TL;DR: The most consistent effect was a significant decrease in stimulated GTPγS binding in the lateral septum after all four treatments, a finding previously reported also after chronic buspirone treatment, suggesting this may be a heretofore unknown common outcome of antidepressant treatment deserving further study.
Abstract: Electrophysiological studies have led to the proposal that the neurobiological mechanism(s) underlying drug therapy of anxiety and depression involve(s) regionally-specific adaptations in 5-hydroxytryptamine 1A (5-HT 1A ) receptor sensitivity. Furthermore, the net effect of clinically-relevant repeated treatment with anxiolytic/antidepressant drugs, regardless of chemical class, appears to reflect an enhancement of 5-HT neurotransmission in forebrain targets, most notably in the hippocampus. Depending on the drug utilized, a decrease in sensitivity of inhibitory somatodendritic autoreceptors, an increase in sensitivity of postsynaptic receptors, or both alterations, occurs after 2-3 weeks of treatment. This hypothesis was tested using N,N-dipropyl-5-carboxamidotryptamine (N,N-DP-5-CT)-stimulated guanosine-5'-O-(3-thio)triphosphate (GTPγS) binding assessed by autoradiography. Rats were treated for 21 days with saline or drug (in mg/kg) once (fluoxetine, 10; imipramine, 10; clorgyline, 1) or twice daily (ipsapirone, 20) and three brain regions rich in 5-HT 1A receptors were examined: the dorsal raphe (somatodendritic), the dorsal hippocampus (postsynaptic), and the lateral septum (postsynaptic). Only imipramine (+17%) and fluoxetine (+54%) significantly increased agonist-stimulated binding in the dorsal hippocampus; all drugs except imipramine significantly decreased binding in the dorsal raphe (-19 to -41%). Although these results generally support the concept of a net enhancement of hippocampal 5-HT neurotransmission, the pattern of changes in receptor sensitivity differed somewhat from the results of electrophysiological studies. The most consistent effect, however, was a significant decrease in stimulated GTPγS binding in the lateral septum after all four treatments (-14 to -23%), a finding previously reported also after chronic buspirone treatment, suggesting this may be a heretofore unrecognized common outcome of antidepressant treatment deserving further study.

TL;DR: The result showed that antibacterial peptides can be induced by almost all inducing treatments used, but there were differences in sensitivity to various stress treatments.
Abstract: Antibacterial peptides exist in earthworms with low concentrations in normal environments. In order to test the quantitative and active variation of peptides with environmental situation surrounding earthworms, a set of antibacterial peptide assay were used on 3 stressed earthworm ways to verify the possibility of induced antibacterial peptides (IAP) as a novel candidate biomarker used for risk assessment in earthworm ecotoxicology. Stress-peptides characterized with strong bacteriostatic activities, high heat stability and less than 10Kd molecular weight was separated from the extract of coelomic fluid by methods of heat treatment, ultrafilter and molecular sieve. The physicochemical and antibacterial properties of antibacterial peptides were verified by using the methods of plate growth inhibition assay, bactericidal assay and belt growth inhibition assay with polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis. The result showed that peptide A 3-4-2 , a Gly rich acid tetradecapeptide, seems to be a suitable candidate biomarker. It has wide antibacterial chart and bacteriostatic activities and a high level of concentration response to stresses. However, there are differences among various bacterial strains in antibacterial efficiency. Three stresses, including biological treatment (bacteria injection), physical treatments (γ-ray and mechanical injury) and chemical treatments (heavy metal and pesticide pollution) were used to test the sensitivity of induced earthworm antibacterial peptides. The result showed that antibacterial peptides can be induced by almost all inducing treatments used, but there were differences in sensitivity to various stress treatments. The higher sensitivities are alive E coli injection, mechanical injury and heavy metal treatment. In the limited scope that earthworm can tolerate, the stronger the stress to worms, the higher the antibacterial activities of the peptide. It seems that certain target antibacterial substances can be induced by given matters or methods. Antibacterial peptide (tetradecapeptide), as a component of antibacterial system in the earthworm coelomic fluid, can be gotten by many inducing methods and with sensitive non-specialization-immune response to environmental stressors.

TL;DR: There were significantly negative correlations between grain yield and height, between yield and plot spike width, and plant spread angle in winter wheat genotypes provided with high hereditability and correlative genetic advance.
Abstract: This study was conducted with 10 genotypes of winter wheat. There were significantly negative correlations between grain yield and height, between yield and plot spike width, and plant spread angle. These characters were provided with high hereditability and correlative genetic advance, and can be regarded as important criteria of selection in high-yield-breeding.

TL;DR: In this paper, the strategy for selecting this variety for an example, to demonstrate the success of the grain weight or seed set spikelet enhanced strategy compare to the spiklet number/ear and ear number/unit area enhanced strategy for high yield breeding in Beijing area.
Abstract: Released in 1995, jingdong No.8 know is a dominant winter wheat variety in late maturity winter wheat reason north of China around Beijing. In this article we will take the strategy for selecting this variety for an example, to demonstrate the success of the grain weight or seed set spikelet enhanced strategy compare to the spiklet number/ear and ear number/unit area enhanced strategy for high yield breeding in Beijing area. The main experience include: ① In areas as Beijing, wheat breeder should take the filling rate and the final weight of grain as the most important way-out to high yield, at the same time it may decelerate the influence from the meteorological disaster at late growing season before wheat harvest. ② Based on self-created and not entirely homozygous materials as parents to widen the genetic background for their progeny, one could combine different sources of diseases-resistance gene to a high yield genotype. ③ Making definite target for improving characters such as lodging resistance?early maturity and winter hardiness, but in choosing a target plant, one should weight all the main characters and give a compromise selection, so a dialectical concept is formed on the relationship between lodging resistance and plant height. ④ By setting up large scale bases to amplify breeder's seed by ear row system, we put an end to the long last phenomenon that breeders ignored the work on pure seed production for farmers, and put forward the seed quality improvement in commercial wheat planting field, at same time, make a solid foundation for the fast extension of this variety.

TL;DR: It was concluded that efficient AM fungi could increase economic benefits of horticultural crops and play a role in protecting ecological environments.
Abstract: Field trials of arbuscular mycorrhizal(AM) fungi as a biological fertilizer applied on watermelon, cucumber, taro, bean, peanut, sweet potato, and corn were carried out. Results showed that the yields of tested crops colonized by AM fungi were increased by 0~66% compared to controls. The total efficiency rate of increasing yields and economic benefits were 95.5% and 68.2% respectively, for all tested crops, one hundred percentage for watermelon, cucumber, taro and bean. The input/output ratios for watermelon, cucumber, taro and bean were 1 ∶ 4.8~6.7, 1 ∶ 4.4, 1 ∶ 5~6.1 and 1 ∶ 2.8~3.4 respectively. The yield of mycorrhizal watermelon plants in replant plots after 3-year rotation was 2.7 times greater than that of control. Although yields of peanut and corn were increased by the biological fertilizer, their pure income were negative. GS preparation enhanced the yield of sweet potato, its input/output ratio was only 1∶2.3; while GV9 preparation did not. So the efficiency of AM fungal fertilizer was varied with crops. It was concluded that efficient AM fungi could increase economic benefits of horticultural crops and play a role in protecting ecological environments.
