TL;DR: It is shown how the use of nanofiltration membranes in the diagnosis and treatment of central nervous system disorders has changed in recent years.

TL;DR: More than half of the TB infections in patients with end-stage renal disease presented with extra-pulmonary involvement, and Fever of unknown origin, reversed serum albumin/globulin ratio, and unexplained hypercalcaemia in maintenance dialysis patients suggested the possibility of tuberculosis.
Abstract: Purpose: The purpose of our study was to describe the clinical and radiological mani-festations of tuberculosis in patients with end-stage renal disease.Materials and Methods: The medical records, chest radiographs, and CT scans of 42 patients with tuberculosis among 871 consecutive patients with end-stage renal disease were reviewed. Patterns of initial chest radiographs were categorized as primary, postprimary, miliary, or atypical, according to the predominant radiologic findings. Results: Chest radiographs and CT scans revealed pulmonary tuberculosis in 28 patients and extrapulmonary tuberculosis in 15. The pattern of chest radiographs indicative of pulmonary tuberculosis was primary in 12 cases, postprimary in 11, miliary in one, demonstrated atypical infiltrates in three, and was normal in one. Tuberculosis involved the extrathoracic lymph nodes in six cases, the peritoneum in four, the spine in three, and the bone marrow in two. The primary pattern, seen in 12 patients, manifested as pleural effusion or segmental consolidation, and in ten of the twelve the former was dominant. Conclusion: The radiological pattern of pulmonary tuberculosis in end-stage renal disease is often primary, and extrapulmonary involvement is frequent.

TL;DR: Because category 4 lesions account for about 25.7 % of all breast malignancies, mammographic lesions in this category (“suspicious abnormality ”) should be considered for supplementary study and breast biopsy rather than short-term follow-up.
Abstract: Purpose : The purpose of this study was to assess the mammographic features and pathologic outcome of category 4 lesions using the Breast Imaging Reporting and Data System(BI-RADS), and to evaluate the significance of final assessment categories. Materials and Methods : Using BI-RADS, the interpretations of 8,134 mammograms acquired between January 1997 and May 1998 were categorized. From among 161 lesions categorized as “4 ”(“suspicious abnormality ”) and pathologically confirmed by surgery or biopsy, we analysed 113, found in 66 patients. Results : The pathologic outcome of these 113 lesions was as follows: infiltrating ductal carcinoma, 17.7%(20/113); DCIS(ductal carcinoma in sitv), 8.0 %(9/113); ADH(atypical ductal hyperplasia), 5.3 % (6/113); DEH(ductal epithelial hyperplasia), 1.8 %(2/113); ductectasia, 0.9 %(1/113), FCD(fibrocystic change), 27 .4 %(31/113); fibroadenoma, 7.1 %(8/113); stromal fibrosis, 9.7%(11/113); normal parenchyma, 7.1 % (8/113); other pathology, 15.0 %(17/113). The most frequent mammographic features of BI-RADS category 4 lesions were irregular mass shape(41.2 %), spiculated mass margin(52.3%), amorphous calcification(47.3%) and clustered calcification distribution(37.1% ). Conclusion : Because category 4 lesions account for about 25.7 % of all breast malignancies, mammographic lesions in this category (“suspicious abnormality ”)should be considered for supplementary study and breast biopsy rather than short-term follow-up. Initial pathologic findings can thus be confirmed.

TL;DR: The radiologic findings of various anomalies of the pulmonary and systemic venous systems in the thorax are described to avoid misinterpretation and then performing unnecessary additional studies.
Abstract: The radiographic findings of normal and abnormal vascular structures can mimic soft-tissue masses and this can lead to inappropriate diagnostic procedures. An awareness of these anatomical features is required to avoid misinterpretation and then performing unnecessary additional studies. The purpose of this pictorial essay is to describe the radiologic findings of various anomalies of the pulmonary and systemic venous systems in the thorax.

TL;DR: Among the test items for the performance evaluation and quality control of PET/CT, spatial resolution test, sensitivity test, image quality, attenuation accuracy & scatter correction test, scatter fraction, count losses and randoms test and accuracy are examined.
Abstract: PET/CT is a machine for imaging in vivo functions or metabolic activities after the administration of radiopharmaceuticals labeled with radioisotope emitting positrons in the body. Recently the number of PET/CT installed in Korean medical institutions is increasing rapidly. In response, the number of PET/CT tests to be used in the diagnosis and treatment of tumors is also increasing every year, and this is increasing the necessity for developing the methods of PET/CT performance evaluation and quality control. Among the test items for the performance evaluation and quality control of PET/CT suggested in NU 2-2007, this study examined spatial resolution test, sensitivity test, image quality, attenuation accuracy & scatter correction test, scatter fraction, count losses and randoms test and accuracy( correction for count losses and randoms).
