Abstract: A.H.C. Chun, PhD, is associate research fellow and head of the biopharmaceutics section of the pharmaceutical products division at Abbott Laboratories. A native of Hawaii, he earned his BS degree in 1954 and his MS and PhD degrees from the school of pharmacy and pharmacal sciences of Purdue University. Since joining Abbott Laboratories in 1958, he worked. in the pharmaceutical development, physical chemistry and chemical pharmacology areas. Chun is a member of APhA' s Academy of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Rho Chi and Sigma Xi. He was recently elected fellow of the Academy of Pharmaceutical Sciences. James A. Seitz, PhD, is manager of the pharmaceutical R&D services department, pharmaceutical products division, Abbott Laboratories. Seitz earned his BS and PhD degrees in pharmacy from the University of Wisconsin college of pharmacy. His 15 years of industrial research and development experience have encompassed a broad spectrum of laboratory and supervisory functions. Since joining Abbott Laboratories in 1971, his responsibilities have included biopharmaceutics, exploratory pharmaceutics and development engineering. Seitz is a member of the APhA, Academy of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Rho Chi and Sigma Xi.

Abstract: The APhA Task Force on Specialties in Pharmacy was created by the APhA Board of Trustees in January 1973 to consider the issue of specialization in pharmacy practice and to recommend a mechanism for recognition of specialties and the certification of specialist. The preliminary report of the Task Force appeared in the February 1974 issue of JAPhA and the membership was requested to submit comments. In addition, during the 1974 APhA Annual Meeting, an open hearing was held to receive comments relatlve to the final report of the Task Force. The following report has been submitted to the APhA Board of Trustees with recommendations for its implementation.

Abstract: Edward G. Feldmann is associate executive director for scientific affairs of APhA. He holds a BS in chemistry from Loyola University, an MS in pharmacy and a PhD in pharmaceutical chemistry from the University of Wisconsin. Feldmann joined APhA in 1959. For 15 years he was editor of the Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences. From 1960 to 1969 he served as director of the National Formulary and as chairman of the NF Board. He currently serves as a member of the National Research Council, a delegate to the United States Pharmacopeial Convention and as a member of the Expert Advisory Panel on the International Pharmacopeia, World Health Organization. He has authored over 60 published articles.
