TL;DR: In this article, the authors employed a quantitative research design and the data were collected from the students of a state school in the winter term of 2015-2016 Education Year, by means of the two instruments: the Perceptual Learning-Style Preference Questionnaire (PLSPQ), and the Multiple Intelligence Inventory.
Abstract: Exploring learning style and multiple intelligence type of learners can enable the students to identify their strengths and weaknesses and learn from them. It is also very important for teachers to understand their learners’ learning styles and multiple intelligences since they can carefully identify their goals and design activities that can teach to the different intelligences, and design student-centered activities. This study aims to reveal secondary school students’ multiple intelligences and learning styles. It also aims to describe gender differences and the relationship between learning styles and multiple intelligences of the students. The research study employed a quantitative research design and the data were collected from the students of a state school in the winter term of 2015-2016 Education Year. The data were gathered by means of the two instruments: The Perceptual Learning-Style Preference Questionnaire (PLSPQ), and the Multiple Intelligence Inventory. It was observed that the students had almost all these types of learning styles but mostly they were found to be tactile and auditory learners. The three intelligence groups: Naturalistic, Visual and Kinesthetic intelligences types received the highest score. The analyses also indicated that there was a significant difference between males and females. It was seen that most of the intelligence types and learning styles had a moderate positive correlation.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors investigated the relationship between the Turkish elementary school students' reading comprehension and reading motivation, and they found that there is a positive, medium and significant correlation between the students' levels of reading comprehension determined with cloze tests made up of both narrative and informative texts.
Abstract: Reading is an important language skill whose main purpose is comprehension. In the reading process, visible symbols must be perceived and interpreted in the brain. Once the reading skill has been acquired, it can become a tool for having access to information, analyzing and interpreting it. All of these depend on the reading comprehension skill. Thus, evaluation of reading comprehension is one of the subjects to which great importance is attached. Particularly the evaluation of the level of students’ reading comprehension is a subject of great interest for many researchers. In this regard, the current study aimed to investigate the relationship between the Turkish elementary school students’ reading comprehension and reading motivation. At the end of the study, it was found that there is a positive, medium and significant correlation between the students’ levels of reading comprehension determined with cloze tests made up of both narrative and informative texts and reading motivation. In addition, a positive, medium and significant correlation was found between the students’ levels of reading comprehension determined with open-ended questions made up of both narrative and informative texts and reading motivation. Increase in the students’ reading motivation affects their reading comprehension positively and significantly. Furthermore, reading motivation explains 12-13% of the total variance in their reading comprehension.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors examine causes and effects of deviant behavior, and identify main strategies to combat the issue by using theoretical framework analysis, literature review, and qualitative research.
Abstract: Deviant behavior has become a daunting problem lately. More pupils are displaying abnormal behavior and thus destabilizing learning processes within school settings. It is a well-known fact that teenagers usually learn how to adapt to society and that aberrant behavior may lead to problems with conformity to societal values. Although the main causes of deviant behavior have been elucidated, the problem, despite numerous studies, deviant behavior has not been fully understood by scholars. The notion of deviance is closely related to the definition of the social norm which was defined almost a hundred years ago. The present study aims to examine causes and effects of deviant behavior, and identify main strategies to combat the issue. The research methods employed included a theoretical framework analysis, literature review, and qualitative research. A set of recommendations for the teenagers with deviant behaviour and their parents were identified to help them adjust to society.

TL;DR: In this paper, a study was conducted on 360 teachers who were chosen according to simple random sampling method and working in primary schools, secondary schools and high schools in Adapazari district of Sakarya province.
Abstract: The purpose of this study is to determine whether or not the grit level of teachers varied according to their personal variables. The research, in the descriptive screening model, was conducted on 360 teachers who were chosen according to simple random sampling method and working in primary schools, secondary schools and high schools in Adapazari district of Sakarya province. In the data collecting phase, “Grit Scale”, which is developed by Duckworth and Quinn (2009a) and adapted into Turkish culture by Argon and Kaya (2017), is used. Means, standard deviations and parametric analyzes of individual variables were used in the analysis of the research data. According to the results of the research, grit level of the teachers is at the level of agreeing in the dimension of total scale and consistency of interest while in the dimension of the perseverance of effort is at level of being fully agreeing. Teachers' views of their grit level according to their personal variables revealed a significant difference only in perseverance of effort dimension in terms of sex. Age, vocational seniority, school type, graduation status and branch variables are not influential variables in teacher opinions and teacher opinions are similar. It has emerged that female teachers are more gritty than male teachers in perseverance of effort dimension in which teachers’ views differ from one another Some of the suggestions developed according to the research results are as following: Although the grit levels of teachers are close to high, they are not at the desired level and qualitative studies can be used to determine the factors affecting teachers' wishes and expectations in order to increase this level and fulfil their needs. Since the grit levels of the teachers contribute to the improvement of the performance of the students, with the establishment of the environments where the teachers can use these potentials, with fund allocation for effective use of this qualified human power at the current level in the schools and with creating the conditions for teachers to take part in long-term projects, the motivation of the teachers can be increased. New and different researches can be carried to determine the organizational variables other than the personal variables that may affect the teachers’ grit.

Abstract: The purpose of this study is to investigate sport center members' perceived service quality levels with a view to Kano customer expectations and requirements model. To that end, a descriptive approach and a correlational research design featuring survey method is adopted. Research group consists of 680 (300 women, 380 men) sport center members who are chosed through multistage sampling (Cluster). “Sport Fitness Centers Perceived Service Quality Scale and Expectation Scale are used as data collection tools. Independent samples t-test, Pearson Correlation analysis and Multiple Linear Regression tests are used to analyzed the data. In the light of the findings, it is seen that all the subdimensions have medium or high level positive significant relationships with the expectation when the subdimensions of the expectation scale and the SFC-PSQS are compared. According to the results of the Independent Samples T-test, the expectation levels of the customers stating that the programme fee is expensive are significantly lower. In conclusion, as the customers’ perception of service quality in the sport center increases, their expectation levels also generally increase significantly. The customers expect that the quality of service they receive to be high and to meet their expectations exceedingly. However, it is also predicted that physical and psychosocial factors affecting the expectation can also affect the perception of service quality at a significant level. Since the service quality and meeting the expectations of the customers is an important indicator to maintain the businesses’ existence, studying with multiple factors attempting to understand the nature of service quality and the customer expectations should be conducted.

In the study, the quasi-experimental model and pretest-posttest control grouped experimental design was employed. The experimental process step of the study was carried out on 6th-grade students who receive education in a secondary school in Turkey in 2017 and maintained for 18 weeks. 60 students are included in the study group of the research (control group=30, experimental group=30). For the purpose of measuring the attitude scores towards science course, “The Scale of Attitude towards Science Lesson” was used. The experimental phase was performed by science lesson teacher both in the control and experimental groups. No experimental process was applied in the control group. The instruction was provided in accordance with the Science Course Curriculum. While the instruction was provided in line with the control group in the experimental group, out-of-school learning environments were also included in the teaching process. Out-of-school learning environments were specified by considering the learning outcomes in the 6th-grade science curricula. Experimental group students visited out-of-school learning environments with the guidance of the science teacher. Science museum, anatomy museum, planetarium, nature trip, science festivals, energy park and aqua park are among the out-of-school learning environments. As a result of the study, it was seen that the attitudes of the students in the experimental group were increased at a significant level, and no significant improvement was realized in control group students’ attitudes.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors reveal the relation between lifelong learning tendency and achievement motivation by using regression analysis on SPSS 22 and find that there is a low, positive correlation (r=0.095) between prospective teachers' achievement motivation and lifetime learning tendency at 95% confidence interval.
Abstract: The aim of this study is to reveal the relation between lifelong learning tendency and achievement motivation. The sampling of the study consisted of 570 prospective teachers attending a pedagogical formation course at two universities in Turkey in 2016. Relational screening model was used in the study and the data were collected through achievement focused motivation scale and lifelong learning tendency scale. The collected data were analysed using regression analysis on SPSS 22. As the findings suggest, there is a low, positive correlation (r=0.095) between prospective teachers’ achievement motivation and lifelong learning tendency at 95% confidence interval. As for the correlation between lifelong learning tendency and the sub-dimensions of achievement motivation, lifelong learning tendency has a significant correlation with the expansion of objective (r=0,139), self-consciousness (r=0,128) and internal effect (r=0,089). However, it doesn’t correlate significantly with external effect (r=-0,024). As the standardised regression coefficient (β) indicates, the relative order of importance of predictor values on lifelong learning tendency is as follows; external effect, expansion of objective, self-consciousness and internal effect.

TL;DR: In this paper, the effect of project-based learning on students' attitude towards English classes was studied in an experiment with 51 students attending grade 10 at an Anatolian high school in the Western Black Sea region of Turkey.
Abstract: The purpose of this research is to define the effect of project- based learning on students’ attitude towards English classes. The study group of the research consisted of 51 students attending grade 10 at an Anatolian high school in the Western Black Sea region of Turkey. In the quantitatively designed research, the “control group pre-test– post-test design”, one of the experimental designs, was applied. The “Scale of Attitude towards English Classes” was used as the data collection tool. The scale consists of 20 items and three sub-dimensions. The research data were compared by applying the Mann Whitney U test and the Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test, calculating the standard deviation value and arithmetic average on the SPSS22 program. Results of the research indicate that there was a significant difference between the experimental group’s pre-test and post-test scores in favour of the post-test. There was a significant difference between the experimental and control groups’ post-test results in favour of the experimental group.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present the prominence of physical education, physical activity and sports fields in Turkish literature, and examine undergraduate and graduate programs in which physical educators are trained to shape both all students and athletes.
Abstract: As the basis of characteristics, qualifications, behaviors, awareness, knowledge and understanding of the development of healthy active living and physical recreation opportunities Physical Literacy (PL); has become a global concern in the fields of physical education and recreation since its first use as a term. Experts from different countries and disciplines underline the necessity of expanding the PL context. Despite this international recognition, neither the existence of a work on PL in nor a model of PL in physical education programs has yet to be seen in Turkish literature. The aim of this study is to introduce such an important concept to Turkish literature by a comprehensive literature review and to present the prominence of PL in terms of physical education, physical activity and sports fields. In addition, under the scope of this study, undergraduate and graduate programs in which physical educators are trained to shape both all students and athletes are examined and various proposals are made about how to place PL in these programs. By examining the graduate and postgraduate programs of faculties of sport and physical education and sport sciences in 98 universities in Turkey and NCTR, we come to a conclusion that between the 3.-6. semesters of graduate programs, the introduction of the PL course, training and modules will increase the awareness and competence of the PL. Moreover we expect that it would be beneficial to train these field specialists and bring them to my country through the opening of specific post-graduate training programs in the field of PL.
