TL;DR: In this article, the effects of perceived variables on the word-of-mouth of social network service (SNS) market is examined and the results of this research can be useful guidelines to increase SNS Market.
Abstract: Given the prevalence of internet and web 2.0, SNS(Social Network Service) market is growing rapidly. IT providers which focused marketing point on network hub have become to disseminate SNS mainly now. Many users are using the various functions of SNS to communicate each other or share the information. At this point, identifying the influencing factors to WOM(Word-Of-Mouth) of SNS is very important. In this paper, we aim to examine the effects of perceived variables on the WOM of SNS. In order to analyze the antecedents, we selected perceived factors such as perceived usefulness, perceived easiness, perceived enjoyment and perceived crowd. For statistical analysis, we surveyed real users of SNS. As a result, all antecedents of WOM showed significant influence and among the variables the perceived enjoyment has top standardized coefficient. In addition, perceived crowd has significant on perceived easiness, perceived enjoyment but not on perceived usefulness. The result of this research can be useful guidelines to increase SNS Market.

TL;DR: In this article, the structural relationships among factors affecting the usage of social network services by extending the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) were found out, and these factors were carefully integrated into a structural model.
Abstract: Social Network Service(SNS) is a kind of advanced Internet service that acts as personal media. This study was intended to find out the structural relationships among factors affecting the usage of social network services by extending the Technology Acceptance Model(TAM). For this purpose, the variable `Flow` was first integrated into the TAM in order to understand the internal motivations of users. And then the external factors of SNS usage were derived from the perspective of users, contents, and media side of SNS, and finally the dependent variable was set with the intention of sustainable use. Then these factors were carefully integrated into a structural model. We expect the findings of this study will be very helpful for the internet marketing professionals, SNS developers, and the others.

TL;DR: Whether user`s preference to a certain platform is persistent over mobile ecology, from the pre-adoption of one smart device to the post-ad adoption of following devices is investigated, which can conjecture the relatively stronger loyalty of iPhone users.
Abstract: Contemporary smartphone competition is generally described as the battle between Apple`s proprietary platform and Google`s open platform. However, this competition is not limited within smartphone adoption itself. User`s pre-adoption of one mobile platform via smartphone can be connected to the post-adoption of the same mobile platform based on the other smart devices (e.g. smart pad). In this study, we investigate whether user`s preference to a certain platform is persistent over mobile ecology, from the pre-adoption of one smart device to the post-adoption of following devices. For this investigation, we adopt the dual-model as the ground theory, where post-adoption of IT product is explained by both dedication and constraint factors. The empirical testing first evidences that dual model works well as our research model for identifying the reasons of post-adoption. Next, we group our data into two parts in order to compare the switching behavior of iPhone users and Android phone users. iPhone users show much lower switching rate to Android based smart pads, while Android phone users show higher churn rate to iPad (49.3% : 96.3%). Especially, satisfaction showed much stronger effect than switching cost on the continuing intention of existing platform, when the analysis is given to the iPhone user`s group. From this result, we can conjecture the relatively stronger loyalty of iPhone users. More managerial implications on the mobile platform strategy are driven.

TL;DR: The latest trends related to the field of IT are analyzed by exploiting the Netminer which is one of the software for analysis of social networks and measuring the Cosine Similarity between conferences, based upon keywords which are included in the conferences.
Abstract: We have been provided with a plenty of information about IT through the conferences. However, it is hard to find enough information or the latest trends from conferences because there are too many conferences. In this situation, we analyzed the latest trends related to the field of IT by exploiting the Netminer which is one of the software for analysis of social networks and measuring the Cosine Similarity between conferences, based upon keywords which are included in the conferences. We analyzed keywords of 24 conferences related to the computer network part of the IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) in the case of foreign conferences. We also analyze keywords of the KIISE (Korean Institute of Information Scientists and Engineers) conferences in the case of domestic conferences, during 2009-2010. We identified the trends through the frequency of keywords, the change of top 10 keywords ranking and the similarity between conferences.

TL;DR: A practical framework to help the adopter select which one will be the best suitable deployment model for their requirements by evaluating each model comprehensively by applying the analytic hierarchy process, namely benefit-cost-opportunity-risk (BCOR) model.
Abstract: With the continuous and outstanding development of information technology(IT), human being is coming to the new computing era which is called cloud computing. This era brings lots of huge benefits also at the same time release the resources of IT infrastructure and data boom for man. In the future no longer, most of IT service providers, enterprises, organizations and systems will adopt this new computing model. There are three main deployment models in cloud computing including public cloud, private cloud and hybrid cloud; each one also has its own cons and pros. While implementing any kind of cloud services, customers have to choose one of three above deployment models. Thus, our paper aims to represent a practical framework to help the adopter select which one will be the best suitable deployment model for their requirements by evaluating each model comprehensively. The framework is built by applying the analytic hierarchy process(AHP), namely benefit-cost-opportunity-risk(BCOR) model as a powerful and effective tool to serve the problem. The gained results hope not only to provide useful information for the readers but also to contribute valuable knowledge to this new area. In addition, it might support the practitioners` effective decision making process in case they meet the same issue and have a positive influence on the increase of right decision for the organization.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors identify key factors influencing the intention to continuous use of social network service (SNS) based on the UTAUTA model and propose the research model, including the effects of social-network service characteristics (social relationship support, information sharing, image expression) and individual characteristics (self-disclosure, extroversion, familiarity) on performance expectancy as well as the moderating effect of perceived information security among UTAAT variables.
Abstract: Social network service(SNS), provided by social network sites such as Facebook, Twitter and Cyworld is rapidly growing in online business. Furthermore, many companies have growing interests in finding effective ways to use SNSs for their innovations, marketing and advertisement. In fact, firms have recognized the utility value of the SNS for their business. In this aspect, this study attempts to identify key factors influencing the intention to continuous use of SNSs. Based on the UTAUT(the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Usage of Technology)model, this study proposes the research model, including the effects of social network service characteristics(social relationship support, information sharing, image expression) and individual characteristics(self-disclosure, extroversion, familiarity) on performance expectancy as well as the moderating effect of perceived information security among UTAUT variables. The 412T sets of data collected in a survey were tested against the modeling using SEM using SmartPLS. Results indicated that social network service and individual characteristics had significant effect on performance expectancy with exception of self-disclosure. In addition, the moderating effect of perceived information security had significant effect. The results had important implications for firms providing SNSs hoping to develop a successful business model.

TL;DR: In this paper, a taxonomy of efforts is developed which build on the service transition literatures and cases and provide a phased service transition strategy for manufacturers and service capabilities needed at each phases.
Abstract: Manufacturers have started to adopt service as their offering mix in order to overcome slow growth, declining profitability and commoditization in the pure product market. Several companies like IBM and GE have shown that services would be a new source of revenue and a steady growth. Service covers a wide spectrum from a simple add-on service like repair to complex outsourcing service. Service adoption is a challenge for manufacturers who have been accustomed to product making and selling. Making, proposing, delivering and evaluating services needs a different and new capabilities for manufacturers. And service transition is closely related with capabilities which make a transition with a less risk. In this paper, a taxonomy of efforts is developed which build on the service transition literatures and cases. We provide a phased service transition strategy for manufacturers and service capabilities needed at each phases.

TL;DR: This paper attempted to theorize the multi-faceted impacts of smart work on economic activities by adopting socio-economic perspective which includes individual, firm, and social support aspects, and explored the variables related to the quality of life among them.
Abstract: In this paper, we attempted to theorize the multi-faceted impacts of smart work on economic activities. In this vein, we adopted socio-economic perspective which includes individual, firm, and social support aspects, and explored the variables related to the quality of life among them. First, smart work patterns are categorized as telework, mobile office, teleconferencing, and social collaboration. And relevant variables are extracted with reference to industrial cases and relevant literatures which investigated economic impacts of digital convergence. Next, with the data collected from experts, following delphi method, validation of variables and explorations of significant factors affecting quality of life were conducted by adopting stepwise regression method. The distinguishing traits of this research are two-folds. The one is the investigation of social support and quality of life aspects of smart work, which has been relatively limited in the digital convergence research field. The other is the comparative analysis of smart work advantages by distinguishing individual and firm aspects separately. The result offers useful insights for socio-economic perspective researches on digital convergence application area.

TL;DR: Characteristics of the Cloud Service are followings : Pay per use, Scalability, Internet centric Virtualization, and the scope as defined including Grid Computing, Utility Computing, Server Based Computing, Network Computing.
Abstract: Recently, as the clouding computing begins to receive a great attention from people all over the world, it became the most popular buzz word in recent IT magazines or journal and heard it in many different services or different fields. However, a notion of the cloud service is defined vaguely compared to increasing attentions from others. Generally the cloud service could be understood as a specific service model base on the clouding computing, but the cloud, the cloud computing, the cloud computing service and cloud service, these four all terms are often used without any distinction of its notions and characteristics so that it`s difficult to define the exact nature of the cloud service. To explore and analyze the cloud service systematically, an accurate conception and scope have to be preceded. Therefore this study is to firstly clarify its definition by Delpi method using expert group and then tries to provide the foundation needed to enable relative research such as establishing business model or value chain and policies for its activation to set off. For the Delpi, 16 experts participated in several surveys from different fields such industry, academy and research sector. As a result of the research, Characteristics of the Cloud Service are followings : Pay per use, Scalability, Internet centric Virtualization. And the scope as defined including Grid Computing, Utility Computing, Server Based Computing, Network Computing.

TL;DR: Evaluation of the performance of the proposed Multi-Beacon MAC protocol by means of both mathematical analyses and simulation experiments indicate that the proposed method can effectively reduce beacon collisions and improve the throughput and the delay between vehicles in VANET systems.
Abstract: In ubiquitous environments, the Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) protocol is a typical service used to improve the quality of life for humans. The Vehicular Ad-hoc Network (VANET) protocol, a part of ITS, needs further study with regards to its support for high reliability, high speed mobility, data transmission efficiency, and so on. The IEEE 802.11 standard provides a high data rate channel, but it was designed for peer-to-peer network protocols. IEEE 802.11p also provides a high data rate channel, however, it only facilitates communication between roadside and on-board equipment. A VANET has characteristics that enable its topology to change rapidly; it can also be expanded to a multi-hop range network during communication. Therefore, the VANET protocol needs a way to infer the current topology information relating to VANET equipped vehicles. In this paper, we present the Multi-Beacon MAC Protocol, and propose a method to resolve the problem of beacon collisions in VANET through the use of this Multi-Beacon MAC protocol. Evaluation of the performance of Multi-Beacon MAC protocol by means of both mathematical analyses and simulation experiments indicate that the proposed method can effectively reduce beacon collisions and improve the throughput and the delay between vehicles in VANET systems.

TL;DR: Qualitatively validate the usability and practicality of a typology of u-city services, which indicates that the selected typology is high on comprehensive exhaustiveness, and empirical applicability while low on mutual exclusivity, simplicity and theoretical contribution.
Abstract: KUbiquitous city(U-City) is a recent trend in urban planning and management across the globe. Currently, several typologies were developed and presented classifying U-City services, but validation research of these typologies are scarce. In this study, efforts were made to qualitatively validate the usability and practicality of a typology of u-city services. Using 228 U-City services identified in previous studies, classifying exercises were conducted against a typology. Three experts were involved in this expert heuristic exercise, against a most popularly used and comprehensive typology of U-City services. Findings indicates that the selected typology is high on comprehensive exhaustiveness, and empirical applicability while low on mutual exclusivity, simplicity and theoretical contribution. Implications for the typology improvement are suggested followed by limitations and directions for further research.

TL;DR: The fuzzy multi-criteria decision-making method is applied to determine the importance weight of evaluation criteria and to synthesize the ratings of candidate disaster recovery system to deal with disaster recovery priority decision problem in information system.
Abstract: This paper is aimed to present a fuzzy decision-making approach to deal with disaster recovery priority decision problem in information system. We derive an evaluation approach based on TOPSIS(Technique for Order Performance by Similarity to Ideal Solution), to help disaster recovery priority decision of total information system for port logistics in a fuzzy environment where the vagueness and subjectivity are handled with linguistic terms parameterized by trapezoidal fuzzy numbers. This study applies the fuzzy multi-criteria decision-making method to determine the importance weight of evaluation criteria and to synthesize the ratings of candidate disaster recovery system. Aggregated the evaluators` attitude toward preference, then TOPSIS is employed to obtain a crisp overall performance value for each alternative to make a final decision. This approach is demonstrated with a real case study involving 4 evaluation criteria(system dependence, RTO, loss, alternative business support), 7 information systems for port logistics assessed by 5 evaluators from Maritime Affairs and Port Office.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors investigate the moderating role of customer attributes in identifying the effect of SNS reviews on customer purchasing decision, and they adopt ''information search experience'' and ''perception of information overload''.
Abstract: With the advent of SNS (Social Network Services), the product reviews by friends in SNS are intensively utilized for online marketing. However, there is a lack of empirical evidence on the actual marketing effect of SNS reviews, although we need to identify who can be the target of SNS marketing in terms of customer attributes, preferences, or experiences. In this study, we investigate the moderating role of customer attributes in identifying the effect of SNS reviews on customer purchasing decision. As the moderating variables, we adopt `information search experience` and `perception of information overload`. Research results evidence that, in order to understand the effect of SNS reviews in a comprehensive manner, we need to examine it in the context of various related factors such as `information search experience` and `perception of information overload`. The results show that the persuading effect of SNS reviews for product purchasing is stronger for the customers with the lower information search experiences as well as the lower perception on the information overload on the web. This result delivers managerial implications on who can be the target customers of SNS marketing.

TL;DR: The more the user used a smartphone to pass time and for convenience, the more effectively the user could use various functions and it proves that the variety of use of smartphone is highly related to the acceptance of smartpads.
Abstract: The growing interest in smartphones has increased the number of studies conducted on technology acceptance and user satisfaction. It is now over two years since the launching of smartphones, but there are not many researches on the usage behavior of today`s smartphone users. Smart devices have evolved from smartphone to smart pad and smart TV, but there are still not many studies on variables such as knowledge about the parent product and the ability to use it. With this, I decided to study how the motivation and the ability of using smartphones affected the smartphone user`s intention to use smartpads. This study presents the usage behavior of smartphone users and proves that the ability to use a parent product (smartphone) affects the user`s intention to use an extension product (smartpad). The research results showed that the smartphone usage ability affected both variety of use and rate of use. The convenience and passing time factors affected variety of use; and the social interaction, entertainment and passing time factors affected rate of use. As for the intention to use smartpads, the smartphone usage ability and variety of use positively affected the smartphone user`s intention to use smartpads. This study showed that the more the user used a smartphone to pass time and for convenience, the more effectively the user could use various functions. It proves that the variety of use of smartphone is highly related to the acceptance of smartpads. This study also proves that usage ability is an important factor in using innovative products, such as smart devices.

TL;DR: The study found that EAmaturity has a positive effect on information resource management and performance and suggests that the maturity and performance can be also changed by the level that EAcreates information performance by accepting and using this capability within organization.
Abstract: This study was carried out to figure out the relationship between EAmaturity, information management capacity, and information performance, and find the effect between these variables and the reciprocal causation. The study found that EAmaturity has a positive effect on information resource management and performance. In other words, the effect of input, calculation, management and utilization factors on information planning in EAmaturity showed that calculation, management and utilization factors have a significant effect on the information planning. While the effect of input, calculation, management and utilization factors on information introduction and management showed that only both calculation and utilization have a significant effect on the information management factor. It says that EAinput in EAmaturity does not play a big part in the planning stage, as well as not go through a series of process that is connected to the maturity stage by immediate field application. Consequently, EAmaturity varies from the level that EAcreates introduction and performance according to organization. This suggests that the maturity and performance can be also changed by the level that EAcreates information performance by accepting and using this capability within organization as well as the capability to introduce and fully perform the EAsystem presented in enterprise architecture framework of public sector.

TL;DR: This paper proposes a novel channel assignment scheme that employs Multi-channel and Multi-Interface in the WMN and shows that the proposed scheme improves the throughput of the network compared with the conventional schemes.
Abstract: Recently, Wireless Mesh Network (WMN) technology recently has been used in various industries. Especially, a number of multi-channel assignment schemes have been presented to improve the throughput of IEEE 802.11-based multi-hop WMN. However, performance of the conventional multi-channel assignment schemes is not enough to satisfy the industry requirements. We, thus, should study more about the multi-channel assignment scheme in order to enhance the performance. This paper proposes a novel channel assignment scheme that employs Multi-channel and Multi-Interface in the WMN. The proposed scheme can obtain the traffic information of the network and the efficient channel assignment result without any message exchanges. We verify the efficiency of the proposed scheme through the mathematical modeling and the real-world experiments. The results show that the proposed scheme improves the throughput of the network compared with the conventional schemes.

Abstract: We investigate the long-term effect of servitization strategy on firm value. Manufacturing companies recognize servitization as their competitive strategies. While most of existing literature have focused on developing theory, presenting framework, or cases, only a few papers examine effects of servitization strategy empirically. We aims to empirically test the long-term relationship between servitization strategy and firm value. Service ratio and Tobin`s q are used to measure the degree of servitization and firm performance, respectively. Data set covers 130 manufacturing companies for 12 years from 1998 to 2009.

TL;DR: In this paper, a conceptual framework that enables to conduct a comparative ITG case studies is proposed. But, the authors do not provide a comprehensive conceptual framework to evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed framework.
Abstract: In recent years, research has begun to place greater emphasis on the strategic use of IT in seeking to build firm`s capability, thus innovating firm`s business value. Many leading firms have been put efforts to formulate and implement IT governance (ITG) structures, processes, and mechanisms for firm`s IT activities. However, recent literatures reviews found that ITG framework have been discussed independently rather than in an integrated and on convergent manner failing to provide comprehensive conceptual framework. The objective of this paper is therefore, to develop a conceptual framework that enable to conduct a comparative ITG case studies. The proposed framework, developed by one of author, has extensively applied in real case study to validate its usefulness and also aims to contribute practitioners to understand how well IT principles are formed within the organization as well as corelate with ITG objectives and ITG execution.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors investigate the factors influencing followers' continuous usage intention of twitter based on Elaboration Likelihood Model and find that the central route is more influential than the peripheral route in forming a positive attitude towards arguments, which in turn leads to the perception of twitter's usefulness, and in the end brings the continuous usage intent of twitter.
Abstract: This study aims to investigate the factors influencing followers` continuous usage intention of twitter based on Elaboration Likelihood Model. In particular, central route(information itself) and peripheral route(twitterian`s trustworthiness) are tested to reveal which has a more influential role in effecting the continuous usage intention of power-twitter. Furthermore, this study tests the relationship of users` attitude and continuous usage intention. The results indicate that argument quality, accuracy(central route), source expertise and source trustworthiness (peripheral route) have an influence on attitude. However, trustworthy on central route is not significant. Argument quality, trustworthy, accuracy(central route) and source expertise(peripheral route) have an influence on perceived usefulness. But source trustworthiness on peripheral is not significant. Attitude has an influence on perceived usefulness, and attitude and perceived usefulness both have an influence on perceived usefulness. In conclusion, central route is more influential than peripheral route in forming a positive attitude towards arguments, which in turn leads to the perception of twitter`s usefulness, and in the end brings the continuous usage intention of twitter.
