of the organized workforce in the Central Public Sector Enterprises with regards to their acceptance and satisfaction level of the various ‘Employees welfare and Social Security’ measures by the employers.
Abstract: Labour plays a very important role in the industrial production of the country. The human resource managers are concerned with the management of people at work. It is necessary to secure the co-operation of labour force in order to increase the production and earn higher profits. The co-operation of labour force is possible only when they are fully satisfied with their employer and the working conditions on the job. In the past, industrialists and the employers believed that their only duty towards their employees was to pay them satisfactory wages and salaries. But in due course of time, in addition to providing monetary benefits, human treatment given to employees started to play a very important role in seeking their co-operation. Labour or employee welfare activities benefit not only the workers but also the management in the form of greater industrial efficiency. The welfare activities pay a good dividend in the long run, because they contribute a lot towards the health and efficiency of the workers and towards a high morale. On the other hand, social security has come up as a dynamic concept which is considered in all advanced countries of the world as an indispensable chapter of the national programme. Social security is that security which the society furnishes through appropriate organisation against certain risks or certain contingencies to which its members are exposed. These risks are essentially contingencies against which the individual cannot afford by his small means and by his ability or foresight alone. As the name stands for general well- being of the people it is the duty of the state to promote social security which may provide the citizens with benefits designed to prevent or cure disease, to support him when he is not able to earn and to restore him to gainful activity. The state as an employer has provided for certain measures for the welfare and social security of the labourers, who contribute towards the economic development of a country and in this regard, the government has to see towards the proper implementation of such measures to maintain a harmonious industrial relation on the one side and on the other hand towards the upliftment of the members of the society. Thus, there arise the vital needs for the detailed assessments of the measures so provided, its quality of implementation so far and the level of satisfaction of the same among the different class of employees. The present study acts as a working paper with an objective to gather the opinion of the organized workforce in the Central Public Sector Enterprises with regards to their acceptance and satisfaction level of the various ‘Employees welfare and Social Security’ measures by the employers. However, the present study is restricted to two enterprises only and is undertaken with the following objectives: To analyze the opinions of the employees in respect of the labour welfare measures & social security benefits. To analyze the level of satisfaction or otherwise of the workers in respect of social security measures.

TL;DR: Klerfelt et al. as discussed by the authors compared the performance of Swedish school-age educare centres and German all-day schools and found that the Swedish model is more oriented towards fostering creativity and imagination, whilst the German model is oriented towards curricular learning.
Abstract: In Sweden and in Germany, an extensive system of extended education programmes and activities has been established within the last decades. Prototypic examples of this development are school-age educare centres in Sweden and all-day schools in Germany. In this article a bi-national comparison, aiming to find some similarities and differences by means of historical background, current questions of student learning, staff professionalism, and research findings, is presented. It can be shown that, though Swedish school-age educare centres and German all-day schools are based on pedagogical roots reaching back to the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th century, their historical developments are quite different. Whilst in Sweden the school-age educare idea became entrenched in the society and the collective beliefs about the necessity of learning outside the classroom, in Germany the all-day school model never prevailed. That only changed in the beginning of the 21st century when PISA showed that the German education system was not performing very well. Based on the different developments over time, both models established different features. With regard to student learning, the Swedish model is more oriented towards fostering creativity and imagination, whilst the German model is more oriented towards curricular learning. One difference concerning the students are that in Germany the all-day school embrace both children and youths up to the end of secondary-II level (up to 18/19 years), in Sweden young people older than 13 years old cannot participate in the school-age educare. In Sweden educators working outside of the classroom are academically trained in quite the same way as classroom teachers, whilst in Germany there is no such common regulation. Based on the more curricular learning centred view in Germany, some large scale effectivity studies were conducted within the last decade. Such comprehensive research programs are lacking in Sweden. We will give a short overview of some main research findings and discuss future research topics. TL;DR: Several multilevel modular DC/DC conversion systems based on the capacitor-clamped module concept for high power offshore wind energy applications are presented and a cascaded hybrid topology is developed by the combination of double-switch and switchless modules.
Abstract: Recently, the interest in offshore wind farms has been increased significantly because of the stronger and more stable winds at sea, which will lead to a higher power production. DC/DC power conversion solutions are becoming more popular for fulfilling the growing challenges in the offshore wind power industry. This paper presents several multilevel modular DC/DC conversion systems based on the capacitor-clamped module concept for high power offshore wind energy applications. Two types of the capacitor-clamped modules, the double-switch module and switchless module, are discussed. A soft-switching technique is adopted to achieve minimal switching losses and the maximum system efficiency. Theoretical analysis is carried out for the 2n+1 level cascaded configurations based on the capacitor-clamped modules. The inherent interleaving property of the proposed configurations effectively reduces the output voltage ripple without adding extra components. A cascaded hybrid topology is developed by the combination of double-switch and switchless modules. The experimental results of two 5-kW prototype capacitor-clamped converters are presented to validate the theoretical analysis and principles as well as attest the feasibility of the proposed topologies.
