TL;DR: Li et al. as discussed by the authors used thermogravimetry coupled with differential scanning calorimetry (TG-DCS) and laser ignition test bench to study the combustion behavior of boron particles.
Abstract: Boron is an attractive candidate for the development of high-energy fuels. It is important to find ways for promoting ignition and combustion property of boron particles. In this paper,AP,LiF and TMP were used for boron surface coating. Then ignition and combustion behavior of original boron and coated boron were studied by using thermogravimetry coupled with differential scanning calorimetry(TG-DCS) and laser ignition test bench. Results show that the thermal reaction of boron in the air can be divided into three stages:warm-up period, violent reaction period and later reaction period.LiF and TMP can reduce the ignition temperature and increase heat release of the boron samples.AP can slightly raise the ignition temperature and decrease the boron heat release.During laser ignition test,AP can shorten the ignition delay time and improve the combustion intensity. On the other side,LiF and TMP can increase the ignition delay time and lower combustion intensity a little, because they absorb part of the energy from the laser.

Abstract: Boron particles were coated by using different coating agents, and the effects of different agents on boron powderwere investigated by means of transmission electron microscope(TEM)and acidity-instrument.Then combustion residue of boron-based propellants was analyzed by chemical analysis methods. The results show that a coating layer forms on the surface of coatedboron particles, and the pHvalue of the solution with boron becomes obviously bigger, which would be suitable for pharmaceuticalprocess of boron-based propellants. The burning efficiency of coated boron powder was improved greatly.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors investigated carbonized layer structural features and its influence on ablation characteristic of EPDM insulator and found that the carbonized layers were a typical porous and loose material and a majority of the aperture was opened.
Abstract: The investigation of carbonized layer structural features and its influence on ablation characteristic of EPDM insulator was carried out under different ablation modes through the ablation test motor, densimeter, scanning electron microscope and micron CT.The results show that the carbonized layer was a typical porous and loose material and a majority of the aperture was opened;Compact/loose structures were formed in carbonized layer of EPDM insulator, which was related with ablation conditions; The erosion resistance of ablatives was improved by the compact structures on the surface. The formation mechanism of compact structures was discussed and a possible cause is that chemical vapor deposition of pyrogenation gas at the specifical temperature.Three typical ablation modes of weak erosion mode, aggradation mode and strong erosion mode were assumed according to the carbonized layer structural features. The conclusion that the erosion resistance of ablatives was improved by the fiber frame could be drawed through the ablation experimental results of different formulation EPDM.

TL;DR: In this article, the structure integrality of a motor nozzle during the working process of motor was analyzed by calculating temperature field and stress field, and the results show that nozzle structure is of safety.
Abstract: Structure integrality of nozzle during the working process of motor was analyzed by calculating temperature field and stress field. In order to determine temperature and pressure on nozzle inner contour, the gas was regarded as one-dimension isoentropic flow.Based on three-dimension finite element model, transient temperature field in nozzle was calculated. Then analysis results were input into structure model and point-point contact elements were used to simulate contact state of different nozzle materials.Under the temperature and working pressure loading, stress field of nozzle was analyzed. The results show that nozzle structure is of safety.
