TL;DR: The Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) is a theory of measurement through pairwise comparisons and relies on the judgements of experts to derive priority scales that measure intangibles in relative terms.
Abstract: Decisions involve many intangibles that need to be traded off To do that, they have to be measured along side tangibles whose measurements must also be evaluated as to, how well, they serve the objectives of the decision maker The Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) is a theory of measurement through pairwise comparisons and relies on the judgements of experts to derive priority scales It is these scales that measure intangibles in relative terms The comparisons are made using a scale of absolute judgements that represents, how much more, one element dominates another with respect to a given attribute The judgements may be inconsistent, and how to measure inconsistency and improve the judgements, when possible to obtain better consistency is a concern of the AHP The derived priority scales are synthesised by multiplying them by the priority of their parent nodes and adding for all such nodes An illustration is included

TL;DR: Ease of use (EoU) and usefulness are perceived as most significant adoption factors in mobile service usage, which are related to both "service" and "social" aspects.
Abstract: Mobile technologies are gaining more popularity and diffusing into different aspects of our life. Value added services (VAS) have a huge impact on consumers' usage patterns and have become a significant differentiator across the operators, which has led to new opportunities in the innovation of differentiating and useful services. This paper explores the process of mobile service adoption and targets identifying the preferred features of mobile services. A series of interviews were conducted to address the objectives listed. A model was developed based on the factors identified. The major aspects of the model are service and social.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors focus on the strategic planning stage and build an integrated logistics model based on elements of supply chain management theory, which provides specific recommendations to practitioners and identifies important areas to be researched.
Abstract: Management of disaster relief logistics requires different techniques at different levels. We identify four stages: 1 strategic planning which concerns high level decisions such as supplier selection and confirmation of communication protocols 2 preparedness which concerns decisions regarding the amount and location of relief supplies to be stored 3 pre-event response which concerns decisions during those occasions when an approaching disaster, such as a hurricane, has been detected 4 post-event response which concerns what needs to be done immediately after a disaster has occurred. In this article, we concentrate on the strategic planning stage and build an integrated logistics model based on elements of supply chain management theory. This model provides specific recommendations to practitioners and identifies important areas to be researched. We also point out the applicable techniques at each of the other stages and cite relevant literature.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors argue that the leagile approach is not a universal solution in the fashion and textile business and that the lean approach is more adequate for some companies.
Abstract: In fashion and textile business, the demand changes rapidly due to fashion trends and a volatile market situation. This demand is unpredictable and could vary and change completely in a short time, creating high difficulties for supply chain. To create a leagil (lean and agile) supply chain is one observed way for a fashion and textile retailing company to optimise its performance and to remain competitive. One good example from such is fashion retailer Zara, which has adopted leagile approach and combined this with key success factors for fashion retailing. However, in this paper, we argue that the leagile approach is not a universal solution in the fashion and textile business. For some fashion and textile companies, the lean approach is more adequate. Case study findings and simulation results reveal that the lean and leagile approach could coexist as different strategy alternatives – simulation results favour leagile strategy, while five year profitability analysis shows lean apparel retailer H&M to have higher profitability than Zara.

TL;DR: The method aims at integrating the expert investigator's prior understanding, insight on the terrorists' social network nature derived from the complex graph theory and computational data processing.
Abstract: This paper addresses a method to analyse the covert social network foundation hidden behind the terrorism disaster. It is to solve a node discovery problem, which means to discover a node, which functions relevantly in a social network, but escaped from monitoring on the presence and mutual relationship of nodes. The method aims at integrating the expert investigator's prior understanding, insight on the terrorists' social network nature derived from the complex graph theory and computational data processing. The social network responsible for the 9/11 attack in 2001 is used to execute simulation experiment to evaluate the performance of the method.
