TL;DR: Based on multivariate analysis affected to cell-phone addiction, being male gender and studying in general physician level are the most important predictors of poor sleep quality.
Abstract: Background: Poor sleep quality is closely associated with lifestyle habits including use of mobile cell-phones.This study aimed to identify the relationship between sleep quality due to abuse in mobile cell-phones and engagement in social networks. Methods : This cross-sectional study was conducted on 380 undergraduate students selected by proportional stratified sampling in Qom, Iran in 2015. Data were collected by two statndard questionnaire including Cell-Phone Over-Use Scale (COS) and Pittsburgh sleep quality questionnaire beside the status of usage in cell-phone social networks. T-test, chi-square, Pearson correlation coefficient and multivariate logistic regression were used in data analysis. Results: The mean age of participants was 21.8 ±3.2 yr, 69.1% were female, and 11.7% were married. The mean of COS and sleep quality scores were 48.18 ±17.5 and 5.38 ±2.31, respectively. The prevalence of over-use of cell phone was 10.7% (CI 0.95; 8.8%, 12.6%) and the prevalence of poor sleep quality was 61.7% (CI 0.95; 57.1%, 66.3%). The mean of all aspects and total score of sleep quality showed a direct significant association by cell-phone addiction score except sleep duration score that was inversely. Based on multivariate analysis affected to cell-phone addiction, being male gender and studying in general physician level are the most important predictors of poor sleep quality. Conclusions : Over use of internet and social networks via smart phones is related to poor sleep quality and quantity. Predefined sport programs, educational, cultural, and interesting entertainment are the essential needs for all medical students. These interventions are more important especially for male students who have longer educational.

TL;DR: The QoL status in infertile couples is directly associated with their self-esteem, social support, sexual satisfaction, and marital satisfaction.
Abstract: Background : Health related quality of life (QoL) has now been considered as a main tool for outcome measurement in infertility. The present study aimed to determine the association between general and specified QoL with different psychological aspects of self-esteem, social support, sexual satisfaction, and marital satisfaction in a sample of Iranian infertile couples. Method : This cross-sectional study was conducted on 385 infertile couples referred to the Fatemieh Hospital in Hamadan City, western Iran in 2012.To measure the self-esteem, the Iseng test was used. The social support scaling developed by Cassidy and Long was used for assessment of social support. The sexual satisfaction was also assessed by the Lindaberg questionnaire. For assessing the general QoL state, the WHO-QoL-BREF and FertiQoL tools were employed. Results : Self-esteem scores were lower in the couples with longer infertility duration. The social support mean score was lower in low income couples. Those with higher educational level, shorter infertility duration, and higher income were more satisfied from their marital relationships. Besides, we revealed that the previous failed efforts for treatment of infertility were adversely associated with the lower social support and sexual satisfaction. The higher educational level, higher monthly income, living in urban area, shorter duration of marriage and infertility, and male gender were associated with better QoL status in the most components. Associations between QoL and self-esteem, social support, sexual satisfaction, and marital satisfaction were significant ( P <0.05). Conclusion : The QoL status in infertile couples is directly associated with their self-esteem, social support, sexual satisfaction, and marital satisfaction.

TL;DR: The prevalence rate of diabetes is higher than other parts of the world and living in the city and female gender, increasing age, high blood pressure, increased BMI and positive family history are independent risk factor for diabetes, therefore performing prevention programs and controlling these high risk groups should be considered as a priority.
Abstract: Background: Among the non-communicable diseases, diabetes mellitus has an important ranking and with annually increasing rate where it is expected the number of people suffering from the disease will reach to 300 million up to 2025 in all of world. The prevalence of type 2 diabetes in Iran is 4-4.5% and in population aged above 30 years is greater than 14%. The present study is attempting to find out the prevalence rate of the disease and its risk factors in Yazd Province, central Iran. Methods: This cross-sectional study was carried out in 2012. A total of 14993 subjects were randomly selected and enquired by a pretested questionnaire. Data were analyzed by descriptive statistics and appropriate statistical tests such as chi-square, and multiple logistic regressions. Results: The prevalence rate of known diabetes and impaired fasting glucose was 16.3% & 11.9% respectively. Age, sex, family history of diabetes, high blood pressure, BMI, and history of gestational diabetes were significantly associated with diabetes disease ( P =0.001). Conclusions: The prevalence rate of diabetes is higher than other parts of the world and living in the city. Female gender, increasing age, high blood pressure, increased BMI and positive family history, are independent risk factor for diabetes, therefore performing prevention programs and controlling these high risk groups should be considered as a priority.

TL;DR: In this paper, the effects of exercise on primary dysmenorrhea were evaluated in a randomized clinical trial of 150 high school girls in Masged Solayman city, and the results showed that the intensity of the pain in the exercise group declined from 8.59 to 4.63 in the third period and 2.84 in the forth period.
Abstract: Background: Dysmenorrhea is a painful syndrome that accompanies the menstrual cycles. Although exercise is generally though to alleviate the dysmenorrhea, the scientific literature display mixed evidence. The main objective of this research was to determine the effects of exercise on primary dysmenorrhea. Methods: This study was a randomized clinical trial of 150 high school girl students in Masged Solayman city that suffering from severe dysmenorrhea. Students were separated in two "exercise "and "non exercise" groups. Then the "exercise" group was given some exercises and the results of the two periods after the exercise were registered. The descriptive statistics and repeated measure design were used for analyzing the statistical information. Results: The results showed that the intensity of the pain in the exercise group declined from 8.59 to 4.63 in the third period and 2.84 in the forth period ( P ). The average of the duration pain declined from 7.15 to 4.12 in the third period and 2.23 in the forth period ( P ). The average of using sedative tablets also decreased from 1.13 to 0.35 tablets in the third period and 0.0 tablets in the forth period ( P Conclusion: The exercise can decrease the duration and severity of dysmenorrhea and also using of the sedative tablets in high school girls.

TL;DR: In this article, a cross-sectional study was conducted in Hamadan City, western Iran, in 2011 among 650 male high school students, recruited randomly and all data were gathered by using self-report written questionnaires include attitudes, subjective, norms, and intention not to use drugs as theoretical constructs of TPB and drug abuse related behaviours.
Abstract: Background : Drug abuse is one of the important challenges in the field of mental health and adolescence health promotion. Because of the social and medical cost of drug abuse and its consequences among youth people, it is necessary to intervene effectively. This theoretical based study explained predictability of the Theory of Planned Behaviour (TPB) on drug abuse related behaviours. Methods : This cross-sectional study was conducted in Hamadan City, western Iran, in 2011 among 650 male high school students, recruited randomly. All data were gathered by using self-report written questionnaires include attitudes, subjective, norms, and intention not to use drugs as theoretical constructs of TPB and drug abuse related behaviours. Results : According to the logistic regression analysis, attitude and subjective norms were the most influential predictors of intention to drug abuse. There was a significant relationship between drug abuse smoking experience (OR=27.24 95% CI: 10.25, 72.40; P=0.001), having parents of drug users (OR=8.63 95% CI: 3.42, 21.81; P=0.001), and having friends who had experienced drug (OR=11.06 95% CI: 4.24, 28.85; P=0.001). Conclusion : Drug abuse preventative programs need to apply comprehensive theoretical based efforts for drug abuse preventative manipulations in school settings. Theory of planned behaviour can be used properly and effectively for planning and implementing drug abuse prevention programs in adolescents.
