Abstract: Le congres '100 ans de Sociologie: Retrospectives et Prospectives' celebrant le Centenaire de l'Institut International de Sociologie m'a amene a analyser d'une maniere approfondie les volumes des Annales de l'IIS publies entre 1894 et 1931. Des la creation de l'Institut International de Sociologie en 1893 a Paris, de nombreux congres internationaux furent organises, et ceci, par le Secretaire general de l'Institut, Rene Worms. Les actes de ces congres temoignent des travaux, des discussions et de la vie de l'Institut. Ces Annales contiennent de precieuses informations sur les activites de l'Institut a l'epoque. Outre la liste des membres et associes, leurs pays d'origine et les postes occupes, ils donnent des indications detaillees sur les activites internationales pendant ces annees. Tres tot Rene Worms reussit a reunir au sein de l'Institut, les personnalites les plus connues des differents pays, autant en Europe—de l'Angleterre a la Russie—qu'en Amerique du Nord et du Sud, et ceci, conformement a la vocation de l'Institut. Les congres devinrent alors le lieu de rencontre de personnalites du monde entier qui participaient a la presentation de travaux, a des echanges de point de vue et a la discussion de problematiques parfois proposees par l'Institut comme theme d'un Congres et, a d'autres occasions, laissees aux choix des congressistes. L'ensemble de ces documents constitue un corpus d'un interet primordial pour obtenir des informations sur la particularite des relations internationales de l'epoque entre des personnes exercant des professions plus ou moins liees a la sociologie et pour comprendre les obligations professionnelles liees au moment historique, comme par exemple, la necessite de s'imposer en tant que societe savante et, enfin, pour temoigner du role de la discipline dans l'analyse des societes et du caractere particulier d'une conception de la sociologie que les congres et les contributions refletent. Ces documents ont ete analyses selon plusieurs points de vue:
