TL;DR: The EVIDENCE from the research clearly supports the implementation of TeamSTEPPS to various healthcare settings and the authors of these studies acknowledged the importance of effective teams in daily patient care delivery.
Abstract: Hospital errors are intractable problems that pose a threat to the safety of healthcare consumers. Despite efforts to improve the care of hospitalized patients, adverse events continue to increase. The Institute of Medicine estimated 98,000 deaths occur annually from preventable medical errors alone. More than half of all medical errors can be traced to poor communication, problems with teamwork, and ineffective collaboration between healthcare providers. The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) in collaboration with the Department of Defense (DOD) developed an EVIDENCE-based approach to patient care delivery. Team Strategies and Tools to Enhance Performance and Patient Safety (TeamSTEPPS) delivers innovative techniques that improve communication and patient safety outcomes. TeamSTEPPS utilises EVIDENCE-based teamwork that team members can apply to their healthcare settings. Four critical areas are addressed with TeamSTEPPS training: leadership, situation monitoring, mutual support, and communication. The research studies employed five quasi-experimental and one descriptive study design. The EVIDENCE from the research clearly supports the implementation of TeamSTEPPS to various healthcare settings. The authors of these studies acknowledged the importance of effective teams in daily patient care delivery. Team members reported satisfaction implementing the strategies offered through TeamSTEPPS. TL;DR: Chinese version of the Diabetes Distress Scale is reliable and valid to determine diabetes-related emotional distress in Chinese diabetic patients.
Abstract: Objective To evaluate the reliability and validity of the Chinese version of the Diabetes Distress Scale and to provide an effective and convenient way to evaluate diabetes-related emotional distress in Chinese diabetic patients. Methods The translated version of the Diabetes Distress Scale was applied among 99 diabetic patients and the reliability and validity of the scale was evaluated. Results The Cronbach’s coefficients of the scale and 4 sub-scales were 0.842 ~0.951 and factor loading was approximately consistent with the structure and content of the three sub-scales.Conclusion Chinese version of the Diabetes Distress Scale is reliable and valid to determine diabetes-related emotional distress in Chinese diabetic patients.

TL;DR: Trans-national marriage is discussed and the living situations of female immigrants are analyzed to investigate their social segregation, and hence their situation in relation to medical care, and whether the current medical system can offer appropriate health care to them.
Abstract: Technology has reduced the distance between people, and also blurred the boundaries between nations. In recent years the development of Taiwan society has been affected by cross-national marriages. In these cases, the foreigner--usually the female--living in a new country and adapting to the pressures of being in a new society very different from her own, is also confronted by a succession of social distinctions and differentiating selection processes, giving rise gradually to the phenomenon of social segregation in culture, language and marriage. Such segregation has in turn led gradually to inferior medical care for female immigrants. It is therefore worth investigating whether the current medical system can offer appropriate health care to the female immigrant. This article's approach is to discuss trans-national marriage and analyze the living situations of female immigrants, to investigate their social segregation, and hence their situation in relation to medical care. It also prompts more advanced reflection, on the part of clinical professional caregivers, of the needs of female immigrants, in the hope that those needs will become the subject of greater interest and attention.
