TL;DR: In this paper, the main effect, interaction effects and optimal levels of the process factors were determined using signalto-noise (S/N) ratio for enhanced lovastatin production.
Abstract: Ten media components (glucose, lactose, D,L-methionine, Magnesium sulphate, Soybean Meal, PEG-400, Citric Acid, Sodium Acetate, Calcium Carbonate and Glycerol) were optimized by Taguchi Robust Design using Aspergillus terreus (JX081272) for enhanced production lovastatin which has been used in medicine to lower the level of the cholesterol in a human organism. The main effect, interaction effects and optimal levels of the process factors were determined using signalto-noise (S/N) ratio. Predicted result showed that enhanced lovastatin production 2.55 g/l can be achieved with glucose (75 g/l), lactose (60 g/l), D,L-methionine (0.5 g/l), Magnesium sulphate (1.5 g/l), Soybean Meal (25 g/l), PEG-400 (3 g/l), Citric Acid (5 g/l), Sodium Acetate (9 g/l), Calcium Carbonate (6 g/l) and Glycerol (15 g/l).
