TL;DR: Particle reinforced metal matrix composites (PRMMCs) have become very promising materials due to their significant advantages over conventional materials such as high specific modulus, improved resistance to wear, improved resilience to high cycle fatigue and fatigue crack threshold, higher stiffness-to-weight ratio, low coefficient of thermal expansion and high thermal conductivity as discussed by the authors.
Abstract: Aluminium matrix composites have been emerged as advanced materials that are well suited in automotive, space, aircraft, defense, and in other engineering sectors. Aluminium and its alloys occupy third place among the commercially used engineering materials. Use of aluminum in transport sector has increased from just 6% in 1950 to 23% in year 2000. Consumption of aluminium casting has increased from 85,000 ton in 1995 to 145,000 ton in year 2000. Among the prime materials currently available to meet the challenges of modern airframe design is aluminum, which has a proven 70-year record of continuous improvement and cost effectiveness. The enormous amount of research and development (R&D) that has gone into Al-based MMCs of every possible alloy with different dispersoids establishing beyond doubt the usefulness of making composites but a choice has to be made with both the base alloy selection and dispersoid size and volume percentage for making engineering components. By suitable choice of the metal matrix and the reinforcement phase, a wide range of property combinations can be obtained. Particle reinforced metal matrix composites (PRMMCs) have become very promising materials due to their significant advantages over conventional materials such as high specific modulus, improved resistance to wear, improved resistance to high cycle fatigue and fatigue crack threshold, higher stiffness-to-weight ratio, low coefficient of thermal expansion and high thermal conductivity. The type, size, shape and relative proportion of the dispersoid govern the mechanical properties of metal matrix composites.

TL;DR: The basics of harnessing unstructured data from the web and the techniques to process it are discussed, and the concepts of web crawling, text mining and natural language processing are discussed in brief, to give an outline of how web data is processed and analysed.
Abstract: Unstructured data refers to information that doesn’t have a pre-defined data archetype. Unstructured information is typically textual data, but may also contain numerical data, and factual details. This results in data that is obscure, irregular and ambiguous, thus making it difficult to analyse using conventional computing means. Much of the data in the web, in the form of blogs, news, social media platforms is unstructured. But they serve as a potential vast source of information, if processed efficiently. In this paper, the basics of harnessing unstructured data from the web and the techniques to process it are discussed. The concepts of web crawling, text mining and natural language processing are discussed in brief, to give an outline of how web data is processed and analysed. Sentiment Analysis, which is a major aspect of present day NLP, is also described, along with issue of mining from Twitter, which has emerged as the most important data source for NLP in the recent past. The paper concludes with a brief outline of the use of web data mining and analysis, and the potential for future growth in the field.

TL;DR: The proposed assemblage is introduced to maximize the effectiveness in identifying attacks and achieve high accuracy rate as well as low false alarm rate.
Abstract: Network Security has become the key foundation with the tremendous increase in usage of network-based services and information sharing on networks. Intrusion poses a serious risk to the network security and compromise integrity, confidentiality & availability of the computer and network resources. Human classification of network audit data is expensive, time consuming and a tedious job. Intrusion Detection System (IDS) is one of the looms to detect attacks and anomalies in the network. Data mining technique has been widely applied in the network intrusion detection system by extracting useful knowledge from large number of network data. In this paper a hybrid model is proposed that integrates Anomaly based Intrusion detection technique with Signature based Intrusion detection technique is divided into two stages. In first stage, the signature based IDS SNORT is used to generate alerts for anomaly data. In second stage, data mining techniques "k-means + CART" is used to cascade k-means clustering and CART (Classification and Regression Trees) for classifying normal and abnormal activities. TL;DR: In this paper, the value stream mapping has been used to uncover waste in manufacturing, production and business processes by identifying and removing or streamlining non-value-adding steps.
Abstract: Value Stream Mapping has the reputation of uncovering waste in manufacturing, production and business processes by identifying and removing or streamlining non-value-adding steps. A flow diagram showing the process is drawn to reflect the current state of the operation. The non-value actions are identified in each step and between each step by their waste of time and resources. The process is analyzed with the help of simulation software for opportunity to drastically reduce and simplify it to the fewest actions necessary. By reducing wastefulness the proportion of value adding time in the whole process rises and the process throughput speed is increased. This makes the redesigned process more effective (the right things are being done) and more efficient (needing fewer resources). This paper explains about the corrective methods for eliminating the non-value added activities in the die casting industry with the help of Arena simulation software. The reengineered process is flow charted in its future state with process steps and information flows redesigned, simplified and made less expensive and increase in productivity.

TL;DR: This paper uses the DES algorithm for encryption of the data and to enhance the performance of the cloud storage remote data integrity checking concept is used to reduce the time and computational cost.
Abstract: Use of cloud computing is increasing rapidly but the security is main issue inside the cloud computing. Lot of research have been done on the cloud. Data can be efficiently store, share and download on the cloud storage. This improves user’s interaction with resources without any trouble. There are number of techniques to achieve the security in the cloud security inside the cloud computing. Many of them uses operations on dynamic data along with computation. This will force user to make copy of the user data on the cloud which will prevent the data loss and updation of the data. The efficient distributed storage auditing mechanism is prepare to overcome the data loss inside the cloud computing. But copies of duplicate data will lead to the memory overload of the cloud. So this paper presents the method for data partitioning. Data partitioning methods is also used to avoid the duplication of user data. Cloud data integrity get enhanced due to non-redundancy. It helps in enhancement of localization of the errors. It need to cooperate with server to detect the misbehaving user. This paper uses the DES algorithm for encryption of the data. To enhance the performance of the cloud storage remote data integrity checking concept is used. The cloud contains dynamic data and to reduce the time and computational cost data partitioning plays an important role.

TL;DR: The Manufacturing Time based Challenge as mentioned in this paper is an organized way focusing on reduction of total throughput time in manufacturing firm, which has a cascading influence on value and worth, as cycle times are reduced, output increases equally.
Abstract: Manufacturing Organizations faces a Problem in reduction of cost and efficiency Challenges in their manufacturing Operations. To stand up in today’s Globalization world, Manufacturers need to find ways to reduce Production time and cost in order to improve operating performance and Product quality. Manufacturing Time based challenge is an organized way focusing on reduction of total throughput time in manufacturing firm. Reduce time has a cascading influence on value and worth. As cycle times are reduced, output increases equally. If reduction in cycle time is fifty percent and work in process inventory is twice turns causes output to increase from twenty to seventy percent. As output increases, resource capacity is freed. Two major effects take place: expenses turn down, and the manufacturing firm becomes capable of producing considerably more output with fewer assets: a successful arrangement.

TL;DR: A personalized mobile search engine that captures the users’ preferences in the form of concepts by mining their click through data, and addresses the privacy issue by restricting the information in the user profile exposed to the PMSE server with two privacy parameters is proposed.
Abstract: We propose a personalized mobile search engine, PMSE, that captures the users’ preferences in the form of concepts by mining their click through data. Due to the importance of location information in mobile search, PMSE classifies these concepts into content concepts and location concepts. In addition, users’ locations (positioned by GPS) are used to supplement the location concepts in PMSE. The user preferences are organized in an ontology-based, multi-facet user profile, which are used to adapt a personalized ranking function for rank adaptation of future search results. To characterize the diversity of the concepts associated with a query and their relevances to the users need, four entropies are introduced to balance the weights between the content and location facets. Based on the client-server model, we also present a detailed architecture and design for implementation of PMSE. In our design, the client collects and stores locally the clickthrough data to protect privacy, whereas heavy tasks such as concept extraction, training and reranking are performed at the PMSE server. Moreover, we address the privacy issue by restricting the information in the user profile exposed to the PMSE server with two privacy parameters. We prototype PMSE on the Google Android platform. Experimental resultsshow that PMSE significantly improves the precision comparing to the baseline.

TL;DR: In this paper, a Static Synchronous Compensator with Battery Energy Storage System-STATCOM/BESS, which is an ideal scheme to solve problems of wind power generation.
Abstract: The sources such as wind power and solar power are expected to be promising energy sources when it is connected to the power grid. The wind generators have a significant impact on the power quality, voltage profile and the power flow for customers and electricity suppliers. The power exhausted from above energy sources varies due to environmental conditions. Due to the fluctuation in nature of the wind, the wind power injection into an electric grid affects the power quality. The influence of the wind sources in the grid system concerns the power quality such as the reactive power, active power, voltage variation, harmonics and electrical behaviour in switching operation[1]. Demonstration of a grid side connected wind turbine is considered here with the problem arise due to the above system. At the point of common coupling a Static Synchronous Compensator with Battery Energy Storage System-STATCOM/BESS, can regulate four-quadrant active and reactive power, which is an ideal scheme to solve problems of wind power generation. As the power from wind generation varies with time so the battery energy storage used to maintain constant real power comprehensively from varying wind power. The power generated through wind generator can be stored in the batteries at low power demand hours[2-4]. The combination of battery storage with wind energy generation system will synthesize the output waveform by absorbing or injecting reactive power and enable the real power flow required by the load. The control strategy can coordinate charge or discharge of batteries with reactive power compensation of STATCOM, and balance the batteries capacity. If required, amount of energy consumed or given to the grid can be observed through an online smart meter connected in the circuit.

TL;DR: In this article, the ILO Minimum Age Convention 138, 1973 and Convention 182 concerning the Prohibition and immediate action for the Elimination of the Worst Forms of Child Labour, 1999 are discussed.
Abstract: Exploitation of children through unacceptable forms of child labour continues to exist in all parts of the world. We know that certain groups of children are in a particularly vulnerable position. We know that school authorities and teachers see certain patterns of children performing poorly and even dropping out of school. We know that many of these children risk ending up in child labour as defined in ILO Minimum Age Convention 138, 1973 and Convention 182 concerning the Prohibition and immediate action for the Elimination of the Worst Forms of Child Labour, 1999. The latter include slavery, debt bondage, trafficking, sexual exploitation, the use of children in the drug trade and in armed conflict together with hazardous work. Identifying particularly vulnerable groups of children and their particular needs is a critical element in eliminating child labour. Article 7 of Convention 182 requires ratifying states to “identify and reach out to children at special risk.” This working paper documents how indigenous and tribal children indeed are often such children at special risk. ILO and its constituents have a long history of addressing the particular needs and rights of indigenous and tribal peoples. The growing number of countries ratifying ILO Convention 169 concerning indigenous and tribal peoples in independent countries testifies to this. There are indications of high numbers of worst forms of child labour among indigenous peoples in certain countries in South Asia, Southeast Asia and Latin America. Indigenous and tribal children are found to make up a large part of child labourers in certain risk areas, such as debt-bondage in South Asia, migratory agricultural wage labour in Central America and Mexico, and trafficking in Southeast Asia. In spite of this, indigenous visions of education have only recently begun to be acknowledged in the design of formal education services, curriculum development and teacher training. While it is true that many indigenous children work as an intrinsic part of growing up and learning in their communities, this does not justify the blind acceptance of “cultural” explanations for child labour, whether they are presented by governments, employers or parents. Formal education has been, and in some cases continues to be, a double-edged sword for indigenous peoples
