TL;DR: In this article, the authors examined the possible relationship between democratic values, problem-solving skills, and attitudes toward violence and found that democratic values have predictive role on problem solving skills.
Abstract: The main objective of this study is to examine the possible relationship between democratic values, problem-solving skills, and attitudes toward violence. In addition, it studies whether democratic values, problem solving skills and the tendency of attitudes toward violence differ according to different variables. Descriptive model was used in the research. The study group of the study consisted of a total of 326 students, 172 female and 154 male selected by appropriate sampling from three middle schools in Konya. It was used Basic Democratic Values Questionnaire, Problem Solving Inventory for Children, and the Adolescents' Attitudes Toward the Violence in the study. While the data were analyzing, t test, ANOVA test, Pearson Moment Product Correlation analysis and simple linear regression analysis were used. When the data obtained from the research were examined, there was a significant difference in the level of attitudes toward violence according to the gender variables. There was a significant difference in problem solving skills and attitudes toward violence according to grade variables. Pearson's correlation analysis revealed statistically significant and negative relationship between democratic values, problem-solving skills, and attitudes toward violence. As a result of simple regression analysis, democratic values have predictive role on problem solving skills; it is seen that problem-solving skills are important variables in the tendency towards violence.

TL;DR: The idea that females can engage in sexually predatory behavior against children and adolescence is difficult to convey to the lay pubic since most of society believes the notion defies conventional ways of viewing the gendered nature and roles that women traditionally perform Despite this, scholars and researchers examining child sexual abuse are beginning to report on silent offenders and their victimizations that have been largely ignored by criminal justice personnel who are responsible for holding sex offenders accountable.
Abstract: The idea that females can engage in sexually predatory behavior against children and adolescence is difficult to convey to the lay pubic since most of society believes the notion defies conventional ways of viewing the gendered nature and roles that women traditionally perform Despite this, scholars and researchers examining child sexual abuse are beginning to report on silent offenders (women and young females) and their victimizations that have been largely ignored by criminal justice personnel who are responsible for holding sex offenders accountable We argue that female sex offending is more common than believed and is both a criminal justice and a public health issue We also argue that until society recognizes that sex offending is not a gendered crime, more cases will escape the attention of both criminal justice and public health systems that are in positions to punish and treat where appropriate

TL;DR: In this article, the authors present the local results, especially the assessment of the social and psychological aspects of hope in relation to lifelong learning, and highlight the significant relationships between hope, PsyCap and other relevant variables that impact educational and future life success.
Abstract: The world of work is constantly changing whereby innovation and challenges requires oneself to be competitive. Although, human capital and social capital are vital to the success, psychological capital (PsyCap) has been proposed as a new complementary concept that remains in success. Research proves that hope is a good predictor of subjective well-being. Promoting academic PsyCap helps achieve academic success. The author attempts to draw parallels to consider the construct of PsyCap that can predict educational success, substantiates the assumptions in light of results of survey “Psychological Perspectives on Perceived Hope”, and highlights the significant relationships between hope, PsyCap and other relevant variables that impact educational and future life success. These dynamics of lifelong learning, hope, and psychological capital needs further empirical clarification. The purpose of this paper is to present the local results, especially the assessment of the social and psychological aspects of hope in relation to lifelong learning. Accordingly, the paper has three aims: Firstly, what is the role of the demographic structure of the samples in enabling social change (optimism and enthusiasm, happy life years, self-efficacy) and hope of life (well-being, basic human needs, life satisfaction)? Secondly, what are the predictability of social change and hope of life? Thirdly, what are the correlation of social change and hope of life? These research questions capture broader social and psychological debates about the topics of lifelong learning, social exclusion, well-being, hope and psychological capital, and they also assist us to progress the discussions around the hope for a good life. SPSS (t-test, ANOVA, multiple regression analysis, canonical correlation analysis) is utilized to gather descriptive statistics.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors analyze indigence as a social phenomenon and discuss the factors that have contributed to its permanence over time, focusing on street people in Belem, Para state, Brazil.
Abstract: This article analyzes indigence as a social phenomenon and discusses the factors that have contributed to its permanence over time. The study focuses on street people in Belem, Para state, Brazil, as an expression of indigence and how public authorities have treated the issue. To provide context, we discuss 19 th century social hygiene polices and show how attitudes toward the homeless and thus treatment of this group has changed over time. The current homeless situation is related to the effects of neoliberal policies, psychiatric and prison deinstitutionalization processes and changes related to drug use and availability. Perception and treatment of the homeless are based are based on the biased view that these individuals are unproductive citizens or even criminals. Research results show that, while homeless populations have generally increased across the globe, we observe specific traits related to social exclusion tendencies present for centuries at the local level in Belem.

TL;DR: It is found that minority opinions are likely to be reflected as weighting increases proportionally in two of the above three methods, which means that Sen and Gotoh's idea of considering the social position of unfortunate people on ordinal ranking was shown by weighting the minority's positionality on cardinal voting.
Abstract: Respecting minority opinions is vital in solving social problems. However, minority opinions are often ignored in general majority rules. To build consensus on pluralistic values and make social choices that consider minority opinions, we propose aggregation methods that give weighting to the minority's positionality on cardinal cumulative voting. Based on quadratic and linear voting, we formulated three weighted aggregation methods that differ in the ratio of votes to cumulative points and the weighting of the minority to all members, and assuming that the distributions of votes follow normal distributions, we calculated the frequency distributions of the aggregation results. We found that minority opinions are more likely to be reflected proportionately to the average of the distribution in two of the above three methods. This implies that Sen and Gotoh's idea of considering the social position of unfortunate people on ordinal ranking in the welfare economics, was illustrated by weighting the minority's positionality on cardinal voting. In addition, it is possible to visualize the number and positionality of the minority from the analysis of the aggregation results. These results will be useful to promote mutual understanding between the majority and minority by interactively visualizing the contents of the proposed aggregation methods in the consensus-building process. With the further development of information technology, the consensus building based on big data will be necessary. We recommend the use of our proposed aggregation methods to make social choices for pluralistic values such as social, environmental, and economic.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors measured two organizational factors of importance for every organization: labor satisfaction and organizational commitment, and analyzed them under the perspective of the sociology of organizations: Frederick Herzberg's theory of the two factors of motivation (hygienic and motivational) and Meyer and Allen's model of the three components of organizational commitment.
Abstract: This article measures two organizational factors of importance for every organization: labor satisfaction and organizational commitment. The analysis is made under the perspective of the sociology of organizations: Frederick Herzberg's theory of the two factors of motivation (hygienic and motivational) and Meyer and Allen's model of the three components of organizational commitment (1990). The methodology is empirical, descriptive and quantitative. The study was carried out with a sample of 59 employees, classified as reliable personnel of the Academic Secretary of an Institution of Higher Education (IES) in the city of Cuernavaca, Morelos. The instruments used were two questionnaires emanated from the theory itself with the purpose of knowing aspects related to the two study variables. This instrument allowed to identify the types of organizational commitment and the levels of work satisfaction and satisfaction that exist in the university organization.

TL;DR: In the 19 th century, the development of natural science and the emergence of enlightenment gradually gave birth to social science in modern Europe as discussed by the authors, and Western theories and methods progressively entered China and were accepted by Chinese scholars.
Abstract: In the 19 th century, the development of natural science and the emergence of enlightenment gradually gave birth to social science in modern Europe. As Europe opened the door to China in the middle of the 19 th century, Western academia began to pay attention to China, and Western theories and methods progressively entered China and were accepted by Chinese scholars. Most saliently, some Christian missionaries and Orientalists have completed more serious studies of Islam in China, and published several corresponding works and research results on this basis. During this period, those who studied Islam and Muslims in China could be divided into two categories. the Religious people, including Christian missionaries. and Scholars, including Orientalists. Subsequently, when Western missionaries entered China, they found the presence of a large Muslim group, so they began to study them and organize missionary work. Although this missionary activity proved unsuccessful in terms of the number of converts to Christianity, it maintains a certain positive significance regarding religious and cultural exchange, and cross-civilizational interaction. Documents recording the encounters between Christianity and Islam in China since modern times are scattered in journals such as Chinese Repository , The Chinese Recorder , Friends of Moslems , The Moslem World and China’s Millions .

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors provide an extensive review of sampling methods used in qualitative research and discuss the extent to which saturation might help alleviate the issues concerning these methods, sample size sufficiency and when to sample.
Abstract: Sampling is one of the most controversial matters in qualitative research. Qualitative researchers have often been denounced for not giving adequate rationalisations for their sample size resolutions. This study aimed to provide an extensive review of sampling methods used in qualitative research and discuss the extent to which saturation might help alleviate the issues concerning these methods, sample size sufficiency and when to sample. The study specifically honed on the sampling adequacy (how big or how small should a sample be), the sampling techniques used and whether sample sizes should be delineated a priori, posteriori or during analysis. Having highlighted, the paradoxically nature of these aspects, through an overview of the sampling process, the researcher explored saturation as a tool to alleviate the challenges and the lack of objectivity in sampling in qualitative research. The overall findings were that, saturation does provide same degree of transparency and quality in sampling, but the concept is not immune to controversy, guidelines on how to apply it or achieve it remain foggy and contestable among researchers. Discussions are in most cases oversimplified and comparatively unknowledgeable. The answer to the research question, was that, what really constitutes an adequate sample size is only answerable within the context of the study, scientific paradigm, epistemological stance, ontological and methodological assumptions of the research conducted. Contextualisation of the mode of saturation adopted, clear articulation of the research methodology and transparent reporting of the whole process is key to enhance the role of saturation in alleviating subjectivity in sampling. This paper sought to make a contribution to the on-going methodological discourse on how qualitative researchers can justify their sampling decisions.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors examined the linkage between ABO blood type and occupations in Japan and found that personality traits corresponding to blood type appeared in the data of each of the three groups of politicians and athletes, and all differences were statistically significant.
Abstract: In Asian countries, e.g., Japan, South Korea, China and Taiwan, many studies on the relationship between ABO blood type and personality have been conducted. Recently, it has been estimated that more than half of Japanese, Korean and Taiwanese people feel that this relationship is legitimate. Therefore, when data from these countries are used in personality tests, it is theoretically difficult to eliminate the effects of the “contamination of knowledge,” even if differences are found. To avoid this issue, this study examined the linkage between ABO blood type and occupations in Japan. The results showed that personality traits corresponding to blood type appeared in the data of each of the three groups of politicians and athletes, and all differences were statistically significant. We observed a clear and significant relationship between blood type and personality. Additionally, it is also necessary to consider the influence of social background.

Abstract: Xi Jinping has three important conclusions about the spiritual independence of the Chinese nation, namely, the independence of the national spirit is the foundation of a country's political, ideological, cultural and institutional independence; Cultural self-confidence is a big issue concerning the independence of the national spirit. Socialist core values and Four Self-confidences are important supports to maintain the independence of the national spirit. The proposal of spiritual independence of the Chinese nation not only embodies the Chinese nation's high self-consciousness and self-determination in spiritual independence, but also strengthens the basic idea that the Chinese nation adheres to independence in opening to the outside world. Furthermore, it shows that the Chinese nation upholds the basic proposition of respecting the independence of every nation and country in the world.

TL;DR: Wang et al. as discussed by the authors analyzed the live-action movie Mulan revealing the ethnocentric abuse of the target culture as the "other": arbitrary appropriation, rewriting and distortion of its historical events and traditional values.
Abstract: Released in September, 2020, Mulan , a live-action film starring Liu Yifei, was adapted by Disney from the Ballad of Mulan [1] . The film was produced from its animated version Mulan (1998) which hit global box office amounting to 304 million with marvelous reputation. However, the live-action movie Mulan did not continue the brilliant results of the previous work. Instead, Mulan (2020) disappointed most Chinese audience [2] because historical facts and cultural values about Mulan were excessively appropriated, rewritten and alienated. Applying theories of Postcolonialism, this essay analyzes the live-action movie Mulan revealing the ethnocentric abuse of the target culture as the “other”: arbitrary appropriation, rewriting and distortion of its historical events and traditional values. Also, theories of popular culture will be used to analyze the cultural industry strategies applied in this unsuccessful film. [1] the Ballad of Mulan (Chinese: 木兰辞; pinyin: Mu lan ci), a famous folk song of the Northern Dynasty in China. [2] The investment in the live-action film Mulan is as high as US$200 million (about 1.4 billion RMB). As a result, the global box office is less than US$70 million. Also, the score in Douban is only 5.0 points. (the full mark is 10.) Sources:https://new.qq.com/rain/a/20201102A0J6EO00,https://movie.douban.com/subject/26357307/

TL;DR: In this article, a group of postgraduate students keep silent in their online classes through classroom observation, stimulated recall interviews and in-depth interviews, and the reasons can be classified into three categories: the peculiarity of online class, the uniqueness of post-graduate academic lesson, and other general reasons resembling the ones in the traditional classroom.
Abstract: Online classroom silence is an overlooked site of research irrespective of the growing popularity of online teaching in today’s education. Against this background, this study showcases why a group of postgraduate students keep silent in their online classes through classroom observation, stimulated recall interviews and in-depth interviews. Reasons found are classified into three categories: the peculiarity of online class, the uniqueness of postgraduate academic lesson, and other general reasons resembling the ones in the traditional classroom. In addition, these factors are found to be interconnected and sometimes exerting both positive and negative effects; unexpectedly, the factor of ‘losing face’, contrary to previous studies, is trivial in contributing to postgraduate students’ online-classroom silence.

TL;DR: In this article, a framework for universal skills is proposed based on a thorough literature review of the existing international frameworks and of the skills and competencies required to integrate into the labor market.
Abstract: Migration flows are steadily increasing worldwide. Especially in Europe, the percentage of immigrants from third countries generally ranges from 9% to 17%. As one of the main factors that plays an important role in the overall integration of migrant groups in host countries is their ability to work, there is an emerging need for effective policies and mechanisms to identify and certify skills and qualifications of migrants, asylum seekers and refugees in order to enable them to integrate effectively into the labor market. Many existing skills frameworks at European and international level emphasize the importance of cognitive skills as well as non-cognitive skills, attitudes and also the crucial role of personality traits that determine the success and employability of the workforce. A framework for universal skills is proposed based on a thorough literature review of the existing international frameworks and of the skills and competencies required to integrate into the labor market. In addition, a field survey with a structured questionnaire was conducted with both employers and migrant groups, to capture the views of both on the selected skills included in the framework and to confirm the extent to which those skills are considered important towards the labor market integration of migrant groups in the host countries. The results of the research highlighted on one hand the importance of hard skills required to perform a task and on the other hand the soft skills that are of particular importance regardless of the profession. Moreover, a high majority of both groups stated that skills profiling and online assessment tools that matches skills with labour market needs would be valuable in recruiting procedures.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors studied the impact of social mobility on individual anxiety and the mediating effect of self assessment on family economic status and found that the increase of positive mobility distance can alleviate individual anxiety to a certain extent.
Abstract: With the aggravation of social competition, more and more people fall into anxiety, depression and even suicide. How to alleviate individual anxiety and then avoid the spread of social anxiety? Academic circles have been very concerned about the impact of social mobility on individual political attitude, psychology and behavior. Can social mobility alleviate individual anxiety? What is the underlying mechanism? Based on 17192 samples in 2010, 2012, 2013 and 2015 from Chinese General Social Survey (CGSS), the paper attempts to study the impact of social mobility on individual anxiety and the mediating effect of Self assessment on family economic status . The ordered probit regression model showed that the increase of positive mobility distance can alleviate individual anxiety to a certain extent, whether it is intra or inter-generational social mobility. Meamwhile, the higher the score of subjective class identification, the lower the degree of anxiety. The results also showed that self assessment on family economic status has a significant mediating effect on the relationship among social mobility and individual anxiety.

Abstract: This article examines two novels written by two writers from distinct nationalities –one is an American citizen and the other is a French citizen; their linguistic landmarks are visibly illustrated in their respective texts. Despite that cultural difference, those exegetes of literature, share common aesthetic values. On the one hand, they cross their geographical boundaries and on the other hand, textualize black Diaspora, Western social realities, African/Western cultures and spaces, thus giving credence to the ideals of globalization. A global policy, which advocates the removal of cultural barriers between countries and human beings. Through creative art, those writers free themselves from every sectarian practice, promote the humanist and open one. Being now world citizens and evolving in a planetary village, they make divergent judgments upon some of the regions of their new ideal society. Black/white characters, through the prism of literary texts, judge Africa and the Western World. Both spaces are poetically praised and denigrated. This perceptive ambivalence is the focus point of the current study, whose anchor is primarily comparative semiotics. By drawing upon its operational principles, this work aims to decipher the semantic network, which emerges from both visions.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors investigated new ethical theories that have been shown to influence organizational commitment and potentially decrease knowledge-hiding practices among employees, and found that FLT had a significant negative relationship (-0.64) with knowledge hiding.
Abstract: Knowledge hiding is a destructive behavior that degrades organizational success. Knowledge hiding is the intentional withholding of information from another employee. It has been reported that 76% of U.S. employees hide knowledge from each other. The displaced aggression theory suggests that employees are more likely to hide knowledge from others in the presence of mistreatment by a leader. Therefore, there was a need to investigate new ethical theories that have been shown to influence organizational commitment and potentially decrease knowledge-hiding practices among employees. This research used foundational leadership theory (FLT) developed by Fuller in 2021 to examine the overall influence on knowledge hiding. The sample consisted of 306 full-time employees across various industries throughout the United States. The results indicated that FLT had a significant negative relationship (-0.64); regression analysis indicated that, as FLT increased, knowledge hiding decreased by 0.57. Therefore, leadership training programs that teach ethical leaders based on integrity, assurance, and pragmatism will likely reduce knowledge hiding tactics among employees and create a strategic advantage among competitors.

TL;DR: In this paper, a longitudinal study has been conducted for six months with a one-year-old child with DS between 12 and 18-months of age, where sessions of video recording was conducted each week, videotaping the boy and his mother interacting in different object permanence and cause-effect activities.
Abstract: The study intends to raise a discussion regarding the question of whether a Mediated Learning Experience (MLE) can be considered applicable to children younger than two years with Down Syndrome (DS), to stimulate their cognitive abilities. In fact, currently MLE approach is used mainly for children of at least two years of age. The longitudinal study has been conducted for six months with a one-year-old child with DS (named T.) between 12 and 18-months of age. Sessions of video recording was conducted each week, videotaping the boy and his mother interacting in different object permanence and cause-effect activities. The article presents first a discussion about similar characteristics that can be identified between MLE and the Karlstad-model, an established approach used regularly in Norway to enhance the communication abilities of children with DS already from the first months. Then, the research presents and discusses how simple activities used also to introduce the Karlstad-model for enhancing child’s communication ability can be used to support specific cognitive functions. The study raises interest about the possibility of defining activities suitable for an MLE approach with focus on children younger than two years of age with DS. The results obtained are not generalizable but provide a starting point for discussion that opens up to possible qualitative and quantitative subsequent studies carried out on larger populations.

TL;DR: In this article, an overview of the key legislative interventions in Albania to prevent gender-based and domestic violence and its impact in the society by highlighting main achievements and recommendations for further improvement, based on the analysis of results in the area.
Abstract: Gender-based and domestic violence happens in all societies all over the world. During the last decade in Albania gender - based violence has become more visible as a major problem. Domestic violence has been considered as a private matter and not a society issue. Albania did not recognize existence of domestic violence until 2006, when it adopted the Law on Measures against Violence in Family Relations. Official data show an increase in the general prevalence of violence against women in the family, from 56% in 2007 to 59.4% in 2013 and 52.9% in 2019. This legislative review presents an overview of the key legislative interventions in Albania to prevent gender-based and domestic violence and its impact in the society by highlighting main achievements and recommendations for further improvement, based on the analysis of results in the area. Methodology is based in a depth review of the key legal interventions on gender equality and domestic violence in the country. This review indicates that the response mechanisms have improved by following a multi-disciplinary point of view, however still profounder efforts are needed to provide proper services to domestic violence victims.

Abstract: This article analyzes the socio-judicial organization of a Quilombola community in the state of Para, Brazil. Using a pluralistic judicial systems approach, we seek to understand how Quilombolas define who has local land rights and to what capacity they can use the territory. The analysis was based on ethnographic field research in the community of Bairro Alto, on Marajo island, in Para state, Brazil. Methods included: participant observation, interviews and questionnaires. The results showed that order in the territory is maintained through local judicial practices constructed during land occupation processes, and later reorganized on the basis of social relationships involving large-scale farmers, ranchers, neighboring Quilombola communities, and the State. Judicial tenets, intrinsic to the community, guide residents’ current land struggles where they are fighting to restore lands expropriated by ranchers that pertain to their original territory. Local legal practices converge with principles of article 68 of the Federal Constitution, making possible the correction of historical injustices related to land struggles in Quilombola communities.

Abstract: This article analyzes the electoral competition strategy adopted by the Brazilian presidential candidate Jair Bolsonaro on Twitter, supported by the saliency theory – where candidates compete by emphasizing different topics and selecting issues from a universal agenda to focus the campaign’s attention and efforts. The salience Bolsonaro’s winning campaign attributed to values during the 2018 presidential election. Values are attitudinal guidelines related to different social, religious, economic, and political concepts, covering various topics on views about what is desirable or undesirable in a society. The study used content analysis to explore and categorize a corpus of 809 tweets posted in the account @jairbolsonaro. The data was mined by applying computational intelligence methods and using the public API and the Python Twint library. Four dimensions of cultural variance found in the World Values Survey were used to establish the categories: traditional values, rational-secular values, survival values, and self-expression values. The results show that the content of Bolsonaro’s electoral competition strategy was based on traditional moral values and the campaign’s format was developed primarily via social media.

TL;DR: Kuttab et al. as mentioned in this paper discussed the implications of the US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo's decision to declare that Israel's illegal settlements in the West Bank of the Jordan River are a crime of war.
Abstract: One of the major problems that the hague international court of law is trying to deal with is the question about the legality of the jewish settelments at the west bank of the Jorden river-one of the outcomes from the 1967 war. Throughout history, the treatment of non-combatant civilian populations has been examined from various angles, most prominently with respect to the issue of the displacement of those on the losing side of a conflict, while the victorious party often settles the seized land with "less desirable" elements within its own population. [1] This phenomenon is repeated in the exile of the Jewish people throughout history; the exile of criminals from England to Australia between 1788 and 1868; and in the appalling efforts of ethnic cleansing pursued by the Nazis in the Second World War, the Soviet Union's purge in Eastern Europe the 1950s, or the French rule of Algeria. [2] This has been the case in countless wars and conflicts worldwide, one of the most prominent of which is the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Here, the issue at heart is Jewish settlement in an area the Palestinians call the "West Bank" of the Jordan River and that Jews refer to as "Judea and Samaria" and see as an inextricable part of their ancestral homeland, of which they had been robbed and which they liberated. On November 18, 2019, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo announced an announcement that in this article I wish to examen as a reflection to the major problem that the hague court of law call that this is "a crime of war" and Israel call it "our legal right"-who is on the right side? At first glance, this statement seems to contradict everything that has been said, done statement? Or is it that the concept of "illegal settlements" is a distortion of the Geneva Convention? [3] The first chapter of this essay focuses on international law and whether it is a doctrine set in stone or a mutable fabric of woven conventions, including some that may be politically motivated or biased with respect to a certain issue, namely, populating disputed areas with the people of a party perceived as an occupying force. The second chapter of this essay focuses on the dispute over the settlement enterprise in the Israeli-Palestinian case and how it is viewed from a number of completely different perspectives. The third chapter of this essay focuses on the circumstances and motives that drove the latest American administration to make such a controversial statement.the big question is are these circumstances still valid under a new American regime? how such statement affects the Hauge court decisions about investigate the so called war crimes made in Israel? The final chapter of this essay will summarize and attempt to predict the future results of this move: Whether Israel — as the Palestinians have already warned [4] — plans to exploit the court move in favor of annexing areas it perceives as a bulwark against threats to its sovereignty, such as the Jordan Valley; or whether this move will brace the parties' ability to, for example, explore a land swap, and will this render the two-state solution [5] upon which the Israeli-Palestinian peace process has been so far based invalid. This paper will try to outline the possibilities this decision of the court may herald, and delve into its implications, reasoning, and potential consequences. On this days that we make the scope on the Hague court to check Israel crime of war this essay will try to open another scope to events that occurred only three years ago. [1] Morgenthau, H. J. Abstract: The osmosis between Iranian exile, Oriental repertoires, and the commodification of nostalgia in film and contemporary 1 culture alludes to the Disney reproduction of the East that is capitalized by Hollywood’s invisible hand. The commodification of Orientalist logic via nostalgia of old civilization and Achaemenid grandeur is conveyed by Hamid Naficy’s (1991) reference to Edward Said’s (1978) ‘imaginary 2 geography’—the inventive tool of narration that augments tales and anecdotes of exilic narratives, while heightening essentialism of the East. The European modeling of coronation, bejeweled scepters of royalty under the Pahlavi period (1941-1979), and cinematic repertoires of Iranians in film are perpetuated for viewers via fetishization, lust, and enchantment. The televised 1967 coronation of Queen Farah (b. 1938) solidified the trope of the Persian ‘Empress’ through picturesque markers of Achaemenid rulership (550-330 BCE). Media 3 propagations of nostalgia in the paradisiacal Pahlavi coronation can be paralleled to current illusions of the Orient presented in the film Paterson (Jarmusch, 2016), starring exiled Iranian actress Golshifteh Farahani. I refer to the Pahlavi coronation to expand on the spectacle of ‘nostalgia’, and the desire for a distant homeland. Naficy’s (1991) interpretation of ‘nostalgia’—a factor of exile, expounds how relics and objects induce a longing for the distant and ahistorical. Objects of nostalgia are inexplicably weaponized in Hollywood inventions of Near Eastern characters and serve as palpable symbols of the East via skewed representations of women, sexuality, and the exotic 4 (Ahmed, 2006). Poetry, nostalgia, and fictional tales of the Orient in Paterson (Jarmusch, 2016) allude to Said’s (1978) vision of the imperialist project in Orientalism. The inventive and imaginary power of color media in the televised Pahlavi coronation and the fashioning of a politically permanent subject of interest—Iranians and the East, augured a pertinent era of media post-coloniality 5 via the preservation of orientalism, rather than the Orient.

Abstract: This study analyzes the relationship between the allocation of funds raised in a public offering of shares and abnormal profitability on the first day of trading. The objective is to identify whether the allocation of resources can be considered for the decision-making of investors. To measure the data, multivariate analysis was used, and the data survey considered the information from the prospectuses of the public offers and the announcements for the closing of the offers, between January 2007 and December 2011. Two hypotheses were tested: one in relation to allocation of resources and another in relation to the group of investors participating in the offer. The results show that there is no relationship between the allocation of resources and the abnormal returns of companies. However, for investors who are part of the company's management, they were related to abnormal stock returns on the first day of trading.

Abstract: This study aims to examine the potential for physical expression on the part of infants through observations of their motions before and after exercise programs, with an understanding of the potential for physical expression as the development of a sociality that seeks to communicate with other children in the experience of an exercise program. The 106 study participants comprised 29 three-year-olds, 44 four-year-olds, and 33 five-year-olds. During the exercise intervention period, a exercise program focusing on rhythm play was carried out for 6 minutes per day. The ability for physical expression was analyzed using 12 criteria related to the areas of motion, space, dynamics, time, and relationships, which revealed the characteristics of each grade of students. Significant interactions were observed in criteria 11 and 12, related to the area of relationships, across all grades. Specifically, in the efforts of those from around the age of four, which involved repeating motions in a particular rhythm, it was shown that this could be expected to greatly increase the impact on the potential for bodily expression. It was discovered that the experience of an exercise program involving rhythm play, even if they only experienced it a few times, brought a greater degree of richness to the movement of the children while at the same time expanding their awareness of other children and giving rise to behaviors through which they actively participated in communication.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors examined the impact of the computerized technological environment on the motivation of eighth graders while learning the subject of parallelogram, and whether there are differences in the level of motivation of students who studied parallealogram in a computerized environment and those who studied the same subject in a traditional school environment.
Abstract: The goal of the current study is to examine the impact of the computerized technological environment on the motivation of eighth graders while learning the subject of parallelogram, and whether there are differences in the level of motivation of students who studied parallelogram in a computerized environment and those who studied the same subject in a traditional school environment. The use of the semi-experimental descriptive analytical curriculum, which consisted of a sample of (30) eighth grade students who were selected in a deliberate manner was implemented. The main study tool is a set of pretests and posttests, along with a computerized intervention unit that is meant to enhance students’ motivation. The results of the study clearly indicate that the involvement of the computerized environment contributed to raising the students’ level of mastery of parallelogram as a subject in eighth graders by raising internal motivation. In light of the findings of the study, the researcher recommends adopting the results of the research, handling the computerized environment as an integral part of the educational system, and qualifying the teacher to be able to actively work within a computerized environment.
