Abstract: The influence of cetane number improver on heat release rate and emissions of a high-speed diesel engine fueled with ethanol-diesel blend fuel was investigated.Different percentages of cetane number enhancer(0~0_0,0.2~0_0,0.4~0_0) were added to blends,and the engine tests were performed on a high speed diesel engine.The results show that the engine power decreases slightly; the thermal efficiency improves remarkably,and the NO_x and smoke emissions decrease simultaneously when diesel engine is fueled with blends.Besides, the engine power can be recovered,NO_x and smoke emissions are further reduced when cetane number improver is added to blends.By the combustion analysis,it can be found that the ignition delay prolongs;the total combustion duration shortens,and the maximum heat release rate increases for ethanol-diesel blend fuel when compared to diesel fuel; in addition,the combustion characteristics of ethanol-diesel blend fuel at large load may be recovered to diesel fuel by cetane number improver. However a large difference still exists at lower load.

Abstract: The pyrolysis,ignition and burnout characteristics and activation energy of three kinds of brown coal and their blends were studied by thermogravimetric analysis.The experimental results show that the parent coals keep their own individual ignition and carbon burnout characteristics in blend combustion.The pyrolysis characteristics and activation energy of coal blends are decided by the blending rate.Meanwhile,a general combustion parameter S N,which can well indicate the combustion characteristics is proposed in this paper.

Abstract: The multi-layer wire mesh structure suppressing the explosion of the premixed acetylene/air and propane/air gases has been studied.Three concepts,critical quenching velocity,critical quenching pressure and quenching parameter,have been put forward.Both flame propagating speed and pressure are used to describe explosion suppression.Quenching parameter is used to weigh the suppression capability of the suppressive struetttre.The relationship among three parameter and geometrical parameter of the multi-layer wire mesh suppressive structure has been studied.And the empirical formula of the relationship has been obtained. With the increase of geometrical parameter,the capability of quenching is improved.

Abstract: The increase process of pool fire burning diesel oil and some factors affecting the burning of the fuel are discussed based on some experiments. The increase process of the pool fire after ignition can be divided into two stages: the first stage takes up about 1/3 of the whole increase process and can be modeled as t-squared increase with an increase factor lying from 0. 12 to 0. 28; the second stage takes up about 2/3 of the whole increase process and can be modeled as a quadratic curve of time. The burning rate and heat release rate per unit area increase along with the increase of burning area and improvement of ventilation conditions. In the tests, the combustion efficiency of diesel oil lies between 0. 68 and 0. 85.
