TL;DR: The concept of a digital twin city (DTC) is proposed, the characteristics, key technologies, and application scenarios of a DTC are elaborated upon, and theories, research directions, and framework regarding DTCs are discussed.
Abstract: Many countries and governments consider smart cities a solution to global warming, population growth, and resource depletion. Numerous challenges arise while creating a smart city. Digital twins, along with the Internet of Things, fifth-generation wireless systems, blockchain, collaborative computing, simulation, and artificial intelligence technologies, offer great potential in the transformation of the current urban governance paradigm toward smart cities. In this paper, the concept of a digital twin city (DTC) is proposed. The characteristics, key technologies, and application scenarios of a DTC are elaborated upon. Further, we discuss the theories, research directions, and framework regarding DTCs.

TL;DR: In this article, the role played by micro finance in women empowerment is considered into three dimensions namely psychological, social and economical, and suggested suggestions for the betterment of women empowerment in SHG's.
Abstract: Microfinance is a type of banking service that is provided to unemployed or low-income individuals or groups who would otherwise have no other means of gaining financial services. Micro finance through Self Help Group (SHG) has been recognized internationally as the modern tool to combat poverty and for rural development. Micro finance and SHGs are effective in reducing poverty, empowering women and creating awareness which finally results in sustainable development of the nation. The main aim of microfinance is to empower women. In this paper the role played by Microfinance in women’s empowerment are considered into three dimensions namely psychological, social and economical. The objectives of the study is i) to understand the performance of SHG’s in Pondicherry region, ii) to analyze the freedom women members get in SHG’s, iii) to study the problems women members face in SHG’s, iv) to analyze the empowerment of the women psychologically, economically and socially and v) to offer suggestions for the betterment of women’s empowerment in SHG’s. The study is undertaken in rural areas of Pondicherry region. Both primary and secondary data’s are used. Primary data is enumerated from a field survey in the study region. Secondary data is collected from NGOs’ reports and other documents. The researcher has used percentage method, simple correlation coefficient, paired t test and cross tabulation for analysis purpose. Analysis showed that there is a gradual increase in the all the three factors among rural women’s. From the interaction among the respondents it is noticed that some members are expecting the NGO to come up with more training sessions in income generating activities. All they need is a way to develop their skills and talents by participating in various training programs. There is a definite improvement in psychological well being and social empowerment among rural women as a result of participating in micro finance through SHG program.

TL;DR: Wang et al. as discussed by the authors presented a sustainable value analysis tool (SVAT) to assist manufacturing companies in identifying opportunities for sustainable value creation in the process of product-service systems (PSS).
Abstract: Product-service systems (PSS) have been regarded as a promising business model to achieve sustainable production and consumption. Recent research and practice suggest the need for tools to help companies integrate sustainability into the development of PSS. The purpose of this paper is to present a sustainable value analysis tool (SVAT), and provide empirical evidence for the development and use of the tool. The tool builds on a multi-disciplinary literature analysis and qualitative data from five Chinese manufacturing companies. It is developed to assist manufacturing companies in identifying opportunities for sustainable value creation in the process of PSS development. The use of the tool in an industrial context is illustrated.

TL;DR: In this article, a VAR-GARCH-BEKK model was used to investigate mean and volatility spillover effects between Bitcoin and other major assets and explore whether Bitcoin can be used either as a hedging asset or a safe haven.
Abstract: Based on daily data about Bitcoin and six other major financial assets (stocks, commodity futures (commodities), gold, foreign exchange (FX), monetary assets, and bonds) in China from 2013 to 2017, we use a VAR-GARCH-BEKK model to investigate mean and volatility spillover effects between Bitcoin and other major assets and explore whether Bitcoin can be used either as a hedging asset or a safe haven. Our empirical results show that (i) only the monetary market, i.e., the Shanghai Interbank Offered Rate (SHIIBOR) has a mean spillover effect on Bitcoin and (ii) gold, monetary, and bond markets have volatility spillover effects on Bitcoin, while Bitcoin has a volatility spillover effect only on the gold market. We further find that Bitcoin can be hedged against stocks, bonds and SHIBOR and is a safe haven when extreme price changes occur in the monetary market. Our findings provide useful information for investors and portfolio risk managers who have invested or hedged with Bitcoin.
